Woobar

This review is for Wednesday cheese/​wine tasting night.
W Hotel has its reputation worldwide, and W Hotel Hong Kong lives up to its name. Although it is not located at Central, Woobar managed to pull quite a good crowd here every Wednesday. For HKD$ 298 you can have free flow cold cuts, cheese samplings and wine. It was definitely not a usual dinner, as the only actually «food» that could fill you stomach was ham. But we were here for one and only one reason — boozing it up. So we were definitely very satisfied.
We were seated at the innermost section of Woobar, which gave us quite some exclusivity, compared to the open hall next to the buffet area. The cheese and ham selections were quite decent, and never short of refills.
The wine selection apparently targeted the casual wine drinkers, and potentially more for the ladies. The red was light in tanning, and both the white and sparkling selection was off dry or plain sweet. The wine stopped at 10pm, and you better got your full glass of refill before that.
All in all it was a good Wednesday night out. Nothing too crazy, good vibe, and kinda had to finish by 10ish, which made the end of the night pretty civilized.

Wine-​derlust Wednesday is my best remedy and midweek indulgence. I always go back on Wednesday for more wine and cheese.
Before noticing the Wine-​derlust event, I have never wanted to visit WOOBAR because of its location. I’m always lazy to go all the way to Kowloon side just for a drink, not to mention W Hotel is almost only reachable by MTR. It’s not a good place for pre-​drinks before hitting LKF, nor is it good for a late drinking night as I live on Hong Kong Island. However, spending a night with wide varieties of wine and unlimited cheese sounds good to me.
Every Wednesday, WOOBAR has an incredibly good deal priced at $ 278 per person, including free flow of wine and cheese from 8pm to 10:30pm. You can choose from rosé, white, red, sparkling and more. I usually start my night with a glass of sparkling rosé, which is sweet and appetizing. I like having my wine with nibbles from their cheese and charcuterie selections. My favorite section has to be the fondue table, featuring a warm, aromatic pot of cheese and toasted bread cubes on the side. I could drown in the pool of cheese.
