It is not easy to find, matter of fact, my friends recommended it and gave the instructions how to find it, but once you do — buonissimo :) I ordered panini and cannoli and both were great! The place is small, so be prepared for waiting and squeezing with other guest, especially during lunch time. Also, if you know Italian, make your order speaking Italian, you will get a feeling that you are in Italy :) Service is great and if you are looking for a REAL Italian place with REAL Italian cakes, don’t miss Dolce Sicily. Owner’s wife makes all the cakes, so, in addition, they are home made… Enjoy!

Nice and cosy coffee shop with a huge selection of pastries all freshly made, the coffee is tasty and powerful(well needed in my case) the staff are always friendly, nice place to stop off and let your mind wander off as if you were actually in italy

So, this makes me sad, but it has to be done. The name has changed to «Sweet Sicily,» but that isn’t all that has changed. The quality of the food has gone down – especially the soup. I thought it was my picky husband who always happened to get what he called the«strange-coloured, and slightly off-tasting soup,» but I got it the other day on my solo as well. Not only was I sad that he was right, as any good wife would be, but sad that one of my favourite restaurants has consistently been serving us weird soup. This place used to be a go-to for us, but it has just started to be less than ideal on freshness and flavour. I’ll give it a go probably in a month or so, but won’t be going every week again.

This sweet tiny bakery is located below the Design House on Dawson Street. The shop is cozy and cute. The employees are very enthusiastic and eager to help. This is the perfect place to stop in the afternoon for a great cup of coffee and something sweet. They offer sandwiches, paninis, soups, cannoli, and a beautiful assortment of delicious cakes. Try the Nutella and ricotta pie or pistachio cannoli… truly Sicilian! Dolce Sicily is a little hidden Dublin gem!

Cannoli as good as if not better than in Sicily! I had been on the hunt for a good cannolo since falling in love with them in Sicily and Dolce Sicily’s are sublime! They fill them to order which means the shell is crispy and the filling fresh. The tables are a bit closer than anyone would like but who cares when you’re mouth is full of delicious Sicilian pastry?

I absolutely loved this bakery! I see where Unilocal lists the location as now closed but I hope that isn’t true. It would be so sad if these treats no longer exist! I sampled the cannolis and they were delicious.

There is not much to be added to all the good reviews. Yes, the panino was delicious, yes, the nutella and ricotta tart was a dream come true. What I am going to rave about was the staff. I would go back just for them. Full of attention, chatty and ready to help, all in a very relaxed way. I like those places where the staff makes you feel comfortable. Even though our table was in an awkward spot, we felt very welcome and well fed.

Yesterday I was there for my first time. Curious, if I think that I live in Dublin since 2005 and only yesterday I was there. finally I found what I call Italian bakery in Dublin. First of all, I had a wonderful experience. I arrived and some one from the staff approcced me to help me: nice welcome. I explained that I was the girl who ordered the birthday cake and I was there for breakfast. She showed me where I could seat to plac my order. They have a room with extra tables where you can join your coffee and tea. In my opinion, make tue piace nice: you can seat and eat. It isn’t only a take: super! I noticed the variety of their cakes, croissants and other pastries: amazing. so I wanted to have a better look to them. I wanted to order the best dessert: unfortunately I couldn’t eat all of them. The waitress told me that I could. So I had a better look and I saw that the tables located at the entrance were free. Lucky girl… I asked to seat there. I meat the manager, the owner etc. lovely people. I also gave my not asked opinion on a topic. Probably I shouldn’t have to do, but it looked a good idea. I enjoyed my profiterole filled with pistachio cream. Yummy. The cappuccino was delicious, I liked it. The café is small but cute and you fell welcome. The quality is high, so I consider the price right for Dublin and for café. I paid 7.30 for a huge profiterole. The small ones cost 2 €, which is OK for a amazing quality provide. I returned few hours later to collect the cake, perfect, I was very happy. They helped me with an issue with my bag in a very busy time: I really appreciated it. I will return it soon. Unfortunately I live out town otherwise I would have come back today again for sure. their products are fresh and yummy, which is important for me. Some of them, I saw are delivered also during the day. So it is possible that you have extra options if you call in later than 11am. It is a café which sell high quality of Italian bakery. Simply WoW.

It’s just good. Honest, keep it to the basics and do it right. Good as very few places in Dublin. There’s no magic to what they do. But they put their Italian talent to it. Kind of explains why there were people waiting at the door to get in(it’s kinda cramped in there, that’s the only ‘but’). Service is great and with a smile. Just pick anything fro the menu and if you don’t like it, well, try the pastry counter at the nearest chain coffee shop, I’m sure you’ll like those(roll eyes).

Lovely bakery on Dawson St serving up some gorgeous desserts as well as some savoury items. The cannoli was pretty much perfection. Crispy outside and a lightly sweet ricotta filling. The flavours were unique and I enjoyed every bite. Will return!

I considered not writing a review for this place in an attempt to keep it a secret but it’s just too good not to share… This place is honestly one of the best cake places in Dublin! Located in the basement of the Design House on Dawson Street, you could easily walk by if you didn’t know what you were looking for. The décor is bright and colourful and your tea is served in mis-matched china(a particular love of mine). If you ramble upstairs(which is where the bathroom is) you walk through some of the shops selling a mix of quirky pieces, definitely worth a look. I opted for a mini pistachio choux bun and a mini strawberry tart(I couldn’t choose between the two so the ‘mini’ option was right up my street). Both were delicious and I would easily order either of them again. My friend got the raspberry cheesecake(after debating between that and the chocolate coconut crumb cake) and it was great too, she said it reminded her of those Petits Filous yogurts from her childhood, something she was delighted about! The cake menu is extensive and the specials on display and in the fridge really make the decision so much harder. The staff are great though and will happily help you make your decision(all of which I’m sure are delicious). We were lucky enough to get a table but the place was packed, both with people at tables and with take-away orders. I was tempted to get the Italian Hot Chocolate and after reading some other reviews I’m raging I didn’t. Oh well, I’ll just have to get myself back there ASAP to fix that!

This is only the second cannoli I have had in my life, and it was goooood! According to my Sicilian friend, Sweet Sicily’s cannoli are the real deal. They come in three different sizes(small, medium, large); go for the large, you can handle it. The basement café is really cute and staff are very friendly, the owners and staff are Sicilian. It was very busy and lots of Italian being spoken when I was their, so close your eyes and you’ll think you’re in Italy.

Sweet Sicily is a little gem of a café on Dawson Street, the owners are so warm and welcoming and the coffee is excellent, but the real reason to stop by is the cannoli… dear god, they are amazing! Crisp pastry filled with a lush, lemony mascarpone filling, they are the stuff a sweet-tooth’s dreams are made of! My partner, who’s tried the real deal in Sicily himself, assured me that these were better than the cannoli he’d had there — so no higher praise really!

Absolutely love this place. Cute little coffee/cake shop. They have a great selection of typical pastries and cakes from Sicily and, being Sicilian myself, I can say they are 100% authentic and super tasty. I would definitely recommend to anyone popping by to try the ricotta cannoli(they also have them in a smaller size, «cannolicchi»), they are honestly amazing. Tried also panini/soup and they are very good too. Prices are very reasonable as well, would definitely recommend this place to anyone who wants to try some authentic Sicilian treats.

This is by far, the cosiest place I’ve been to near the city centre. Craving a cake? Get here stat and order one with the *Italian* Hot Chocolate. I had an amazing carrot cake with the aforementioned chocolate drink on the side and it was, as they say, a stairway to heaven. If you’re feeling blue about the Dublin weather, stop by Sweet Sicily for a nice slice of cake and take a stroll nearby at St. Stephen’s Green to burn it off. If I’m ever making someone a Dublin bucket list, this little restaurant will definitely get featured on it.

Wow. If you are a cake lover, you need to check this place out. It’s hidden away down in the basement level of a Dawson St place, but it’s well worth checking out. It’s tiny and cute and the staff clearly love their jobs and the product they sell. Onto that. There are so many cakes they’d send ya cross eyed. Pastries, tarts, cakes, cupcakes, and any other variation you can think of. Every single thing I’ve tasted so far has been amazing. And I’ve tasted a few things. They all have a homemade kind of touch to them, but look beautiful like little pieces of art at the same time. My only complaint is that there is too much choice! How is one to make such a big decision?!!

A lovely cosy café that makes you feel on holidays in the middle of Dublin. With the staff being Italian and lots of italian customers you definitely forget you’re in an english speaking country. Obviously the fact that lots of italian people come here confirms that it’s pretty authentical food. Very friendly and relaxed staff despite the fact that it was pretty crowded this sunny Sunday afternoon. I went for the pine nut and custard cake(called torta something nonna) which was sweet but not too sweet and the nuts gave it an interersting kick. I just wasn’t convinced by the cappuccino I had hence only four stars.

This place is just lovely!!! Very tiny, indeed, but lovely. I found it ”accidentally” while I was waiting for a friend at a bus stop. I must say that their bright yellow color def caught my eyes =) We decided to check the place and we went downstairs. At first I thought we wouldn’t stay because all tables were taken, but the waitress said there was more seats on the back of the building. The cakes. And tarts. So hard to decide. I asked for help but I was told everything was delicious. I had then a Pear & Nuttela tart. Heaven. I had two! Carrot cake is my usual choice but it wasn’t very attractive like the tarts. Latte 2.80. It was good too. They have an offer: during the week coffee + cake is a fiver. It sounds good by me.
