Such expensive and impressive produce. We grabbed lunch pastries and coffee there. It is not elegant dining but it is real good fresh food. The bakeshop is particularly impressive. A main with two sides of salad were around 9 euros and I only got salad (enough for lunch) and it was 5 euros.

Gorgeous speciality/​high end supermarket right in the city centre. Also has a restaurant/​function room upstairs & wine cellar downstairs.
This is where you go to get all of your lovely bits and pieces, probably not the best place to do your full weekly shop! They have a fantastic cheese counter with knowledgeable staff who can make recommendations based on what you like. The fruit & veg section is excellent and has lots of rare things you will struggle to find elsewhere (smoked garlic, medjool dates, graffiti aubergines?). The majority of products they stock are very high quality.
It has a café/​deli in the corner with a small area for seating at ground level.

Such a fantastic place to come for a coffee and grab seat whiñe people to their food shop around you. At the heart of Dublin city they have everything hear a fantastic coffee and lunch section. They also have a great vegetable selection, buthchers, fish monger and loads more

The wine cellar is pretty great if you’re looking to have semi-​fancy food in a relaxed setting :) They change the food menu every few months and the current version has a delicious steak sandwich on it which I recommend. I’m not giving them 5 stars because I’ve had a couple of bad dishes in here too and the service can be a bit slow but considering I’ve been coming here for years, they’re pretty good stats.

Although there are some stores that are tad bit like Fallon & Byrne, unfortunately they still don’t come close enough the qualities I’ve seen here. First we took a coffee and hot choc in the coffee corner. There are quite some tables there and the selection of cake, cookies etc is pretty good. The part that I liked the most was the restaurant downstairs. We went there two times in the evening and really had a nice time enjoying wine, cheese platters and salad. It was always crowded there. Staff was super busy and still paid proper attention to the customers. Even though we had to pick on of the least popular spots behind a pillar (the others were all taken) they visited our table quite quickly. Many thanks F&B, see you next time.

We had booked to eat at the restaurant upstairs but needed lunch to be quick so they suggested we go downstairs to their wine cellar. My husband went for the steak sandwich, while I had the goat’s cheese, beetroot & rocket salad. The rest of the fam had a mushroom burger & another cod & mash. But what made the meal was the desserts! Cheesecake was creamy and perfect balance of tart & sweetness. The chocolate brownie & cookies were pretty perfect too. While I wish we had the time to eat at their restaurant the wine cellar was perfect for us. We’ll be back to try the restaurant next time.

Fanciest supermarket in town. This ain’t no Tesco or Supervalue no siree. This is the place you go to when you want the best ingredients for cooking that fancy dinner to impress whoever it is people want to impress these days.
They have a massive butcher counter with pretty much every kind of meat you can think of; from venison to rabbit. They even stock whole quails. They also boast an impressive cheese counter which always has a queue wrapped around the entire store.
This is also the only shop that stocks fresh whole jalapenos in Dublin (well as far as I know of anyway). They have lots of other kinds of chilies and other exotic vegetables.
The only drawback for this place is the price. I suppose you do have to pay if you want quality, but I kind of feel like this place is a little more expensive than it needs to be for a lot of their stock. That being said, their meat is well priced and so are the jalepenos, which are usually what I go here to get.

When I used to live in Dublin this was my treat supermarket! But even now when visiting I will pop in for a coffee at the coffee bar downstairs or something from the deli… They have a great selection of fresh ingredients and also some exotics from all over the country and further afield. The restaurant upstairs is often overlooked by the Dublin glitterati but for a lunch it’s great, French cooking, fine service and an excellent meal… Worth the visit if like me you enjoy browsing supermarkets as well as museums!

Notable for outstanding service. This is a crowded market style eatery. The food was also excellent. If you like to bump into people and sit close to those you don’t know, this is a place for you (I am good with it but I am weird). If you want quiet comfy seats, keep walking.

The wine bar downstairs is one of my favourite nighttime spots for catching up with a friend. There’s an extensive wine list, with varying price points. The staff are well turned out and attentive, even though this place gets very busy from Thursday to Saturday night. All the wee nibbles on the menu are delicious — the potato wedges with basil aioli are substantial and hard for me to resist if I’m enjoying a couple of glasses of wines. I associate many good memories with this place — celebrating a new job, getting over an old love, catching up with old and new friends! Its a treat I’d never deny myself, though its probably becoming more of a habit than a treat!

I love everything about this place, the fresh fruit and veg in the food hall, the enthusiastic and friendly butchers and cheesemongers. The wine cellar in the basement is one of my favourite places in Dublin to share a nice bottle of wine with good friends. And the restaurant upstairs never disappoints!

Since Fallon & Byrne first opened their Exchequer Street grocery store/​deli/​wine bar/​restaurant a decade ago, it’s been my first port of call — and number one Dublin recommendation — for anything foodie related that’s just a little bit out of the ordinary (stripey tomatoes, agave nectar, hen’s teeth… you get the picture.)
It’s a gorgeous spot, but while I’ve often eaten in the deli or wine cellar, I had the impression that the first-​floor restaurant was on the spendy side. I was delighted to be proved wrong when they invited me in to try out their new lunch menu: under the auspices of a new head chef, the menu ranges from € 7.50 for light bites to € 12.95 for a platter or € 20/​€ 25 for a two/​three course set menu.
From this latter, I picked an incredibly tasty roasted pear salad to start. Beautifully presented, the pear was stuffed with creamy cashel blue cheese and crunchy pistachio (I waived the bacon because of this fella here.) My dining companion, The Brunette, had the soup — I can’t recall from which vegetables it was made, but like everything on the menu, it was seasonal, and pronounced spectacularly tasty. There were chestnuts! I just remembered that part; she especially liked the chestnuts.
On to the mains, and I was immediately drawn to one of the pasta dishes, spaghetti genovese: with pesto, garlic, new potatoes, artichoke and pine nuts, this was an incredibly flavoursome dish and rivalled any I’ve eaten in Italy. The potatoes really lend it that added authenticity (I totally stole that line from our handsome French waiter.)
Oh, and before I go on, a special word of tribute for the people. Not only was our waiter handsome and French (those two points bear repeating), but he was friendly and knowledgeable about the menu, as was everyone who served us. The maître d’, Stephen, deserves special mention for his kindness. I called that morning about Missy, my new (to me) chihuahua, who’d been having a bit of separation anxiety (she’s much better now), and he honestly could not have been nicer. She was allowed to come along in her little carrier, and was made quite the fuss of by the staff.
By the end of our meal we were feeling lovely and relaxed in the light-​filled, art deco inspired room — so while we waived dessert, we ordered up a round of Irish Coffee Martinis (Missy was on the dry), to send us on our way. These were delicious, with a warm whiskey kick, and perfectly rounded off a very pleasant afternoon.

GROCERY STORE
I wouldnt really do my shopping here at all. Fallon and Byrne is an upmarket grocery store. Offering deluxe and gourmet produce that you could probably get in Dunnes across the road but all of their products are organic or imported, I presume that’s why everything above average price. They also have cereals from the U. S and things like fluff.
DOWNSTAIRS RESTAURANT
5 stars for the wine selection. I believe on a Monday you can buy wine off the shelf at RRP but drink it with your food or on its own while seated.
I had lots of little nibbles here with friends. The wine and food was really nice.
DELI COUNTER
they have a great selection of stuff for lunch. You’d want to make sure you get there fairly early as they could run out of something delicious later afternoon

I’ve only tried the deli in Fallon & Byrne but they make a mean sandwich! Really good quality ingredients. Think bubbling cheese and crispy parma? The stuff sandwich dreams are made of. The seating area is just inside on the ground floor, it looks like it’d be a good place to sit with your laptop and work/​procrastinate away.
The shop section is a good place to come across unusual items but errs on the pricey side.

The wine cellar at Fallon & Byrne is worth a visit with a small group. The space is open and comfortable yet it still has that ‘cellar’ ambiance. Ordered a nice wine from California which immediately had me beaming — only 9 euro and a very good poor to top it off!
I also read that on Monday’s one can purchase a bottle of wine at F&B and there is only a 1 euro corkage fee … nice!

This is a high end store which has the finest of the finest foods available… As such it’s not my go-​to grocer however when I’m after something a little more special or want to bring something to a dinner party or make up a hamper of treats for an occasion, this is my go to place. Amazing selection of foods and they have a deli counter in here so for something healthy and scrumptious on the go, this place is a gem! They also have great options in the deli to bring home, like quiches, pies which just need some heat through them and bam, you got a great tasting meal i the comfort of your own home without all the prep!
They also do seasonal stuff really well, so whether it’s christmas or halloween they will have just the right ingredients to make your meal all the more seasonal and festive.

I absolutely love the range of fruit and vegetables, super fresh and ridiculously well presented.
We all know that Fallon & Byrne aren’t cheap but in saying that, they’re not over the top in their prices, it’s affordable, especially because they stock items that we otherwise couldn’t get our grubby little mitts on.

I love browsing around Fallon & Byrne’s market area, but it’s hard to walk out empty-​handed. Everything they carry is consistently high quality, though perhaps a tad pricey. If you’re looking for any specialty items/​imported ingredients and can’t find them in your local Tesco, try this place. I’ve come here for everything from trying to find good marzipan for a whisky pairing to Angostura bitters.
When I have a craving for oysters, I often go to the fish counter here because they’re open late enough for me to drop by after work (when most other fish shops would be closed). They also have a great selection of meats & cheeses… if you have dinner guests you need to impress, splurge for the jamon iberico bellota. This acorn-​fed cured ham will just melt in your mouth. Of course, your charcuterie board wouldn’t be complete without a fresh crusty bread. Don’t worry — the bread selection immediately on your left as you enter the store is amazing as well.

Expensive? Yes. But it’s not like it’s posing to be anything else, either. You know what you’re getting yourself in to. I love this place, definitely not for the weekly essential groceries but for those more difficult to find specialty items. Following recipes from home can be difficult, I might get most of the ingredients from Tesco or Dunnes, but I can pretty much find the rest of the more rare items here. Lots of American goods that are hard to find anywhere else, my favorite being the baking section: butterscotch chips, peanut butter chips, Aunt Jemima syrup, crisco, all those terrible but delicious things you miss. Lots of import and gourmet type items (found my favorite Relish!) but also a great selection of produce that is a little more diverse than the big chain shops, there are probably almost a dozen different kinds of mushrooms here for example. Great selection of tea and chocolates (lots of organic and fair trade products) good selection of wines and specialty condiments. We even picked up some pre-​made burgers (four different meat options to choose from) which were delicious, so was their chorizo sausages, great for the grill. Haven’t tried anything from their café but everything looked great. Staff is friendly and helpful.
When you want to splurge on nicer ingredients, or indulge in some comforts from home, this is the shop to visit. It is easy to go over board because it’s somewhat expensive but again, you should be expecting it.

A real foodie paradise ! When you walk in the door of Fallon and Byrne and you are greeted with a cornucopia of amazing looking fruit and vegetables presented in the most lovely way. You also know straight away this place isn’t going to be cheap — and it’s not — but equally it isn’t extortionate and they have a really good range of products to fit most budgets and some great lunch deals which they put on Facebook and Twitter each day. Now obviously it’s not somewhere I’d be doing my weekly shop — but maybe someday !
I would be here all day if I told you all of the amazing things they have on offer but the general lay of the land is this — a wine bar in the basement /​café /​deli /​food hall on the ground floor and restaurant upstairs. They even cater for weddings in the venue on the upper floors.
The deli has amazing meat /​fish and cheese counters and the staff are really knowledgeable. They have all sorts of food stuffs from all over the world and a great selection of American goodies. The wine bar has an amazing range of over 400 wines that you can buy to take away — if you want to drink one there they add on € 10 corkage except on «Happy Mondays» when it is only € 1. They have a lovely menu in the wine bar and you can also bring anything from the deli above downstairs if you like.
Finally the staff are amazing — really friendly and knowledgeable. I have heard they spend a lot of time training and sending the staff off to learn about the wine and food and this really comes across in their enthusiasm.

Came here for the restaurant and WOW, this place is amazing in all areas of its crowd, the food, and the prices!
You can tell how fresh the ingredients are in the food right away and you can also purchase all things on the menu in the shop upstairs. Ordered a red wine and had the tapas cheese and salami plate which was meant for two, but the waiter cut the order in half and it was pretty much the exact same portions as the regular for-​sharing menu but on a smaller plate. Regardless, the ingredients and materials were amazing. It came with an ample load of bread, some jam, two cheese, and 3 types of meat (one prosciutto) and the tastiest grapes ever. The combo of these finely selected items? Mouthwatering and irresistible and i enjoyed every bite with no regrets. You MUST MUST MUST MUST come get this plate and some wine if you are a wine and tapas fanatic like me! b

Easy to miss as a lunch location. Drop in here for lunch in the ground floor lunch area. Toasted sandwiches and wraps are fresh and tasty. Staff are friendy. We were here twice, once in December and once in April and got consistent good service. Well worth going a little earlier at about 1130 if you are a tourist and are flexible. Nettes Frühstücksangebot. War nie oben. Angaben zu wieviel Zeit man am Tisch hat, sind nicht ungewöhnlich in Dublin. Hatten wir auch bei Saba.

Fallon & Byrne ist nicht nur ein Lebensmittelgeschäft. Im Obergeschoss befindet sich eines der besten Restaurants Dublins. Alles ist aus organischen Zutaten zubereitet, der Service ist schnell, aber nicht besonders freundlich. Man wird durchaus einmal darauf hingewiesen, dass man maximal zwei Stunden zum Essen hat.
Im Untergeschoss gibt es noch eine sehr schöné Weinbar. Man sitzt auf Barhockern an runden Tischen mitten in einem Weinkeller. Sehr schöné Atmosphäre, tolle Weine, super Service, allerdings etwas langsam.

The wine cellar, which is downstairs, is a nice place to venture for lunch. The deli part is very nice to browse and if I lived here, I would certainly splurge and buy some of my groceries amid all the packed isles of local and fresh food. I ordered the Asian salad, which was 12.50 euros. It was very tasty, but not huge. I think Dublin in general is a bit pricier than what I am used to when eating out, but it was a nice treat and I imagine would be even better with wine and a book!
