It is impossible not to love this little pub. Its big neighbour — Doyle’s — actually works a good reference to find this little place. It looks small on the outside — and it is really small inside! But it is lovely and clean and irish old =)
It is also a whisky bar — they have hundreds of different labels — but I always go for the old jamerson — don’t know why. The beer is not expensive but not so many options.
Anyway, this place is perfect for small groups and maybe private parties. Or even as a warm up for the night.

Classic Victorian style pub! Over 200 whiskeys on sale, Dublins best pint of Guinness and friendly bar staff!(don’t forget the awesome ham and cheese toasties!) Very hard to leave once I find a seat!

What a lovely, small and old fashioned pub. Loved it. It of course has a snug which unfortunately but not surprisingly was occupied when we came in but that didn’t made it less lovely to be here. Old dark wooded interior adds to the atmoshphere.
They have a decent variety of craft beer, both draft and in bottles so that’s an added plus.
Glad I finally discovered this little gem and I hope to be back soon.

Lovely pub to meet friends for a quiet pint. It’s a real hidden gem, tucked away from the hustle and bustle of nearby College Green and Grafton Street. Bowes’ also has a wonderful selection of craft beers, tasty whiskies, and of course the obligatory ham and cheese toastie. Well worth a visit.

Il s’agit d’un pub typique irlandais (un vrai) en plein milieu de Dublin. Nous y sommes allés suite à la lecture de plusieurs blogs qui le mentionnent. Pas de déception l’endroit est cosy et agréable. Vous aurez assez de place pour vous installer et passer un bon moment. Le service est très aimable et saura vous renseigner parfaitement sur les bières qu’on né trouve que difficilement ailleurs comme la o’Hara’s ou la hop head! Également une grande variété de whiskys!
Try it!
It’s a typical irish pub in the city center of Dublin. You can find reviews about it in many blogs that’s why we decided to try it. We were not disapointed ! The atmosphere is cosy and quiet. There is a big choice of beers and whiskyes and the staff is very helpful.
You can find beers like O’Hara’s and Hop Head there !
So do not hesitate to try it anymore !!!

Unfortunately if you want to pay with a US credit, contrary to visa/​MasterCard rules they insist on charging you in USD using «dynamic currency conversion» and in doing so mark up everything by a claimed 3.5% (and actually closer to double that — on top of the disclosed markup they use a poor exchange rate). This is impermissable by visa/​MasterCard rules. Avoid if you would pay with a foreign CC.

Despite spending my formative years next door in Doyle’s, I never found my way into Bowes pub next door until yesterday. What a hidden gem! A nice, relaxed old fashioned pub with a big selection of craft beers. My only gripe is that they don’t sell any craft cider, only bulmers or kopparberg, but still will have to visit again soon.

Decent ‘nough pints, a bit on the spendy side, and LOADS of bottles of beer you’re not too likely to come across many other places.
This is an old school bar for old school beer lovers. So come along and drink there.

Gem of a place. I have absolutely no idea how this place is still a secret, but it is. Perfect place for a quiet pint with a best mate and a classic example of a beautiful Victorian Dublin pub. They’ve tapped two of O’Hara’s beers (red and white) in my absence, which if you don’t know already, is a very good thing. The staff here are also a high point, same people have been behind the bar for years and they’re always warm, friendly and well capable of pouring a top notch pint. I’m not sure if it still happens, but I used to pop in here on a Sunday for a bit of trad. Eoin Dillon of Kila fame would often be found sitting in the corner pipering away.

Irish weather isn’t all bad news. If it wasn’t for the traditional July downpour, I’d never have ended up in this excellent boozer.
To be honest, I’ve wandered down Fleet Street enough without ever seeing the place, although that might have something to do with Dublin Buses parked outside that have given the place a perpetual yellow and blue camouflage.
It’s an old-​school sort of pub with some excellent beers on offer. As someone who’s pretty much allergic to any kind of stout (it’s what happens when you grow up in the town that invented Murphys), I didn’t have high hope when a bottle of O’Hara’s was presented. Making a stout that tastes a lot like coffee is inspired though and Bowes has a whole range of beers from Carlow Brewing to work through!

Grossartiger Pub, freundliches Personal und recht gemütlich. Und vorallem nicht so überlaufen wie all die Konkurrenz. Das Bier ist auch einige Cents billiger als anderswo.

Ah carpet in pubs — seemed like a great idea back in the day when smoking masked the smell of stale spilled beer.
Well, Bowes has carpets. And that would-​be panelling stuff on the walls (is it wood? is it wallpaper?). It’s an old man pub with real live old men — the kind of pub that the Temple Bar, Oliver St John Gogarty etc are pastiche of. Great spot for a pint or several. And if you’re still thirsty when the bar closes at half eleven you can go next door to Doyles (beloved of Trinity students — but don’t worry, they don’t venture into Bowes much, another reason why it’s a great pub!).
