Geisha

Trying to avoid the overpriced set Valentine’s menus that are offered in most places, we decided to eat at Geisha’s in Ashtown. A Pan Asian restaurant with live music on weekends and an extensive menu covering everything from Teriyake dishes, sushi, curries and thai stir fries.
We had the Choo-​Chee duck (spicy in a red curry sauce) and the beef teriyaki. The flavours were really nice, only my beef wasn’t the best quality beef.
Although absolutely packed, the service was very good. All staff was super friendly and attentive and I would most certainly eat here again.

Last year I cycled until Castelnock and I arrived to the restaurant location. I admired the area but I didn’t eat there. Few months later we bought a voucher for eating at their restaurant. I love Asian food so I didn’t have to think twice. the deal was also very good: 3 main courses for 14.95 € each. Last Sunday we decide to book a table for lunch and to use the voucher. We arrived at the last location in time, but we couldn’t park there. There are only few spots available, but we could park inside the car park nearby. It isn’t too far from the restaurant and pratical. In this way we could enjoy our lunch and stay at Geisha restaurant. For the restaurant you have to do few steps, as it is locate at upper level. You are revived by the stuff who accomodate to your table. We called and booked for lunch, so I don’t if you go there and you didn’t book it might be OK. I suppose if there aren’t many people you should be fine. The restaurant is divide in 3 area, the table near the balcony (beautiful view and location) the table in the middle of the room and the table located on the other side near by the entrance which seems more private. they have also a private room and the bar. Our table was neat the balcony and it was perfect. It was sunny and the view of canal was just WoW. We order from set menu a starter, a generous main course and a yummy dessert. The drink weren’t included, and because we didn’t have I can give you any information. I updated some photo of what I had: everything was delicious. The dessert was amazing. The stuff is very nice and they fill your glasses when are empty (when you are drinking water). I will definitely come back as my first time was just perfect. I love the restaurant and their food!

I came here for a friend’s party and we had the restaurant booked for ourselves that day. The interior and the set up was beautiful and they arranged all the tables nicely for the party. There’s also a nice balcony you can go out on. Each guest paid 50 euro for a starter, shared appetiser, main, champagne and a shot of vodka each.
Food: I didn’t particularly like the food that much as spicy stir fries and curries are not my thing, but it wasn’t too bad. The rice portions were really small of about only 2 scoops each on our plates, but we had a choice between boiled white or egg fried. Some people ordered dessert separately which looked really good too. The service was pretty good, they kept refilling out water and it was all very efficient. However, we were rushed out a half an hour ahead of time from the booking which wasn’t too great. Overall, great place for a party or special occasion, clean and nicely decorated with efficient service on that day. I’d have to come on a normal day to experience the full menu though.

Usually get take away from Geisha — although I had a sneak peak of their inside which looks gorgeous!
Had their California Roll and Fried rice noodles — really excellent and definitely coming back for a sit down meal next time.
What to do to get the 5^th star? Add chopsticks in the take away bag ;)

Lovely presentation and probably some of the better Asian food in Dublin/​Ireland. I do come from an area of the world which happens to have really good Asian (from Thai to Indian to sushi) food, so my standards for this food type may be a bit different. Great service, funky décor, and somewhat different food for Dublin all make it worth a visit.

Very pleasant, I had the Sam-​Rod Duck and it was very nice. The service was excellent and overall it was great and I will definitely be back. However, It was a little on the expensive side though.

The location is good, right in the heart of the newish Ashtown plaza shopping area. It’s a stones throw from the train station with lovely canal walks.
Inside is white, everything from the tables and chairs to the walls. This is interspersed with flashes of red and orange and other Japanese colours. It’s quite calming actually.
I was somewhat disappointed by the Japanse portion of the menu. The sushi options seem like they are there for the sake of it and the Tepanyaki? Well it’s on the menu but there is no Tepanyaki/​hibachi grill which completely defeats the purpose.
This is very disappointing from a restaurant that may be Asian in general, but under a Japanese guise.
My wife opted for this option and went with the steak. She was not asked how she wanted it and it arrived very over cooked and dry.
I went with Choo Chee duck and it was very tasty but I fail to see the difference between that and a red curry. I know there should be a only a slight difference but I found none. Still, I enjoyed saying Choo Chee so maybe it was worth it. I have no complaints about the quality of my dinner.
The problem comes when you look at the cost. € 18 for the choo chee duck which does not include rice so the cost of a very basic main course is € 20, about the same as the Tepanyaki.
For starter, we shared the sharing platter for 2. You don’t get very much food for your € 15 but it was nicely presented and tasted good.
The beer selection is poor to non existent with only Singha (Chinese) beer on the menu, though I did see people with pints that looked like they were coming from the bar below. They may have a deal but if so, it’s not in the menu nor were we told about it when I asked what beer is available (never trust restaurant beer menus, they lie).
So my overall impression was, food is good but nothing special. The experience is pleasant and I had a good time. I would not bother going again unless specifically meeting friends there, by that I mean, it’s not worth the trip if you don’t live in the Ashtown area.

Being a local, I’ve been here quite a few times and I’m always happy.
The service is what really wins me over every time. It is always excellent. I am also a fan of the interior. It’s very different. There’s a little spot to the right in the door I usually try go for underneath an interesting ceiling. I’ve been here with my now fiancé for many a romantic night.
The food is great, I’ve always been happy with what’s been served up to me. I’m a creature of habit and I usually go for the soup which is always piping hot and plentiful. I usually go for a noodle dish and I always end up taking it home with me.
Personally I think it’s a little expensive, but the service is excellent, nothing it too much hassle and the atmosphere is amazing.

Staff are very nice… Place is fabulous…
We has sushi to start… Crab rolls & duck rolls… Both lovely but duck rolls are the nicer of the two…
For main we had Japanese grill… Chicken comes with three breast pieces, beef with two pieces equally quite large… Also you get soup, veg, rice & sauce… Delicious…
Too full for dessert but dessert menu looked mouth watering…
Geisha is very well priced, staff are friendly, very efficient… Our glasses were always full… Definitely will be back…
