Whereas DIT Aungier St provides non-​courses for vacuous people, DIT Bolton St provides real courses for real men. Engineering, quantity surveying… jobs that require the wearing of a tool-​belt.
Perhaps appropriately for the building that contains DIT’s architectural faculty, the college building on Bolton St is the most aesthetically pleasing of all of the myriad DITs. The building was purposefully designed as technical school back in 1911, on the site of the historic European Hotel. Although known as the college with all the hairy men (as per Rónán’s review), the increasing disparity of achievement between girl and their male counterparts in the Leaving Cert mean that more and more places in courses that require high points, such as engineering and architecture, are going to girls.
So in the last year or so, the gender disparity has evened out… a tiny bit. It still is Sausage City.

Word of warning… ladies-​do not go in here on your own.

This place is a complete and utter man fest. Now that’s not a bad thing necessarily, just a little intimidating!

If all the women in the world disappeared tomorrow it would look like this. Bolton Street, DIT’s school of Engineering and stuff, is a decidedly male dominated environment.
The place is falling apart and, due to multiple extensions, the floors don’t quite match up. With no women about to impress everyone’s wearing tracksuits, farting proudly, playing football indoors and generally being a big mob of smelly boys. The term ‘sausage-​fest’ springs to mind…
