Its one plus is that it’s handy and there times when only junk food will do it. And as junk food goes it ticks the boxes just fine — the Eddies concept is built on cliché so you don’t expect its food to exhibit originality. The wait staff here are always lovely too. But, I found a dead moth stuck to the inside of my fries bowl so that fairly put me off the rest of my dinner(plus why do these things always happen as you reach the end of the serving?). When i pointed it out, I thought simply removing the fries from the bill was a lame response, but there you have it, and I was in no place to argue. Mind you, even the bill on the house could not have sweetened things enough to get rid of the queasy feeling that followed me round all evening.

This was always a go-to for the other half & i but we’ve found in recent times there are just so many similar and better value places that we find our selves there less often. Their milk shakes are still, in my opinion, the best in the city & they have their sliders & chicken tenders down to an art. But as far as value for money goes it’s not really great!

i love the milkshakes here, especially the aero and orieo milkshakes. they have updated the menus so they seem to have a little better selection than before. but i usually go there for a treat thinking YUM but often leave feeling bloated and groaning ‘why did i go there?!’

Well, it’s Eddie Rockets. If a pre-fabricated 50s American diner is your thing, you’ll feel right at home here, in whatever Dublin outlet you should happen to eat. It’s pretty popular with hordes of teenagers and as a pre-pub-dinner-solution, but has never appealed to me. To be quite frank, it differs not very much from McDonalds, when you think of the idea behind it… The diner in Phibsboro is your standard Rockets — right in the so-called Phibsboro Shopping Centre, if offers a nondescript menu of burgers, hot dogs, fries and shakes. No waitresses on roller blades, though.

As fast food goes, Eddie Rocket’s is usually thought to be a step above the average chippie, but I’m not sure I agree with this anymore. I’ve gone to this one in Phibsboro more times than I care to remember and I must say my last trip there was a major disappointment. I popped in with some friends after the pub to have the usual feed of burgers and fries, and while everything was edible, nothing was particularly tasty either. And the bacon and cheese fries that my mate ordered were vile. And they were a whopping € 5.15 too — so not worth it! Actually I think everything in Eddie Rocket’s is overpriced. I admit I’m a huge fan of the three way cup chilli but at € 7.65 that’s way too expensive as well. For their overall prices you could eat better food in a proper restaurant.

Eddie Rockets offers American style food with a 50s theme. There are a number located all over Dublin, and the food is generally the same from store to store. The menu is pretty much the same and the food is pretty decent. It is better than fast food and you can get a decent sit down meal for under 15 euro. This Eddie Rockets in Phibsobro is a good layout with enough seating and space. The shop is open late and there some nice pubs near by so its a good place to go post(or pre) drinking to get something a littler nice than a chipper or pizza. The milkshakes are one of the best things Eddie Rockets have to offer and this branch is no different when it comes to making quality shakes.
