Place rating: 4 Hong Kong
My relationship with the Tamarind is a good one. I’ve spent the last two years or so there attending a bi-annual event. For my taste buds it’s an easy place to like, Indian, Thai, and Vietnamese are some of my favorite cuisines so the day I found out that they are all served under the same roof here was a glorious day indeed. The restaurant is spilt up into two different areas, an indoor section on the right as you enter and another indoor section on the left that is connected to the terrace. The terrace was where I spent most my time during the events. To one side is the beautifully glittering skyline of Kowloon and to the other side you’re set almost face to face with some of Hong Kong Island’s most bright buildings. The food here is well worth the price and them some. The samosas in particular were delicious, as well as the satays. The staff are adequate at their jobs, neither shining nor slacking in their duties, but with so many guests it makes it quite difficult to please them all, I’d imagine. After the first couple of plates from the buffet I finally moved onto the dessert, where I took another couple of plates! I’m not sure if I’m just a bit of a pig when it comes to food or if it really tastes good. Must have been something to do with growing up against three brothers, every meal was a competition! I can proudly say that on each and every occasion I’ve been to the Tamarind I’ve waddled out as full as an egg, grinning from ear to ear(which may have been the alcohol). Ideally situated in Wan Chai it makes the choice of where to go next for after party drinks an easy one.
