Day Tour of Wicklow

This was a great day for us. Our driver was Joe and he was great and had lots of information about everything we were passing and the places we were stopping. The day was very entertaining and was one of the highlights of our trip to Dublin. I would definitely recommend the trip if you are interested in seeing the Irish country side.
There were many places to take photos were we had gotten some awesome shots. I really could not have asked for more from this tour and I appreciate all that Joe the driver did to entertain us on the ride there and back. I still have the song seven drunk nights in my head three weeks later.

This was a great tour, even tough is was greay adn cloudy all day. It was booked with grey Line Dublin and our driver was harry. Ask for Harry with the Hat. Harry couldn’t have worked any harder to entertain and educate us on the tour. He even sang a few Irish songs. During the trip to and from Wicklow, he provided a lot of very interesting stories, history, current and past politics that accompanied everything we drove by. It made the bus ride portion of the trip so much more interesting. Wicklow mountains are beautiful, I just wish we had a few hours to stop and hike through them.

Leider sind wir mit über 30 Minuten Verspätung in Dublin gestartet. Dies hat der Reiseleiter Jeff aber auf jeden Fall durch seine kurzweilige, informative und amüsante Moderation wieder wett gemacht. Gesungen hat er nur einmal udn das war vollkommen angebracht ;-)
Von den angekündigten Orten wurden alle besucht (Glendalough, Spaziergang zu den beiden Seen, Avoca Mills mit Führung etc.) Der complimentary Jameson ist wohl irgendwie untergegangen. Schade, wir haben aber auch nicht danach gefragt.

A great day tour from Dublin through the Wicklow mountains for only 24 € per person. Our bus driver was brilliant, he had a great humor and made the whole day very entertaining. He even sang a lot during the tour.
There are a lot of photo stops during the tour and you may get off the bus and take a lot of pictures, the bus driver will even take pictures if you want to be in it.
Locations visited were Glencree, Glendalough, Lough Tay and Avoca village.
Only downside: because of the big group size, it’s very anonymous. But some people might prefer that over smaller group tours ;)

Sehr schöné Ganztagestour in die Berge von Wicklow.
Abfahrtszeit ist abhängig vom Einstiegspunkt. Ich wurde direkt am Dublin Hotel um 10 Uhr abgeholt.
Nach einer Fahrt durch schöné Landschaften besuchten wir Glendalough, eine wunderbare Klostersiedlung aus dem 6. Jhdt. Die ausführliche Führung erklärte ausführlich den Rundturm, die Kapelle «St. Kevin’s Kitchen» und vieles sonstiges.
Später wurde Avoca besucht, hier gibt es die älteste Weberei Irlands, in der man bei Interesse ausführlich bei den Arbeiten zusehen kann.
Sehr bequemer Bus, ausführliche und gut verständliche Erklärungen.
Kleiner Tipp: Ich hatte vom Vortag ein Hop on-​Hop off Ticket und bekam deshalb 5.- Euro Nachlass bei dieser Tagestour (
)

Startpunkt der Tour in die Wicklow Mountains ist z. B:
O’Connell Street, Dublin 1 (direkt beim Tourist office)
Die Tour startet dort täglich um 9:15 Uhr und endet um etwa 17:00.
Die Tour kostet 24 Euro für Erwachsene und 22 Euro für Studenten.
Das Publikum war international und ein großer Anteil war U30 und viele Studenten.
Das Essen an den Stopps (Mittagessen in Avocha) ist nicht im preis inklusive.
