The chicken and chips and the donner kebap are very good. I wouldn’t buy the fish and chips again as that tasted like a large amount of grease. The prices are about right.

This is the kind of place you are ashamed you go to even once a year. It’s on the way back home from the club so that can be a reasonably good excuse. Everything they offer is greasy and low quality to be honest, but then you don’t need cheese and garlic mayo chips to be gourmet to avoid a hungover. The kebab is also acceptable. Sizes are generous but price is still a bit high for its quality in my opinion.

Pros: — Solid option if you’re drunk/hungover — The curry sauce for the chips was just the right amount of spicy Cons: — The fried chicken’s skin was a bit slimy and the chicken wasn’t spicy enough — Huge portions jammed into a box; causes the chips to get all soggy — Saw three 10 year olds singing blurred lines loudly unattended

Each Sunday at home it’s Take away! And Lido is the place where you’ve to go! Their curry cheese and chips are delicious! They even offer a choice between two different curry sauces!

I’m from the States. Everything is deep fried. Same here. Even the BBQ ribs or so called ribs looks a lot like(McDonald’s rib meat) are deep fried. Lots of batter on the fish remove and the fish is OK. and unless you ask you will not get any condiment’s. Will not go back unless I have lots of antacids on hand.

Went for a kebak, nothing new here. Ketchup and mayo, lettuce, cabbage and a sliced burger. Chicken kebab, the same using pieces of fried chicken. Meh

I went to Lido once and probably would not be in a hurry to go back. Everything in the place is fried, double friend maybe triple fried? Just a bit too greasy for me. The people weren’t too friendly either but it may be that there always seems to be a line of people lining up for more. Overall, I wasn’t that impressed, and had a stomach ache after from all of the grease. I think if you choose to eat here you are expecting the onslaught of fried everything.

On assignment to Dublin from NYC and my office mates decided we needed a bit of proper chipper to get things going before the Spain v Ireland match. The rain didn’t deter us as we jammed out in heels & skirts to this unassuming little corner shop. We handed over our order of 4 salt & vinegar chips, 3 breaded sausages, 1 regular sausage, 1 spicy chix breast, and 1 junior chix and chip box. The ladies behind the counter were decked out in green and so friendly my jaded NYC self was a little paranoid. Queued up behind us was a neighborhood mom with stroller(kids box, chipper sandwich — that right, a baguette with fries, mayo, lettuce & sauce of choice) and an old, lightly drunk gent(salted chips & breaded burger). All in all, five fearless girls, 6 € each, and some good, local fried food action. Men, eat your hearts out; ’cause ladies can’t dine like this every night, and this grub is good!

Chippery chipper. Good chipper. Everything else is battered. And it does what it says on the tin.

The food isn’t bad and the quarter pounder is good but it’s all too often frequented by annoying little toerags and the occasional scumbag looking to start a fight. That’s the biggest negative about Lido’s.

Note: Lido’s is in D2 not D8… but anyways. Before I moved home from Dublin I ate Lido daily for 3 weeks. I flew back thanks to the unrequited craving for their garlic and cheese chips, which are oh so bad for you, but just oh so good. This place is never short of a line, but is fast enough and easily one of the finest chippers this place has to offer. If you have not been here yet go now!

If you’re a local, you won’t find a better chipper. Everything is made fresh to order, even the chips, which I consider rare in Auld Dublin. The best thing to get to kill the looming hangover is the double quarter pounder — comes with ketchup, onion and a delicious mayonnaise. Their cheese and garlic chips are superb as well. Unfortunately it only stays open til about 1am at weekends so get there early.
