Okay. So this is my second time to review on The Parlour as this time I tried the afternoon tea set at last. To be honest, coming here during the day definitely looks very different from the view at night. Without all the lights across Victoria Harbour and the crowds, it seems rather cozy and very comfortable there on a sunny afternoon with Victorian paintings as your backdrop. So, let’s begin with the food. Just the stand itself looks exquisite enough but I have to say that certain food tastes better than how it looks, in other words, the food does not really look exceptionally nice. The scones with apricot jam are very savory and tasty. Blueberry scones are very tasty as well. However, the sandwiches were a blah and probably a miss. Also the finger sandwiches too were a bit disappointing unfortunately. As for the sweets, sadly I find that quite average as well(with this price… the word«average» is the worst word possible). Why? Well… mainly because most of them are rather weak in flavor. Yet, I enjoyed the Lychee mousse though as the lychee tasted fresh and rather natural. The selling point of this place, instead of the view and the standard afternoon tea set, it has to be the French twist. You can also have some French pastries like white chocolate and raspberry cake, so it is definitely not one of those British tea sets but with a slight wow factor here. With that, it is definitively worth a try. All in all, the afternoon tea might be a bit too over-priced given the quality. I have to say that the best part of this place is the decoration and the knowledgeable staff; however you can still have all these in the evening and on top of that the view of the Harbour at night. Thus, I recommend coming for dinner instead of the tea set.
