A grand butchers, Hogans.
We got some excellent fillet steak in here recently. I mean really nice fillet steak. It was 15.60 EUR for two pieces. He didn’t want to sell me anymore than that, I reckon he was keeping some for his regular customers, which was nice of him I guess.
And in the past we’ve got stewing beef and round beef for various forays into cooking beef. All have been nice and relatively good value.
I don’t know why I don’t come here more often for meat, it’s better quality that what you get in Tesco. And nice conversation too.

The window advertises organic beef and lamb. I’m not sure about the other meat in there and — silly me — didn’t ask when I was in today (just too hungry to care) but the butcher is knowledgeable and not afraid to recommend the competition when he can’t help me out.
I came in a few weeks ago looking for chicken thighs and he directed me to another butcher across the street. One of his chickens fed a group of 6 last spring. And the single chicken breast he sold me today was very nice and tender. Oddly enough, I’ve never tried his non-​chicken meats, but that’s just chance. All in all, I have no complaints.
