This was the first Wetherspoons I visited, and at first it is like — Yay! Cheap Craft Beer! Cheapish food! This is brill! Unfortunately, when you have gotten used to the craft beer that is being offered in Ireland, you come to notice that the ‘craft’ beer they are offering is a bit bland. Good for when you are watching 2 rugby matches in a row, keeping your costs down, and you are not really paying attention to the beer — but not if you actually want to appreciate what you are drinking. As for the food… cheap and cheerful — nothing to write home about generally, though the last time I was in there the ribs were really succulent! All round, good for a cheap pint and lunch or dinner if you are around Blackrock.

This is the Wetherspoons in Blackrock. It’s a nice spot to grab lunch or for drinks after work. They have a nice outdoor area as well. The food is pretty good and the best part is all the food and drinks are very inexpensive. You can get a meal for about € 6-€ 7 and pints are € 2.50. They have a good selection of food and drinks which is amazing at the prices they have.

Did not know this was a Wetherspoons brand until we arrived! What a fabulous little find, great food for a great price! Will definitely be back here again!

Unless you’re looking to get wasted on € 10, I’d avoid. No music, lacks any atmosphere, tacky interior, staff who couldn’t care less, microwaved food. you can see where I’m going with this. It’s the McDonald’s of the pub industry. Yes it’s very cheap, but that’s definitely not always a good thing. I’d visit any other pub in the town before this place.

This is a high volume pub. The beer and cider selection is excellent but the food is definitely subpar. The only vegetarian option is a curry, even the salads all come with meat of some sort.

It’s a Wetherspoons. Ok food. To be honest it’s just average but hey if you want a cheap pint in Blackrock then you should visit here!

I totally love this place. I have been hanging around Blackrock for months and I only found out this place recently. The most striking thing about this place is that they have beer pints for 2.50. And it is good beer! I was impressed first time I came here. They have about 25 label ranging from 2.50 to 2.95. The place is also cool. Spacious, clean and a beer garden on the back of the building. The food is amazing too. And as cheap as the beers(sometimes). Last time I went it was Curry club Thursday. That guys def know what they are doing ;-)

Stopped in for an early lunch and today and thought great it’s not busy. Walked past 4 staff on my way to a table and sat down. After 10 minutes and two of the staff walking past the area I was sitting in I began to think this was strange. Gave them 5 more minutes and left, passing the same 4 staff chatting as I made my way to the door. I don’t think waiting 15 minutes just to be acknowledged is too much to ask. Went to the Wooden Spoon down the street and was acknowledged and service quickly. They were very busy and the food was very good. Retraction: A friend of mine explained how Three Run Tavern(Wetherspoon) works and I am glad he did. You order your food at the counter then you sit down(now I get it). It would have been great if the staff would have pointed that out to me, however, enough slagging. The food was good and more affordable than I was expecting as was the drink. Have been to the one in Dun Laoghaire and was impressed with that one too. Also the interior is clean and modern. I’ll be back.

Yesterday I have shared an excellent meal with very nice people, in a fantastic area close toDublin(20 min. on the DART from Tara street station) Blackrock. The place is very loud but people are nice and smiling. The systemnis quite easy: do not wait for a waitress and go order your drink and meal at the bar… You do not know your table number… You got yourself into trouble… You go back to your table with your drink and a nice and sweet young fella will bring you your plate in a couple of minutes! Why nobody to serve at your table… to keep low prices and it works! 2 beers, sparling water a piece of cake and a nice meal for 15 euros! The menu provide the amount of calories for each options, yahoo!

Just went in. Didn’t even sit down. Dump with no atmosphere. Cheap drink does not make for a good pub. Stay well clear. Such a disappointment on what it used to be. Hopefully weather spoons put a cap on their plans for ireland. What a kip

Check out those prices !!! I actually thought the bar maid had made a mistake: € 7.40 for two absolutes with soda. You really can’t beat that — in fact 50% less than I had been paying in other local pubs earlier that night. I was actually quite presently surprised with the décor as I was expecting something really cheap looking. Ok so it’s very bright and a little soulless and the lack of music makes for terrible acoustics but at those prices I could forgive them. Some really nice touches like the taps at the end I the bar so you can help yourself to water. It certainly won’t be replacing my favourite pub any time soon but when you are raiding the piggy bank at the end of the month it’s really not a bad option.

Cheep as chips and the quality of food is good and solid. It’s not gourmet food, but it’s not fast food. Staff are very friendly. Loved they they would stop and have a chat and answer any questions I had. The choice of ciders is brilliant. It is so good to go to a pub and choice that it beyond the normal two. I will come back here and I am glad that there is not some actual competition in the Irish pub market.

The one thing to note here is not that the three tun tavern is above average or even below average but that you get what you pay for in this life. Jd Wetherspoons is like an irish pub on the outside but different on the inside. You take away the music and the nice carvery or lovingly prepared a la carte menu and this is what you are left with. If this pub was an airline you are talking Ryanair. If it were a car it would be a Dacia Duster. My point being that Wetherspoons is the no frills pub, it will get you to where you want to go if you want to go there. If you are hungry they will feed you cheaply and if you are thirsty they will wet your whistle cheaply too. If you want ‘the craic’ then be prepared to bring it with you and pass it on the sly to your friends beneath the table! Its akin to a 99 icecream but without the flake, bonny without Clyde or maybe mass without holy communion!

In brief I’d say cheap and cheerful. As long as you don’t expect to get 1st class food /drinks to very low prices you’ll be grand — you’ll get good food and drinks at very low prices. And seeing how busy they are every time I was there the concept seems to work — on me too. I won’t become my favourite pub as I do like others better but it’s definitely one I go to the odd time. Being busy is probably as well due to the fact that the BFEI /College is just accross the road and it’s definitely ideal for students but the audience is a complete mix of ages. Having to go to the bar to order both drinks and food is fine with me and worth the money they safe on staff for that. Speaking of which — no complaints whatsoever about the staff.

«The very definition of average» What can you say other than average. Personally the staff explaining how the concept and menu operate is odd the first time but when they feel they need to do it 3 times then its annoying. Food is overcooked but ok and its what I expected. Priced well and a nice airy pub with comfortable chairs etc. Try it and see what the hype iz about.

First time here, although I’ve been to Wetherspoons in the UK. The price might be right but the food has a bit of living up to do. I had the Five bean chilli with chips. Comes with rice and some tortillas on the side, although the point of the rice was beyond me. It was cold, hard and maybe undercooked? The chips we’re chunky and soaked up all the vinegar– I liked that. The atmosphere is odd, just lots of noise from people conversing, no background music-though this might suit others. The staff are lovely, if not a bit wary looking– buts it’s a new venture here so I’m sure everyone’s a bit anxious. The décor is what I was expecting. Will return to try the ribs.

Well — what can I say — it is what they say it is! A Wetherspoons pub! Blunt and to the point! No music, no table staff, order all drinks from the bar, no TV for sport. They are cheap for pints, 3.75 for about 5 of the pints on the menu, most I’ve never heard of and the one I did ordered was to say the least! not very nice and kinda warm! I think it was Adanam’s! The other few«main stream» pints such as Heineken & Beamish are all around the 4.75 mark. Over all the food and drink is cheap, but you’re paying for what you get! I had a burger and chips, not much to write home about but all the same it filled me up and was cheap! Personally, I prefer the service and quality that comes with paying that few cents extra on the pint in an Irish style pub with everything that we’re used to. but thats just me!
