We came here after visiting Gordon Ramsey’s restaurant and realizing that they don’t serve the beef wellington at this location. We were very disappointed and opted for a much cheaper place for lunch. This place is downstairs and there’s no elevator. Once inside, the dining area is quite large and comfortable. They offered us an English menu. We got the beef brisket noodle soup, shrimp wonton soup, rice noodle with beef and rice noodle with chili and pork. The verdict? Well, my personal favorite was the beef brisket soup noodle. It’s not a very big bowl. It’s bigger than a snack but smaller than a meal. Anyhow, there were good number pieces of beef. The soup was very tasty and the noodle very thin and got good chew to it. My next favorite was probably the shrimp wontons. These wontons were packed with good size shrimp. We opted for the 7 piece wonton soup without the noodles. The waitress told us the shrimp wontons were their specialty. I was surprised the beef brisket noodle soup wasn’t. Anyways, she also said the rice noodle with chili and pork was also their specialty but it wasn’t impressive at all. The pork was not pieces of pork, rather, it was minced porked. I liked this one the least. The rice noodle with beef was pretty good too. The beef was very tender. I was disappointed that the rice noodles were a little overdone and they were not the thicker, chewiers kind. This place did provide free tea and napkins. Their bathroom was also very clean. Service was definitely above average. They do charge a 10% service fee and do take credit cards. Most of their clients are business men and women.

Don’t know why this place received such great reviews. I ordered the two dishes by which all places like this should be judged: the pork and thousand year old egg congee and the wonton noodles. The congee had good flavor, but the pork in the congee was stringy and tough which was very off-putting. The wonton nooodles were good, but doesn’t even compare to Tsim Chai Kee. The wontons themselves were ok, but poorly executed. They were overcooked and the skin was falling apart.

This is one of the fancy congee wonton places where a meal would cost $ 90−150… except at breakfast. The place is empty at breakfast when I came in at 8:30am. A bowl of congee + a drink would normally cost $ 65 only cost $ 32 in the morning. The bowl is not very big but at $ 32 including a drink, it’s very competitive. BTW, the congee is very very good & there is a 10% service charge.

Great place for lunch, 36 $ Hong Kong dollars for a wonton noddles soup and came with a milk tea. It might be kinda hard to find. It’s under ground.

幼麵好好味, 彈牙, 沒有鹹水味. 服務好, 價錢合理, 讚! One of the best egg noodles in town! They have the right texture and without the alkaline flavor that I detest, guess they rinsed their noodles really well after cooking. My favorite was the lo mein with the spicy pork sauce on the lunch special menu, which also came with a plate of boiled veggies and a drink for around HKD $ 70. Not bad for the quality in the Central area. The restaurant gets really packed during weekday lunch time, but the good thing is they turn tables really quickly and all the tables need to be shared if necessary just like many other fast food type restaurants in HK. Definitely not the kind where you will sit down and chit chat with your friends. Having said that, of course this is also good for takeout, which I have done three times in a month because my dad absolutely loves the noodles! Surprisingly, the service was amazing. I was ordering takeout in person one day(during off hours though). I was really thirsty and asked for a glass of water. They actually gave me a tea cup with a tea pot. How nice! The staff there were willing to customize your order too. They charged reasonable prices for something that’s not on the menu. If I’m in the area and craving egg noodles, I’ll definitely stop by here. This place might be hard to find for foreigners because I don’t know if they put an English name out there. But look for the sign of three big yellow Chinese words that points you down the stairs to the basement for some delicious noodles! This is the name in Chinese 黃枝記
