The Emperor wears no clothes. This is a master class in how to take a load of posh sounding expensive ingredients like truffle, foie and scallops and then completely waste them by smearing them on a pizza or reducing them to a sludge. The prices are suitably extortionate to convince the diners that they are getting something special and in fairness it is a strategy that works, just not on me.

The food was excellent. The service was efficient. The bar manager Christian went out of his way to make sure our drinks were perfect. Definitely recommend! They gave both a Tapas menu and typical Irish menu. We had the Irish stew which was excellent.

I went to Fade Street Social with friends for St. Patrick’s day celebration. They were offering delicious free cocktail(dance of the feries) for this occasion. These cocktails rock! Fresh and moderately sweet. For dinner I has open mushroom ravioli, big one. They offer a big one and small one and I can tell that I think a small one won’t even feed a bird. So go for a big one and bare in mind it is still not really big. My friends had their pita, and it looks great. I would also recommend to try their side dishes, the cauliflower one and the baby potatoes — yuammy! I give 4 stars just because the service was very very slow, we had literally just for a waiter.

We had dinner last evening and my daughter had oysters. She didn’t even make it back to the hotel before she started vomiting. As she was eating them she was hesitant, but continued, thought the topping on the oysters was responsible. The atmosphere was lovely and lively, but a terrible way to spend a day on holiday. The entire day today has been ruined from exhaustion from violent vomiting and diarrhea

A bit of a disappointment after hearing good stuff about the place. Place seems to be too tightly packed for the capacity. Food wise their«pizza» was brilliant, sirloin was slightly overcooked and lamb unfortunately cooked to be dry.

I’ve been to both the restaurant and the tapas part and have come away with two completely different experiences! The tapas bar is totally fantastic– amazing food, good portion size and ok value. Fade street restaurant however was very disappointing! We felt totally ripped off and we were using a voucher!!! Basically everything has foam which I think creates a nice texture but really it is futile and it’s not fooling anyone. The starters were all based on cheap ingredients which is fine but they just didn’t deliver. I had the pumpkin flatbread and my partner had the trout salad. The main courses were very tasty but it wasn’t really made clear to us that we should be ordering extra sides. The steak came with a complimentary bowl of foamy mash(don’t get that at all?!) and we were made feel like we were getting something for free! It was like baby food. Also yet another cheap ingredient. The meat was lovely– I had the pork but it came with nothing and from reading the description on the menu that isn’t so obvious! Anyway we ordered the heir loom carrot salad then and to be honest that was the highlight of our meal! The desserts were so disappointing– stewed rhubarb with foam!!! There was no eating in it and the flavours were very samey. The other dessert was the reconstructed banoffi which was ok. I just think you should always have a chocolate option dessert! Rhubarb and banana flavours are very specific in terms of either loving or hating them. Again cheap ingredients that were sort of dressed up! Can’t remember what we had to drink. Disappointing dining experience all round but has the potential to give people more bang for their buck. People hate to feel ripped off so blatantly. Just to say we went for their pre-theatre menu so of course there’s not the same choice but if you are to take a stroll across the road at another well known and very busy restaurant you will get a fabulous 3 course meal for just € 25 that far exceeds the standards of fade street.

Lovely afternoon with a friend and a voucher… 1st course– Scallops/Cabbage soup and white pudding. okay it sounds… off but. it was soo tasty. I almost licked the plate. 1st bottle of Portugal house red… 2nd course — Trout/rabbit with chunky chips or mashed potatoes. 3rd course banoffe/rhubarb desert Yummmmm 2nd bottle of red and 3hrs later. the world problems are solved. although the game with the fruit flies still continue. slowly

We went there only because a friend suggested. When we checked the noise level, we suggested booking somewhere else, but the friend said he can’t because they’ve taken his credit card details to secure the booking! So we ended up going there first week of December when it even wasn’t still too Christmassy. The place was intolerably loud and noisy that we could barely hear each other. The staff had a menu-training session with us all! And there were a bunch of other specials and steaks on the wall that were too complicated for any of us to bother(and we’re not dumb people). Compared to other over-priced places where the size of the plate and the number of cutleries are 5 times the size of the meal that’s lost in the middle of the plate, this one had an OK portion, I don’t remember the name of the meal I ordered, but the honey mustard on it was ridiculously sweet and unpleasant. Should I mention it again? It was HORRENDOUSLYLOUD!

Tasty food; poor service. We came in on a Thursday at 8pm and got one of the last open seats. It took quite a while for a server to come by to take our orders — he didn’t introduce himself or explain the menu(which is large & confusing). The food that we had was good — but our main dish was salty due to the presence of too many lardons in our rabbit stew. The restaurant is very loud and navigating to your seat can be difficult because the tables are so close together.

I went to the à la carte restaurant and it was great! We had a Lamb stew and their kind of pizza with beef and truffle which was super tasty. To finish we had a traditional custard. Super food and a very good service. The place is like an old entrepôt.

Fade Street’s star has risen in recent years, navigating a potentially disastrous association with an RTE reality show to become a lively part of the city, filled with busy pubs and restaurants. Dylan McGrath’s bistro cum tapas bar, Fade Street Social offers punters the option to casually dine with smaller dishes or enjoy a more formal setting for dinner. Judging by the atmosphere on all floors at 7pm on a Monday evening, plenty of punters are availing of both. I arrive with a relatively large group of 9 and we are quickly seated upstairs for drinks. The vibe is relaxed and informal and the ladies in the party are enthused by the cocktail selection. Rather predictably, the Guinness is poor, however, and I am happy to be led to our table to order a bottle of the excellent Cotes du Rhone. The dining room is busy and reminds of a swanky Central London establishment, packed with a young, wealthy crowd. Which is fortunate, as the prices emblazoned across the various chalkboards are intimidating. Chateaubriand by the gram along with some stylish cuts of beef catch the eye, and it is easy to see how one could run up a hefty bill if feeling particularly peckish. The menu is appetizing with a wide selection of fish, meat and stews, all with a distinctly Irish hue. I opt for the Scallops to start, which arrive perched on an oyster shell and drowned in an egg butter mousse. The scallops are cooked extremely well, but the mousse is a little too over-powering for my taste. Some of the party opts for the carrot salad, which arrives looking fresh and delicious in a copper pot. One of the flatbread options is also shared and looks very appetizing, although a strange choice for traditional starter. The main course is extremely well received across the board and my Turbot special is a particular triumph. The fish is grilled very well and delivered resting on a tasty pea, broad bean and chervil cream. Sides of chips and green veg are nice, but unnecessary given the portion size and I am left lamenting the fact that our Ryan Gosling-alike waiter did not forewarn us that we had over-ordered. A lot of food is returned untouched. The chateaubriand is incredibly tender and perhaps one could make a case for it’s eye-watering price tag. With little room for desert at the table, the strawberry pavlova, banoffi and apple pie are shared amongst the group and all look enticing and individual. I have had an elegant sufficiency at this stage and am content with a peppermint tea to aid the digestion. With the crowds dissipating and the open plan kitchen staff starting to relax, our waiter arrived with the rather hefty bill. At nearly € 80 per head, the restaurant at FSS is not for everyone but the food is well prepared and very fresh. Fair to say our group left satisfied and well fed, albeit a touch lighter in the pockets.

I had three-course dinner with a group of colleagues. Fish, open ravioli with mushrooms and a banana dessert. Everything was exquisite. Portions size were good. A bit pricey but it was all worth it.

Been in this place twice, first in their bar upstairs were they serve a great selection of cocktails and craft beers, then the second time I had dinner. Their Floured Crispy Chiffon Squid was one of the best tapas that I ever had. It’s hard to get a seat without a reservation, book in advance!

Arrive early. Head up to the rooftop bar and have glass of wine and a lite bite. Then enjoy yourself a fine dinner in a buzzin atmosphere. Our meal was fabulous and ‘good value’ as they say here. Definitely try the mushroom ravioli and the blackened cauliflower … wow Wow WOW! Ordered the Salmon with the crab sauce but not as impressive as the sides. But, service was good and the experience was great. Will definitely return!

Waooohhh that’s serious! This place is a match between a nice atmosphere, perfect decoration, professional service and obviously great food. We took a piece of Chateaubriand to share(cutof beef refined for 40 days). This was absolutely delicious and perfectly cooked. They even cooked it differently because my girlfriend like it rare(medium for me). Vegetable were excellent as well. The waiter helped us to chose the best dish and vegetables with it. He was as well very useful for the wine(a portuguese for the Duoro valley… The wine not the waiter!!!) ;-) Highly recommended for a dinner with friends or just with your lover. It is better to book because it was full on a Thursday evening. Go and enjoy your meat :-)

We chose to eat here last minute on a Bank Holiday Sunday last week. We didn’t have a reservation but had no issue getting a table at 2145. Restaurant was busy, as you would expect for the night that was in it. We were seated right inside the door but there is a glass barrier so very little draft and you don’t feel like you are seated beside the main entrance. We ordered two starters between our group of four much to the waiters surprise — is this not something that happens in Dublin? The pork belly and scallops were equally delicious and decent sized portions(particularly the pork belly). For the mains our group had the smoked and braised lamb, rabbit, beef and what turned out to be a beef flat bread. I wasn’t aware that it was a flat bread from reading the menu description but I could have missed it also. I was kind of disappointed because I really wanted meat as opposed to lots of bread but it was good nonetheless — not spectacular but good. It’s massive as a warning, and loaded with rocket. We had one bottle of Cotes de Rhone which was great and a Peroni and skipped dessert as we were going out afterwards and it was getting late. Service was fine, efficient. The hostess asked us at one point was everything ok and had already walked off before we had a chance to answer her: purely a tick the box exercise which I find really annoying. Please don’t bother if you don’t care what our answer will be. This is not a cheap spot, nor should it be given the calibre of the chef at the helm but top quality service is equally as important as great food in my book. They come together to make an experience rather than a meal. This is a good restaurant — it didn’t blow my mind but it will always be busy regardless of my thoughts due to its reputation and name. More than likely won’t be back to be honest.

Had dinner here last Saturday night. It was absolutely heaving, nice buzz in the place. Starter of pork belly was delicious. Main of the lamb flatbread(it’s not a pizza) was quite good too if a little overdone on the edges. Service was friendly and efficient. Like to try it when it’s not so manic.

Middle of the average table of average medium. Yep. Everything about the place was average except for two standouts. The staff. Excellent, knowledgeable and quick. The price, ugh. Worth a try, not a return visit.

Had this booked for Christmas lunch with friends. Great busy buzz and friendly staff. Place is fab and you instantly feel a good vibe . Now it goes down hill . Lunch menu very limited and no prices on menu . Starters, pork belly, was best part of the meal really liked it . Mains was very rich and over salty. I felt everything was salted to much and rich, the sprouts, cauliflower and mash where over rich, bring them back to basic veg ! Desert very disappointing choc far to rich and disappointing ! Service excellent but over priced for what you get . Are you paying for the name? You decide.

It was ok… yes unfortunately that’s all I really felt about our meals in Fade Street Social. This was my second visit to the restaurant part and I remembered it being better. I had brought my friends along as they had never been and I wished we had gone someplace else. The menu is pretty limited(pizzas, stew or a cut of meat) and they struggled to get excited about what was being offered. Most of the main dishes come out in bowls that wouldn’t be out of place in an indian restaurant. They held just a lump of meat and all pretty much looked the same. The restaurant is not cheap and for the hype about this place I expect to be wowed visually or it should at least look like something I could not cook myself at home(the veg side is an exception and was beautiful). Ok it tasted good, but like a lot of people I want my food to look the part and I eat with my eyes. The waiters were super friendly but forgot to bring any drinks till after our starters were finished. So we were left without alcohol for half of our meal. The staff obviously thought they did a good job though as they added a € 40 tip to the bill. I had the pizzas last time I was here and they were great, cocktails are amazing too but I think next time I will be trying the tapas bar.
