A lot of people like Tsui Wah, which is a chain in Hong Kong. However, the food and service in Tsui Wah never really clicked with me. Every time I go to a Tsui Wah, I somehow struggle with what to order, as none of the items on the menu looks particularly appetising. However, I have friends who love Tsui Wah, so every now and then, I’m at Tsui Wah, pondering what to order. This is not to say that the food is bad per se, just not quite ‘my cup of tea’. The service, though, has room for improvement.

Ok food but overpriced because there aren’t many choices up here at this 550 m elevation touristic spot. I can see how we suffer paying extra for the cost of food transport and expensive rent. That’s pretty much the only choice for Chinese Hk style fast food here. It’s usually pretty packed here too but we’re promptly seated. However, the chairs weren’t that comfy because the back support was halfa$$. Service was quick but not quite attentive. It might be faster to get your extra utensils from their drawers, which I’m used to growing up in HK. Chui Wah is a chain that is famous for their pork sandwiches. It’s pretty good but we didn’t order that. We got the shrimp double pan-fried crispy noodles. The noodles were delicious but the sauce was a bit too sweet and sour for me. The shrimp was huge and succulent but I wish there were more veggies in the sauce. It looked kind of pathetic! Hot milk tea was great on a cold day… The shrimp wonton soup was decent but definitely not the best I’ve had. It curbed the cravings of that day.

We drive up the peak everytime I am back in HK and make sure to stop by this particular Tsui Wah location. Why? I feel like they have the best Tom yum noodle soup plus the prices are very reasonable considering it is on the Peak and everything else up there has crazy expensive prices as it is a popular tourist destination. There can be quite a lineup for seating during peak seasons so go early if possible.

A must go to chain for any tourist visiting Hong Kong. In a lot of ways it is very representative of the actual city of HK too. It’s vibrant, fast paced and many delicious dishes to try from. This particular location, at Victoria peak, is one of the bigger stores of the chain. Because it is in the middle of one of Hk’s biggest tourist attraction it can get quite busy and crowded at times. I’ve been to this location twice; ~2pm and ~8pm respectively. I only had to wait 10 minutes at 2pm and had no wait time when I came at 8pm. In my opinion you get good food for a reasonable price. It’s not the cheapest restaurant/HK style café, but it makes up by being consistent throughout the chain. My typical meal: Minced beef with egg over rice w/coffee milk tea drink ~70HK It’s fast and filling. What you do is mix everything together so that the piping hot beef sauce cooks the egg on the hot rice. A lot of people are wary of the raw egg, but you can ask to not have it. Tl;dr One of my favorite HK café chains and is a must visit for tourists! Quality assured!4/5 stars

To begin my trip to Hong Kong, my friend took me to the peak to check out a true view of Hong Kong, and afterwards we stopped by here for some authentic Hong Kong cuisine. The dining area was very spacious and the prices were reasonable. Additionally, the whole restaurant was very clean. For an appetizer, we had condensed milk over a butter roasted pork bun. It was well buttered and very sweet, and the main cause of its deliciousness was the pork bun. It was thick and fluffy and really was able to absorb the butter and milk flavors. My friend ordered the delicious pork rice. The tomato paste really went well with the pork, which had a nice sear on the outside and was very tender on the inside. I had the baked Monzarella seafood rice. Now, asian cuisine and cheese might sound like a weird combination, but it really works well. The mussel was well cooked, but I was disappointed in the amount of peppers in the dish. It was so overwhelmed with peppers that it felt more like a Mexican dish than a Hong Kong dish. In short, I would definitely recommend. The prices are good and the food is good as well. Also, the atmosphere at the peak is truly phenomenal.

A colleague told me that I absolutely had to check out a Hong Kong-style café whilst visiting the city, and I’m so glad I did! Thanks for the hot tip, Ely. As luck would have it, I really didn’t have to look long or far as Tsui Wah is located at the top of the Peak(which of course is a top destination for any red-blooded tourist). Temps drop dramatically on the Peak, and the promise of hot milk tea easily lured me into the café. It’s quite the cute set-up, with spacious, well-cushioned booths to sprawl out in — much more roomy than the typical spaces in HK. Our server brought us our menus and straight away, something curious caught my attention: a photo of toasted buns covered in butter and sweet condensed milk! I didn’t know what they were when I first spied them, but I knew I had to have them. Paired with the warm milk tea, I felt toasty inside out within minutes. The buns are even more filling than they appear! I was so full from my 4pm ‘snack’, that I skipped dinner last night. Plan accordingly! Pro tip: Though you’ll have a server, pay at the counter, not the table.

For a restaurant on top of the Peak, a major tourist attraction in HK, this is an affordable place for visitors. This is a chain restaurant, one of the better chains in HK. Must try the toasted bread with butter and the cream milk, it is one of their signature dishes. The bread was toasted nice and warm and tasted very good. I also had the stir fry noodles in soy sauce. This was just a regular dish. This is an average restaurant. Reasonable, good and affordable.
