There are a very few United Club lounges outside United States and this happens to be one of them… and possibly one of the best United Club lounge I’ve come across. Since my ferry from Macau arrived early and I had 6 hours to kill at the airport, I decided to set base in this lounge. It’s an open layout with a nice view of the airport and as such you don’t feel confined in a room setting. It has pretty much everything you need to relax before your journey and the selection of food and drinks was great. Free WiFi, comfy chairs, couches, showers, TVs, clean bathrooms… As good as it gets!

On my last flight departing from HKG, I had the option of going to either this or the Plaza Premium Lounge. Having tried both, the food selection between the two are quite similar — it seems like they are from the same catering company. Would be nice if this lounge had a noodle bar. The one thing I liked about this lounge was that it wasn’t busy as the other airport lounges at HKG.

The United Club at HKG is probably the nicest outpost of all the United clubs I’ve ever visited — however, it still doesn’t stack up to the swankiness of the Virgin Atlantic Hong Kong Clubhouse(the best!). Still, this is a great place to relax as you ease into your long haul flight frame-of-mind. You’ll find miles of seating, international hot and cold food options that are changed over often, fresh-squeezed juice, hot soy milk(delicious!), robust wi-fi, and showers for those who are in-between flights. My only complaint is there’s often piles of trash left on the tables which doesn’t get picked up frequently enough. Yep, it’s pretty unsightly. I’m always happy to kill some time in the United Club versus dealing with the chaos at the gate!

In A Nutshell: –Ah lounges a place to temporarily escape the stresses of travel… this lounge has all the creature comforts. –Great food options, liquor, sodas, bottled water, soups, salads and showers. –Free Wi-Fi as usual. –If you decide to use the shower or borrow a power adapter all you need to do is provide your boarding to the nice attendants at the front desk. Overall, this wasnt the best lounge I’ve frequented but, if you need a place to relax and clean up before your departure stop at this United Lounge.

If you’re waiting at HKG, you couldn’t do better than the United Club(granted you have access). The selection of complementary food and drinks is pretty good! The night I was there, the drink selection included sodas, water(Perrier and still), liquor, canned beer(e.g., Tsingtao, Asahi, Carlsberg, Budweiser), and red & white wine(nothing too fancy). The food selection was also pretty generous, including: Japanese curry, oden, bbq pork ribs, samosa, fried egg and noodle dumpling, make-your-own noodle station, fried rice, potato gratin, finger sandwiches, and little dessert treats(e.g., cookies, tiny cakes/pies). The food is pretty good, too. It’s kept in chafing dishes so don’t expect gourmet-quality stuff, but considering it’s complementary, you can’t do much better. They don’t skimp out on the facilities, either. Clean bathrooms, plenty of seats, couches and tables, showers, fast wi-fi, free magazines and newspapers… all while watching the plebs below you scurry about the airport.

One of the best United Club lounges we’ve been to(definitely better than the one at LAX). We stayed here for 3 – 4 hours last week, as we were waiting for our flight out of HK in Terminal 1. This place is equipped with showers, a wide selection of food and drinks, big screen tvs, magazines, newspapers, and cushy chairs/sofas to boot. :) Food includes dim sum, Japanese curry, Indian cuisine, American cuisine, bottled drinks, sodas, wine/beer, and more. If you have a long layover at HKG, then hitting up one of the lounges is a must. :) Definitely beats having to sit in one of the regular gate seats… See here for more photos:

I hate writing this review but the state of air travel in the US is at its worst point in my history of travel. United does not seem to get it at all. I seriously wonder what these folks do in the executive team meetings and how they make decisions. Its astonishing in this day and age, that a company can get away with this. Here is a few examples of companies they should study to see how to get it right. 1) Apple 2) American Express Centurion Lounges 3) Starwood SPG Program 4) Cathay Pacific 5) Virgin Airlines

I know, I’ve one stared most United Clubs. Not the one in HKG! Fabulous. Bring your Tupperware for the trip home to the U.S.A. I do every time for my 11 hour flight home to SFO. Shameless? I don’t care. Hot meals. Taco Bar, a Rice Plates, Lo Men, and Jook to start. Sushi rolls, tea sandwiches, cup noodles, open bottles of libations, soft drinks, fruit! Just think of a snack and they have it! Clean and quiet. Courtious service. A great place on my journey home.

Excellent… Great food and selection. Far superior than any United Lounges in the US. Need newer furniture. It’s pretty shabby.

Been here several times before flights. Multiple food station offers a combination of oriental and western food including self served chicken noodles, fried rice, fruits, salads, beer and wine. Shower room access is also provided.
