There are free tastings every day in-​store with regular event tastings and private whiskey tastings available to suit customer’s needs.

The shop also runs an exclusive wordlwide Irish whiskey club called the Celtic Whiskey Club.

History

Established in 2003.

The Celtic Whiskey Shop is Ireland’s premier whiskey shop and is based in the heart of Dublin city centre. First opened in June 2003, it has become a mecca for whiskey lovers both in Ireland and abroad. Over the past 10 years, we have built strong ties with all the producers of Irish whiskey and regularly offer exclusive whiskeys, whiskey launches, tasting evenings and distillery trips.

Located at 27 – 28 Dawson Street, Dublin 2, Celtic Whiskey Shop is managed by Ally Alpine who has over twenty eight years experience in the trade, along with a very talented and friendly staff. Darragh, Seamus, Derek, Al and Stephen are the regular staff who serve up in-​store whiskey tastings all day, every day! They have a wealth of whiskey and drinks industry knowledge which they are only too happy to share.

I was severely disappointed in my experience with this shop.
While their selection is superb, their salespersons pushed very hard to upsale my choices and dissuaded me from my first choices.
The thing that very much dissapointed me though, was an underhanded tactic in the name of charity.
They run a campaign in the name of Mary’s meals, a foundation to feed needy children. Which is fine.
What isn’t fine is that they make a mandatory donation and append it to your retail sale within the store, and make no verbal mention of it, nor give you the option to out out. The sign stating they do this is really quite small, and even though it is by the register, it isn’t forthright.
I’m not sure that it is an entirely legal maneuver, but it happened.
I would look elsewhere for a more honest vendor in the future.

They certainly have the widest selection of Irish Whiskey and Scottish Whisky in a brick and mortar environment in Dublin. The have everything from run of the mill single malts to the rarer bottling including independent bottlers and everything in between from blended to no age statement. You can also find bourbon, Gin and many other spirits here. As the second part of the name suggests they carry lots of wines as well as beers but I mainly come here for the single malts.
The only downside here is price, they are priced at the higher end and you can find bottles cheaper on-​line or source them from other places around Ireland. Its not that I have a problem with the price but I do have an issue with +10% for some bottles.
Anyway, well worth a visit.

I love this shop!
The only place where I can find the most random things I might look for for my cocktail endeavours. There are often free tastings of whiskey and the staff are incredibly knowledgable about everything in the shop.
Things can be a bit pricey, but that seems to be what many of the patrons of this shop are searching for, because I’ve seen many take some very expensive recommendations from the staff.
My one complaint is that, because I like to peruse the stocks myself, and because I’m 21 years old and not the usual patron, I tend to get funny looks from the staff until I pick something up to buy it.
Meh, such is prejudice. They’re still very helpful if I have any questions.
Worthwhile if you’re a tourist with a taste for whiskey– you’ll find something perfect to bring home here!

Awesome place if you’re ever in Dublin and looking for whiskey or liquor in general. Staff is amazing and very helpful. I purchased a bottle of a whiskey liqueur while there based on one of the staffs recommendation. When I got home to the states and finally tried it I fell in love and wanted to purchase a few more bottles as Christmas gifts. I didn’t see the item on the website but reached out to Ally. She was so helpful, took my order and figured out why the liqueur wasn’t showing up on the website, basically got it all situated. I tried to see if I could purchase this liqueur through another website but couldn’t locate it anywhere so I’m very grateful to Ally and the Celtic Whiskey Shop team for their level of professionalism and more importantly, recommending such an awesome liqueur!

Wonderful little wine shop with a knowledgeable, friendly and helpful staff. We purchased a couple bottles of wine and after being offered several tastings from the whiskey side of the shop my husband was easily talked into a couple bottles of limited release Irish whiskey. If you are looking for good wine or for some great whiskey then check this place out.

What’s not to love about this place? Beverage city for grown-​ups. If they don’t have it here it will be tough to find in Dublin. Unfortunately alcohol is not a bargain here, but this is the place to lighten your wallet. Ask for a sample and very knowledgeable staff.

Huge selection of whiskey and love that there are lots of small bottles so you can try everything. Also, lots of great gift ideas can be found here. When you enter the store you’ll see a nice wine selection, and the room to the left is where you’ll find the hall of mini whiskey bottles and all your whiskey needs :)

A fine liquor shop, Celtic Whiskey.
And it’s not just whiskey sold here. While there is an emphasis on whiskey and whisky, you can also buy wines, other spirits and a selection of craft beer + cider.
There is a good team working the floor and they are always on hand to answer your questions or help you to a taster of what they have for sampling.
I did think it was a bit pricey though. We priced a Patron Tequila here at 60 EUR. Another off licence not far from here priced it at around 50 EUR… hmmm. We decided to leave it for the moment.
That said, I am glad tourists have somewhere like The Celtic Whiskey shop to go to when they want to get good advise on what to buy when they are here in Ireland.

I love this place. They have a pretty decent selection of Irish craft beer (which is nice considering they don’t specialize in that) but their real selection is in whiskey. They allowed me sample a few different Irish whiskeys before I made my choice, which was extremely helpful for me. By the end, I found a bottle of rare whiskey to take home for Christmas last year. I still haven’t opened it as it is only for a special occasion, but I’m extremely happy since I had never seen this anywhere else and never will again. The staff is friendly and helpful, the selection is great, and it’s not too tourist oriented like some scotch stores in Edinburgh.

Shop-keeper’s knowledge … vast (knows history, production, inventory, etc.)
Prices … crazy high just like it seems all alcohol is in this country.
Free regular tastings of both well-​known and obscure whiskeys make this place a definite swing-​by.
If you want something you can get anywhere, get it somewhere else cheaper … if you’re looking for something obscure and can’t find it anywhere, come here and you’ll probably find what you need.

The selection here is exceptional (even if the prices aren’t) so you can be confident that they will have whatever you need. It may be better known as a whiskey store, but this is literally the only shop in Ireland that stocks my favorite rum. For that reason alone I find myself in here with disturbing regularity. Disturbing but delicious.
Even though I come here for rum, the warm interior is built for whiskey. I feel the temptation every time I walk in, and someday soon I’ll be duped into buying a delicious € 60 bottle of Irish sunshine.

Excise taxes are ridiculous in Ireland, so the whiskey is absurdly expensive but the selection here is unusually good. So I picked up some of the little sampler bottles. I recommend Connemara cask strength single malt highly. Ialso got some saffron gin from France.

I must preface this by saying that I do not drink whiskey. But, a friend had requested that I bring back something that he couldn’t get in the states. The staff at the Celtic Whiskey Shop were very helpful! Thanks to them, I got him a nice sampling of Irish whiskeys. The selection was large, so I think if you were knowledgeable about whiskeys you could certainly find what you were looking for. One side of the shop is whiskey and the other is wine. The prices seemed a bit on the high side, but again I’m not sure what one would typically expect to pay for these whiskeys, and the service was worth it.

Rum, Gin, Bourbon. Aber die gigantische Auswahl an Irischem Whiskey läßt das Herz höher schlagen; hier findet man auch diverse Marken die ansonsten nicht in Deutschland und kaum in Irland erhältlich sind.
Meistens kann man zwei oder drei Marken direkt im Shop verkosten. Das Fachwissen und Freundlichkeit der Verkäufer ist überaus gut!
Für mich die perfekte Adresse, wenn’s um Souveniers aus Irland geht.

We chose to purchase some whiskey souvenirs during our trip to Dublin at the Celtic Whiskey Shop because a promotion they were running in conjunction with our Dublin Pass that gave us some free whiskey glasses with a purchase of 50 euro or greater.
I had been searching for a few bottles of much heralded Green Spot to take home and it was prominently displayed in this great little whiskey shop. They have a deep selection of wines and whiskeys here. Very obscure and expensive bottles of whiskey line the shelves here. The help was very kind and informative and offered us many options to get our purchases back home safely. I was so impressed that I will probably use this specialty whiskey shop to procure whiskeys from the British Isles that are difficult to obtain back home. I left very pleased.

The spirit selection here is superb. Upon walking into this cosy establishment, you are surrounded by friends on the shelves — a warm feeling I do enjoy.
The staff here are very helpful and you can find some nice and hard to find bottles. On occasion they have samples, around lunch time, of the spirits they are promoting.
One thing worth noting, however, is that their prices are higher than their competitors. Not marginally higher, significantly higher. For instance, a 700ml bottle of Jameson was 4 Euro higher than Dunnes around the corner or Tesco in Jervis.
For less common items, this is the perfect shop. Or if you had questions or wanted to broaden your tools of inebriation, then I’d rather seek counsel from this lot than your local teen at Tesco.

I came here looking for a bottle of Irish whiskey I wouldn’t be able to find in the States and explained this to the man counting money behind the counter (it was nearly closing time.) He conferred with another employee and decided that Cooley Distillery’s Greenore Single Grain Small Batch was the Irish whiskey for me.
While purchasing the booze, I explained that I needed to take the bottle back in my suitcase with me so it was promptly bubble wrapped.
While the selection here is grand, if you want to chat extensively before buying I recommend coming in well before closing. The environment was pretty frenetic (boxes everywhere, cashier visibly frustrated) when I stopped by near quitting time.

To say this is the spiritual home of Q is not some sort of bad pun (though in truth it is), nor is it an exaggeration, this is simply one of the best shops in the city if you are a fan of Irish, scotch or American whiskies. Oh they do other stuff like port and armanaque but it is not what they do really well.
Being that this is Ireland and the cost of alcohol is twice that of any other city in the world you would have thought that nothing in this shop is affordable — and indeed they do offer a couple of bottles for the 1,000 Euro mark but for the most part the prices are not stupid — sure this is present or ‘treat yourself’ territory but then when is a good bottle not?!
They do regular tastings so it is always worth stopping by just to sample what ever bottle is open on the day — last time I was there it was a Scotch from the Isle of Sky — so peaty it was practically alcoholic bog-​water… Lovely!

I personally know next to nothing about Whiskey (despite becoming a «certified» whiskey taster at the Old Jameson Distillery) but I’d like to know more. I keep thinking that if I know all about whiskey, I will gradually begin to like it. I have this image in my head of the kind of girl that drinks two fingers of whiskey on the rocks. That girl is a badass and, for whatever crazy reason, I want to be her.
This shop is step one in becoming that girl, because not only is it stuffed to the brim with dozens, maybe even hundreds of whiskeys, but the staff is extraordinarily knowledgeable. They know so much about the stuff, I kind of just want to hang out there and absorb as much information as I can. Hopefully I can absorb enough whiskey that it no longer tastes like jet fuel distilled through dirt.
Also, this is a way better place to get souvenirs for your friends and family. What are they really going to do with a keychain of a sheep wearing a leprechaun hat? They’re going to throw it away. Give em a bottle of whiskey and they’re going to really enjoy it. WITH YOU. Win win.
