I mean, it has everything. Nicest location that I saw? No absolutely not but if you need anything, you came to the right place. Groceries, kitchen stuff, so much stuff. Dunnes is like America’s super walmart. just alot nicer!

The Ashleaf Dunnes is pretty good. The Grocery is big, with lots and lots of check outs. The guy on the express till was friendly and polite. Nice to see for a young guy. The Homes had some cool stuff too, I got a funky apron and my partner a pretty cool lamp from the Paul Costello collection. It was pricey enough for Dunnes, his designer goods. The girl on the till was awesome as she went off on a bit of a hunt and found us the correct bulbs to use with the lamp. There is a clothing department too, but we didn’t venture up there. All and all an nice experience for a Dunnes Stores.

This is my neighbourhood Dunnes. It’s got all the necessities of any other Dunnes in area but I specifically come to this one because it’s within walking distance. However, as convenient it may be, I avoid it due to the nasty staff! No smiles, no patience, mean people who clearly dislike being there as much as I do. Using my chip-less Visa card credit from American confuses the staff at this Dunnes like non other. It only takes 2 staff, 1 manager and 2 forms of identification and a handful of scrutiny to successfully process a credit card at this Dunnes. Worst Dunnes in Dublin.

This is a pretty big Dunnes and so has most of the grocery things you’d expect. The homeware section in the front of the shop usually has nice shiny things that aren’t too pricey. They also do a smattering of furniture although that does tend to hinge on the pricey side of things. However if you need anything for your house this is usually a good place to start. Their cookware section is usually well stocked, and for some reason they sell a lot of photo frames. Upstairs there a smallish section of mens, womens and childrens clothing, which range in price although you can get a good deal on the kids stuff. Mostly they sell staples like t-shirts, tracksuits and jumpers, but they do have some fashion items as well particularly in the Savida section for women. The problem with Dunnes is that it can’t decide what it wants to be. In the 80s it was all about being cheap, then in the celtic tiger it went all upmarket, and now it’s being undercut by the German supermarkets. At the moment they’re dropping prices and trying to compete which works on some items but not in overall shopping trolley comparison I find. Still though this Dunnes is nice and it’s where I’d go for fresh bread, cakes and salads.

Well Dunnes have certain come along way. From being deeply uncool, shoddy and second rate back in the 80’s they’re now even more common then they were, this time however, people are flocking to Dunnes like never before. To be fair to the Dunnes brand they have pulled up their socks in a big way, with bigger selections of goods, better store layout and improvement of overall quality. Yes the white Dunnes own brand are everywhere still but in a more expanded and better quality range. Ashleaf is pretty much my local Dunnes so I’m a regular visitor, still cheapest for food, toiletries and general grocery items. The men’s clothes section still ain’t great but you can’t have everything I suppose. This store also does home wares and furniture in the front. As before Dunnes main selling point is cheapness, with specials in the grocery usually at the front of the store and always seeming to be biscuit and junk food heavy for some reason. Parking is free in Ashleaf for the first half an hour and has long opening hours.
