So this place is just off Dawson Street and clearly v easy to miss as I don’t know how I’ve managed not to visit here before. Came here in December and it wasn’t overly busy. Had a couple of glasses of wine each and enjoyed the complimentary salted nuts. Really nice setting & the high chairs are actually rather comfortable. Will definitely be back! Might even try some food next time.

Food was OK, nothing special, and service was slow but the place was very busy at the time. We had a GrabOne voucher for three tapas, and two glasses of wine. They told us whatever extra we ordered would be added on to bill. When bill came they had only given us the three cheapest as part of the deal, two of which were half the price of the limit of € 10. It seemed very unfair as we would have ordered differently had they mentioned it or had it been one of the terms and conditions. Had we just ordered three dishes, we would have gotten better value. The manager was abrupt and not pleasant when we questioned our bill, he fobbed us off saying GrabOne was screwing him over and he only earned € 9 from the voucher. He refused to compromise in the end.

I love French Cuisine, so when a pal treated me to Tapas through Groupon a few weeks ago, and this is where we ended up I was thrilled. After selecting our vino which was tasty, we carefully selected a variety of tapas to including roasted figs, a cheese board and ratatouille and cauliflower cheese. The food was fantastic and I will definitely return. It has a Parisian feel almost like Meet and Meat of Wicklow st. The owner was very sweet, and very attentive. I think we even ordered a second glass of vino…

Hmmmm, French tapas, haven’t had that before, but very glad I tried it! I got a voucher(yeay for coupons!) for 3 dishes and 2 glasses of wine so had a post work midweek treat yesterday. We ordered the figs, cheese board and ratatouille with cauliflower cheese and chips on the side. Everything was excellent, but the figs a total highlight, baked and stuffed with goats cheese and served with a portion of salad drizzled with balsamic and pesto oil it shone even brighter that the other super tasty dishes. However be warned, those with larger appetites would be best served going for the larger plate options. The staff member serving us was lovely, despite being very busy, and the venue itself if somewhere between bistro and airport café, but somehow works just fine. It isn’t the easiest place to spot but worth seeking out!

This is a cute little wine bar just off of Dawson St. The interior décor is somewhere between urban French edge and trendy bistro. Although it is quite cozy they laid it out well so I wasn’t listening unintentionally to another tables convo. This is yet another place I wish I can award more than 3 but less than 4 stars to. I went in with a grabone voucher for 3 tapas and 2 glasses of wine. My date and I were starving so we knew from the get go 3 tapas would not satisfy our growling tummies. So we ordered the cheese board, charcuterie platter, calamari, large mussels and roasted figs with goats cheese. The cheese board was nice just not amazing. And I thought the servings of cheese were rather meager for the € 2 supplement we’ve had to pay. The charcuterie plate was also nice but there wasn’t anything special. I felt the quality was the same I would get from dunnes. Good just not anything special(chorizo, salami, prosciutto, etc). The roasted figs were my fave as the jammy fig roasted with goats cheese and wrapped in bacon was scrummy and would perfectly complement any choice glass of wine. Drool. The calamari was probably my least favorite. They weren’t overcooked but very bland and the batter kept falling off. The mussels were duly devoured. It comes with this broth that is seasoned with blue cheese. I know it sounds awful but it is good… I just like simpler broths. The service was prompt and polite… For the most part. The items we ordered were all over the board from seafood to cheese so after the glasses were swallowed(expect the ‘industry standard’ measures not the quarter bottle pours) so I asked the maître d who I’m assuming is a sommelier(since we are at a wine bar) what he would recommend to kind of go with everything. Tall order I know, but I wanted a drinkable red, perhaps a Pinot noir. At this point for our glass we got part of the deal I ordered a red and my partner the white. Instead of coming to us to discuss options he turns his head chuckles and quips«your drinking red and he has white. Someone’s going to have to compromise»… No sh**. But he never came back! We ended up ordering a bottle of Malbec to complement the cheese. Our bill came out to € 56… And yes that is with a voucher. Hefty price tag. We would’ve been upset had we had to pay the whole shebang. Saying this they have a great selection of wines in the € 30 range for us plebs. Although My experience was pleasant, I wouldn’t choose to go back due of the high prices you pay for meager tapa dishes.

La Ruelle is a French-inspired Wine/Tapas bar off Dawson Street — not really easy to find so it’s safe to call it one of Dublin’s hidden gems! I came here on a early Saturday night with a Groupon voucher and instantly became a fan of the mellow ambiente, low key piano music, and the candle-like atmosphere — it really sets the tone for a great night. The food on the menu covers Soups(e.g. French Onion Soup, 5.95 Eur), Tapas(Sauteed Tiger Prawns, 9 Eur; Pimentos del Pequillo, 7.50 Eur; Mini Tartiflette, 7 Eur), Salad(Landaise with Foie Gras, 15.50 Eur), Meat, Steak & Fish(Duck, Lamb, Chicken, Sirloin, Salmon, 15 – 19 Euro) and Deserts(5.50 Eur). Everything I tried was both well presented and great in taste. My favorite was the Meat&Cheese platter which had prosciutto, salami, and some Irish & French cheese on it. On top of it, service was perfect — gentle and knowledgeable. A real classic place and highly recommended! Make reservations.
