i was just contacted by Glen and i’m adding an extra star to my review for this. he was very gracious and said that if i had come back in, he would have fixed the piercing for free. unfortunately, i’ve moved away and can’t, but the gesture is much appreciated.

A lady friend of mine wanted to get her belly button pierced and I said I’d come along. The piercing studio is really just a back-room of a sex shop and, as seedy as that sounds, it really wasn’t bad as much as it was weird. When we arrive, after walking past loads of PVC outfits, phallic toys, and other fetish merchandise — we met Glen. Glen and a woman were discussing compost. It was surreal. He was very polite and professional. Amiable is a brilliant word to describe him. He had her fill out a form and led us to the back room, which is where he did his ‘magic’. Everything seemed clean and sterile, though I can’t say to be an expert in this area — he did seem to dispose of parts that came in contact with her and everything was wrapped in plastic ahead of time. The price was reasonable and non-Yelp reviews fairly good. If you mention his website, it is 36 Euros, otherwise the procedure is 40 Euros including the belly-bar yoke. It was done before you could blink. I thought it would of taken longer with more preparation. There was no screaming or anxiety. I told Glen I would of thought there’d of been screaming and he wryly replied, ‘From her or me?’

Just to preface this review: I’m a man’s man, alright? I watch GAA, drink pints and put on aggressive alpha male displays in misguided attempts to impress female. I’m all man, I have never found the need to avail of the services of Adonis Body Piercing, yeah? I just had cause to visit the place a number of years ago to give a friend moral support. Hope that’s cleared everything up for you all. You might never have noticed Adonis Body Piercing as you walk down South William St. That would be because Adonis is located in the back of Miss Fantasia’s, a sex shop, which you may have noticed. My first, and to date only, experience of the wonders of Adonis Body Piercing occurred a number of years ago, more than a few, as I was still in school and not even eighteen yet. A friend of mine was getting her belly-button pierced, so I went along better to give her moral support, and probably also for want of anything else to do. And it was quite exciting, walking through a real-life sex-shop, looking at the walls lined with all these exotic wares(and no doubt not having the slightest clue how any of them were meant to be used). My friend was understandably a little nervous; she was even younger than I was, and had never really done anything of this nature before. And then we met Glen. In tattoo and piercing circles, Glen is something of a legend. He’s one of those people who decide to really go for the whole body-art thing — he has loads of plastic pellets embedded under his skin and everything. As a result of this, he’s a pretty strange looking guy, by conventional standards. But he isn’t unfriendly. In fact he may be a little too friendly, as his efforts at seeming amiable and ebullient resulted in him seeming more like he was manic and unbalanced. This isn’t very reassuring if you’re about to have your flesh penetrated with a sharp metal object wielded by this person. My friends nerves deteriorated somewhat. However, the job was done quickly, professionally and relatively painlessly, with a nice sterilised dressing at the end. Soon my friend had forgotten about her mental trauma, and had a bellybutton the envy of every girl in school. So if you do want something pierced, head into Adonis Body Piercing in Miss Fantasia’s, and be sure to ask Glen to show you some of his more crazy additions, he won’t mind and in fact appreciates people’s interest.
