Butlers Townhouse

The employees are lovely, wonderful people. Very helpful and very welcoming, and quick with a good suggestion for dinner, sightseeing or travel tips. And the breakfast is pretty good.
But… the wifi is atrocious, even with «boosters» which they supply if you ask. And the few and far between electrical outlets are situated under furniture or in other awkward positions. So if you want to plug in and recharge your phone, you’re going to have to stoop and squat.
I stayed here a couple years ago and was told that the hotel had gone through a major rennovation between my stays. Frankly, all that I could discern was that the beds had been improved and some of the walls had had wallpaper removed and replaced with paint. Slight mold and mildew signs were still present in the bathrooms, and the toilets still need a bit of convincing to flush.

In the shadow of the great football stadium in the Ballsbridge section of Dublin, Butler’s Town House Hotel is an outstanding place to stay in Dublin, if you like quaint furnishings and highly personal service. It feels more like a wonderful B&B than a hotel, without all of the B&B quirks. It’s not in the downtown area of Dublin, but a DART train station a block down the street will take you to the city center in just minutes.
The rooms are cozy and comfortable. Their breakfasts were some of the best that we had on our 12 day trip, with the best porridge that I’ve ever had, and farm-​fresh poached eggs that beat many of the larger hotels breakfast fare. Even with Madonna performing one night of our stay, it was still easy to get there and back with 50,000 people milling in and out of the nearby stadium. If you want to stay nearby for a show or sport, this is definitely a hotel to consider. Far nicer than the bus&truck hotels across the street.
From the minute you get there the owners make you feel like family. It was an unexpected, and most pleasant surprise that was one of the hotel highlights of our tour. I’d gladly stay there again in favor of hotels in the city center bustle.

Zunächst einmal serviert das Hotel ein sehr gutes Frühstück und hat einen sehr zuvorkommenden, freundlichen Service. Man kann die innerstädtischen Bereich gut zu Fuß erreichen. Sauberkeit ist nicht optimal und die alten Badezimmer mit den auf der Insel typischen separaten Wasserhähnen sind etwas eng und wenig einladend. Die Zimmer die im georgianischen Stil eingerichtet sind, plüschig und ein wenig eng, haben nur kleine Einbauschränke. Steckdosen im Bad nur für Rasierer, wenige Parkplätze vor dem Haus.
