Since I’ve taken up real estate at Barry’s 3 times in the past week I figure I at least owe them a positive review on Unilocal! Whether you’re looking for a spot to meet someone for business over a mid-day coffee, friends socially for drinks, or seeking a more substantial meal– lunch or dinner– Barry’s is a one size fits all type of place! The food is always delicious and reasonably priced. I’ve had everything from a simple sandwich to a full lunch, and enjoyed a good steak for dinner more than once. We’ve also visited as a family with 3 boys in tow, and never had a problem meeting their current discerning tastes! Service is always polite, professional and accommodating. Barry’s also has very reliable wifi, and while I’m always cognizant of not taking up space that can be better monetized, the staff has never hassled me if my stay extends well beyond what my final bill would normally dictate! If you’re in Douglas, Cork, and need a spot for any of the reasons stated above don’t miss Barry’s!

Didn’t eat here so I can’t comment on the food. BUT we went here for drinks after dinner. This place had great drinks and the DJ was amazing! We had only planned to stay for 1 drink and then head to center city. We ended up staying for a few hours and making friends with some locals. Would have stayed longer expect our new friends were going to another place so we joined them.

Good all round boozer for grub and a night out. They used to have a better menu which means I don’t go there as much any more.

I may be partial to this place because it was a very welcome stop after 24 hours of traveling, but I really liked Barry’s. We ordered our first Guinness in Ireland here and our server brought them to us with shamrocks stamped into the foam. Here I ordered the Clonakilty Black Pudding for dinner, which I really enjoyed. It was two patties with goat cheese in the middle, and comes with apple chutney. I would definiely recommend this; however, it wasn’t until the next day I realized one of the main ingredients is pigs blood, which the server failed to mention. So, I won’t be eating it again but if that’s not a problem for you go for it. Other items my group ate were the hamburger(really big), fish and chips, pasta, and seafood chowder which apparently was amazing. It was all decorated for Christmas and even had an American football game on TV in the bar!
