Pros: — Great location, right by the grand canal docks. — The pancakes are divine; I customized mine with sausage, Canadian maple syrup, and a bowl of fruit. — Ideal brunch spot after a night out. — Their cappuccino is pretty solid as well. — Owner and servers are all really friendly Cons: — Hard to get a good spot on the weekend — Pricey but the quality is good

Heard a lot about this place and the food definitely didn’t disappoint. Not 5 stars because the wait here is crazy and the host wasn’t very nice while we waited: for starters, he suggested we go next door for coffee or take my friend’s baby to the playground down the road while we waited which we clearly didn’t want to do, and he kept suggesting these things. Secondly, we were a group of 6, but two were running a bit late. The host refused to seat us until the whole party arrived, though ultimately we all say at two tables anyway so what difference does it make? With that out of the way, let’s get to the crux of things. The food here is great. I ordered the toast with wild mushrooms and salad. It was absolutely delicious. My friends ordered eggs with salmon, the pancake stack and some form of focaccia, everyone was happy with their food and devoured it very quickly. The downside is the food took a while to come out, and that’s after a half hour wait to be seated so we were starving. Personally, I was a bit disappointed with the fact they don’t serve chai latte, it’s become very common in Dublin and a place as popular and highly regarded as herbstreet, I’d expect to serve it, but they only serve regular chai tea bags, which is not the same. My friends and I then went for«dessert» and shared the French toast with banana and pecans between us, and that was to die for. Bottom line: the food here was amazing, and for all we ordered it wasn’t that pricy. The service was not amazing and food arrival quite slow, so. You win some, you lose some.

Had a very tasty brunch here. The sweet potato wedges were the best I’ve ever had and I also loved the avocado salsa that came with them. Pancakes were okay. I thought it was a bit mean on their part to charge extra for maple syrup. The banana French toast with pecans was delicious but oh so rich and indulgent. I loved it but it might be too sweet for the average Joe soap. I do think € 12 is very expensive for this. Coffee wise, I’m not a fan of lavazza. This could be my own personal preference. Staff were very friendly.

This is one of my favourite places to visit. Located next to Grand Canal Square and the Bord Gais Theatre. Was here yesterday after nearly 6 month absence and was not disappointed. It is in very high demand, so have a reservation or show up early when they open, if you want to avoid waiting in the queue! It is spotlessly clean, has a great atmosphere and the food is AMAZING and very good value. The chicken wings rival the famous Elephant and Castle wings, the burgers are perfect and any specials I’ve tried have always hit the spot. The menu covers the aforementioned burgers(with choice of 2 toppings), chicken wings and a range of interesting salads and sandwiches. The combo platter is perfect for when you can’t decide what to have — it’s a bit of everything — soup, bread, a ham terrine and a slice of quiche. There’s also plenty of healthy options for when you’re being ‘good’, like the super salad or Tuscan style baked hake. For dessert I’d recommend the Herbstreet Iceberger bar, a wrapped Ice cream sandwich made with flourless chocolate cake. And to drink? Pineapple & Ginger Pimms, cool ginger beer, fresh pineapple, cucumber and mint over ice. Great spot! well worth checking out! :)

Herb Street is a very nice café with great food and great service. We stumbled upon it after seeing the reviews on here and they did not disappoint. I had the French toast which was excellent and would recommend to anyone. My boyfriend had the pancakes, eggs, and sausage which were all very good. We will be returning to have breakfast here again. Cheers!

Fantastic food! Try the sweet potatoes and dip! Great place for breakfast and the best latte I have had in town so far!

–1 star because of the crazy wait if you dont wake up early enough on the weekend??? Other than that, it was the first place I had an Irish breakfast when first arrived to Dublin and it holds a special place in my memory because it was simply amazing. Although I think the eggs benedict are even better, the best in town no doubt. The coffee is also very good and I am a fool for cute barista designs… Also I love the place with its minimalist set up, the huge sliding windows and the outside sitting.

Good place for a lazy Sunday brunch. The one and only thing that I really don’t like it’s the queuing. You cannot pre book the table, you can either wait(usually around 15min) or you can leave your phone number and go for a coffee while waiting for a call. In other worlds, if you are patient and you are not starving at that time you gonna like it. Veggie and turkey burgers are both nice, I like their sauces and chips. Also, the brioche with wild mushroom it’s my boyfriend favourite. Deserts are different each time, I never been there for a dinner but I can imagine is similar. Overall, I would recommend the place.

Best Eggs benedict in the world! :)) Homemade English muffin topped with a light cheesy sauce, home-baked ham, 2 free range poached eggs & creamy hollandaise, slow roast plum tomato on the side. mmmm If you have a sweet tooth you can order their Thick-cut, fluffy French toast topped with rum buttered bananas, Cornish clotted cream and pecan nuts yummyyyy ot Tall stacks pancakes with Canadian maple syrup… Plus you can eat outside when it is sunny. Beautiful place to eat and relax. Ce restaurant sert un brunch de qualité …Allez vous régaler ! :)

Herbstreet is probably my favorite place for brunch in Dublin just because they make the best eggs benedict in town(and I made it my mission to try them all.). My friends also had their pancakes and french toast and said they were very tasty and were not able to finish it. If you go on Saturdays or Sundays, expect to wait at least 30min if you come at peak time but the waiter will get your name and phone number to call you when your table is ready(so you can go for a walk on Grand Canal Dock while you wait) The inside is nice, woody and cozy and if you’re lucky enough with the weather, you can also eat outside! The service is great, not too pushy considering people are always waiting for a table. To conclude, I would definitely recommend herbstreet and it is my go-to place when I have friends visiting.

I’ve been wanting to try this place for a while and finally got my chance when I met a friend for lunch last week. I must say, I had a bit higher expectations based on other reviews(and let’s be honest, the higher prices) but it was still pretty decent. I ordered the turkey burger with sweet potato chips. The burger was okay but lacked any kind of wow factor that would make you come running back. They also tried making their own ketchup which was a nice idea I guess, but why bother? Pretty sure Heinz has it down. The service was very efficient and I had a nice experience but for a € 15 lunch I’d prefer a little more flavour.

I went to eat lunch at Herbstreet on a blustery, ‘winter-is-coming’ Wednesday to celebrate a friends birthday. Despite working just around the corner for the past year, this would be my first visit. I’d heard good things about their weekend brunch offering but their weekly lunch menu was a bit of a mystery. I wasn’t sure what to expect. It was busy with the office crowd as expected. We had booked the day before for our party of 4, and I’d recommend booking if visiting at peak mid-week lunch/weekend-brunch times. We were greeted with smiles and led to a table at the back immediately upon arriving. The décor has mismatch, trendy diner feels, with good natural lighting coming in from the floor-to-ceiling windows. We were provided with a large glass bottle of water upon sitting down and this was topped up, without request, throughout our stay. The staff were pleasant and helpful, advising on the daily specials. It’s still only midweek and so I can’t quite justify a weekend diet splurge just yet so I decide to go for the healthy choice of a superfoods salad with poached chicken. Good call. This is delicious! Even my not-so-fav goji berries add a lovely sweet bite to the chicken and avocado combo. There’s a good chunk of chicken served with the salad. which is great. Nothing worse than ordering a chicken salad and then given a bowl of leaves & you have to go searching for your sprinkling of chicken. My friends opted for the grilled halloumi couscous salad and pasta with scallops(both dishes € 15 each). Both looked delicious and I had a bite of the halloumi and can vouch for it’s cheesey deliciousness. Final thoughts… this a great spot; while on the pricier side, I was impressed enough with what I ate/saw so I will be frequenting this more often for special occasion lunches. Top of the list will be weekend brunch. I look forward to it.

I’m still in food coma while I write this. An amazing lunch! This must have been one of the best bouillabaisses I ever tried. It was so full of fish, that I struggled to finish. It was overflowing with mussels, loads of calamari and at least 6 or 7 big prawns. And some grilled fish on top of it al. They sure don’t skimp on the fish here. It also had some yummie garlic toast on the side. HEAVEN! We shared three desserts between us all.(See picture, they did taste as good as they look!) I sure could do with an after food nap now!

This place is the boooooomb. Had a very hungover brunch here on a miserable rainy Sunday and it hit the nail on the head. I got the Mexican egg thing. It was soooo delicious. I also tasted the French toast which was melt in the mouth good and bad a taste of the pancakes. The menu is varied with a really good choice. Really good atmosphere and service was on point considering it was an extremely busy Sunday afternoon. Definitely be back. Only disappointment was the chicken wings are average at best. Still tasty but that’s why it didn’t get the 5stars from me. Everything else though, amazing!

Herbstreet never disappoints, it is just really hard to get a seat as usually the queue us out the door! I wish they’d take reservations. The food is great and always fresh(a bit more variety wouldn’t hurt perhaps). You have to bring time as they tend to be busy but service is friendly. I’ve had the eggs florentine(very good, even if my breakfast buddy didn’t like the egg/bread ratio) and at other times quiche or the veggie burger, everything I tried was good. Don’t go for the wine(or ask for a recommendation maybe), that was the one low point of a recent visit! Otherwise really good and I will be back… if I can get a seat in this super popular spot, that is!

After having lived in Dublin for around a year and listening to countless number of people telling me how getting a seat here over the weekends is a real struggle, I finally mustered up the courage and showed up at the restaurant with a friend. We had to wait for about 10 — 15 minutes and were given a table outside the restaurant which I really appreciate given that it was on one of those rare days with sunshine on the emerald isle. I ordered an Americano and a Veggie Burger and my friend got herself a Cappuccino and Belgian Waffles. The food was great(especially them Waffles!) and I have no complaints. The coffee was Lavazza and was so much better than I had anticipated. The service was above average — especially given how busy this restaurant gets. The only aspect about Herbstreet that I don’t like is that it gets pretty busy and it’s not the kind of place where you can while away hours of time after your brunch on a weekend, but the food is good enough to not deter me from visiting again.

Meh for brunch service. I tried to like this place, but a lot of things don’t add up. I feel it’s just the hip place to go during the weekend if you’re based around the Docks, and it really doesn’t convince me to return very often. Let me start with the positives. I love the dog bowl with water at the entrance, it’s just a nice gesture and the little doggies will need it because their owner will probably spend a reasonable amount of time in here. The brunch menu is extensive, both in food choice as for drinks, so you’re main problem will be deciding what you like better. I really like the brunch platter, perfect morning food! If the weather is nice, the seating outside, overlooking the canal, is exactly where you want to seat for a relaxing meal. If you have little ones with you, they’ll bring crayons and paper to the table to help keep them entertained :) Now the not so good stuff… While most of the food is tasty enough — I’ve only ever had one dish I thought was muck, but it’s since gone off the menu, so they probably realised it too — it’s still too expensive for what it is. It’s good food, but I would hesitate to say delicious. The fruit juices are served in a ridiculously small glass for instance, and they’ll charge you € 3 for that, it’s gobsmacking. You can’t make a reservation and there’s usually a big queue, even if you show up at 10am, when it’s opening. Ain’t nobody got time for that! Trust me, all in all, it’s not worth such a long wait. The attitude of some of the staff is pretty poor, a lot of the time they won’t even acknowledge you. Ok, maybe they can’t be with you right at that moment, but a little nod or smile never hurt anyone. And my pet peeve… the kiwi in the fruit salad is not peeled… I mean… It’s a fuzzy, hairy fruit. Hairs, tiny hairs, spread over the pineapple and berries… Why, God, what have I done to deserve this punishment? I value texture over aesthetics in my food, but maybe I’m weird that way.

I had the best time hear yesterday and for the most part because of the food(I also had lovely company). It’s the second time I’ve tried out a Herbstreet weekend brunch. I don’t remember much from the first time except for having to queue for a long time and not being particularly blown away by the food. This time I ordered French toast which was plain delicious. It had rum bananas and a sugary sauce with a dollop of vanilla cream on top. It was perfect, very eggy and delicious. I ordered bacon on the side even though the waitress warned me that the dish was a sweet one and might not go with bacon. I enjoyed it just fine! We had to sit outside if we wanted to avoid crazy queuing which we decided to do. It definitely was chilly but it was up to us. The manager asked us at the end if we enjoyed our food. He was skeptical when we said yes because both of us had a lot left on our plate; the portions are massive, I couldn’t finish half of mine even though I loved it. I didn’t think much of this place before because I just though it was a bit of a fad for people who didn’t know where to find better brunch in Dublin(i.e. Bibi’s) but now I am thinking that the kitchen here has high standards. I would like to try a few more things to judge that for sure but for now I’m very content with my brunch experience.

We had to wait 20mins to be seated but, we didn’t mind as we popped into Fresh food store and killed time. The front house person was very nice and pleasant to deal with. If a place is busy it must be good! Plenty to order on the brunch menu. I got the full breakfast, and my partner ordered pancakes and a sausage. Everything was really nice and tasty. The looked great and was served by nice friendly staff. We really liked the look of the place. It was a little loud but, with a full restaurant you can’t complain about that. We’ll be going back for sure.

Nice place to have a casual lunch, quite pricy place. Friendly staff and helpful when choosing a dish, I had the burger and it’s awesome. The quality is excellent and the presentation as well.

Upon arrival, on a Saturday afternoon around 1pm, we were asked if we wanted to sit outside straight away, or have brunch inside. As the wind was blowing a bit hard, we decided to go for the second option. We got served water straight away and then ordered coffee. They have a short but effective brunch menu, with everything you might want for, no more, no less: pancakes, full breakfasts, eggs Benedict and Florentine, waffles, and the likes. I went for an absolutely amazing toast with mushroom, which came with a little pesto dressing and a side of rocket and cherry tomatoes. It was really tasty! My friend had an egg Benedict, which I personally don’t like, but he said it was very good as well. We also shared a «side» of pancakes with bacon, which was very decent. I guess it’s me not liking the mix that much, but they were lovely eaten separately! Service was ok, quite friendly but nothing exciting, probably as they were very busy. We were too full form the delicious main to order any desserts, so did not even look at the list, but I am sure they would have been good as well. I think I would go there very often if, like my friend, I worked just two minutes from there. In conclusion, a definite ‘yes’ if you are looking for brunch in the docks area.
