It is probably not a good thing that Fiji is right across the road from work. Since it opened I’d say I’d have spent the equivalent of a good holiday to the States or somewhere equally exotic with the money I’ve spent on an almost daily basis buying the ridiculously good coffee and macha, oat and coconut slices. Barry and his exclusively Brazilian crew are hard at work making the best coffee in Dublin from 7am each morning(although I’m not sure about the weekends). It’s not just about the Cork-made Badger & Dodo Blackwater blend coffee bean that they use, but also the organic milk(I was surprised too but this is actually a significant differentiator). The resultant lattes are rich and creamy with a lovely vanilla note. There’s(usually) no bitterness from the roasting, it literally is an incredible coffee. They also have a great range of mochas using real and delicious drinking chocolate, not syrup as with other places — I had to wean myself off the white chocolate mocha, it was just too good. The selection of gourmet handmade and Valrhona chocolate is top-class, while the handmade carrot-cake, macha coconut slices and macha oat cookies are a luxurious treat. There is something amazing about this little coffee bar that makes me want Barry to share it with the rest of the city — I feel guilty that only the people working/living in this corner of the city get to enjoy it. I’ve taken diversions off the N11 just to get my fix at the weekends — it’s that good! Only thing is, avoid the place just before 9am — I couldn’t bare the queue getting longer on account of this post. Don’t get between me and my caffeine-hit. Enjoy.

I’m not really into coffee, I have maybe 1 a week. If I worked or lived close to this coffee shop, I’d have 2 – 3 a day! It’s literally the nicest coffee I’ve ever tasted. They use organic milk which I think is a real luxury & I love their cakes! I made myself late for a meeting yesterday because I couldn’t drive past the merrily centre without calling in. Staff are lovely too.

I love chocolate! That café is a hidden spot, not the best for sit in but to get the most incredible coffee for takeaway — dark chocolate mocha is my absolute favourite! I have also tried all three hot chocolates which are delicious. In addition to that you can buy all sorts of gifts there for chocolate, coffee and tea lovers. Great place to try :)

It was only when I paid proper attention to the sign that I realised this was a coffee place too(I guess the coffee bean on the sign and the tables beside the shop should have been a fairly big hint)… my eyes were only ever drawn to the vast selection of chocolate and sweet things. Today’s mission was an important one… chockies to go with wifeys birthday present. I was steered towards ‘handmade chocolates for girls’. an impressive looking box with a suitable price tag… still, they were good and appreciated(so worth it at any cost!). The place is well worth a visit!
