Lovely, interesting pub. Lots of nooks and crannies to hide in. Friendly locals interested in chatting too.

I gotta say, the whole name switch on the front(says Peter Matthews but is McPhails) is a little confusing, but luckily we figured out where to go. Anyway, McPhails sounds like something I would call like McDonalds or something if I were making fun of it… Anyway we had such a great time and the atmosphere of this place is great. I love how there is the live band and crowded bar atmosphere, a random casual walkway that you can hang out in, or for some quieter privacy you can go outside to the tables. Great variety! If I ever find myself in Drogheda again, I would definitely go back. Also, one of the bartenders is a babe ;)

You can’t go to Drogheda and not visit McPhails. Now you may be confused by the fact that the signage still says Peter Matthews. Have no fear, you are in the right place. Very, very cozy pub in front and a larger bar area in back where live music is frequent. They have a good-sized beer garden with heater lamps as well. For the ladies, there is a hair straightener in the women’s toilets that you can use for € 2. I did not use it, but I have to say I haven’t seen such amenities in a pub before. Definitely a place worth checking out.
