Was looking for something quick after work, burrito and blues was closed and I passed this on Nassau street… im glad I did. I got the basic burrito with beef, € 6.50 with an extra 70c with guacamole… it was delicious, best burrito I’ve had in a while, the girls behind the counter were very friendly too. If your looking for a good burrito check it out… I’ll be back

Consistently the best veggie burritos in Dublin. The sweet potato mash and aubergines just do it for me. The student deal is fabulous value as well. It’s a bit annoying that they don’t take card though and I’ve been in a few times where they haven’t had enough change for everyone, which just causes the already long lines to back-up.

Delicious burritos, quesadillas and nachos. Perfect for a tasty and filling feed, that’s quickly made in front of you at the counter, and inexpensive too — € 5 – 6.50 for most dishes, and less if you’re just looking for a classic cheese quesadilla or simple rice and beans burrito. My usual order is the veggie burrito with a side of tortilla chips with guacamole(nice and zesty) and pico de gallo, washed down with a cold beer. For the fillings you have a choice of meats(braised beef, chicken, chorizo, etc.) or the veggie option is sweet potato mash and grilled aubergine, plus peppers and onions, your choice of white/brown rice and pinto/black beans and salsa, guac, sour cream, cheese, etc. There are a few tables in front of the counter, and there’s a bigger seating area downstairs.

As good as it gets in the(veggie) burrito market! Sweet potato mash and aubergine provide the substance. Long queue but moves as fast as any other burrito place. The spicy option is actually a bit spicy! But like most burrito places in Ireland it is not too spicy :) Generous with the guacamole too ;)

I was devastated when Taco, Taco at the Epicurean food hall closed its shutter a couple of years ago. I thought I would never again have a perfect burrito in Dublin. I was wrong. I was wandering down town one day looking for lunch and I came across Mamas Revenge. I ordered the Classic Chicken Burritios with everything on it. It was divine. The next day I ran back down town for another hit, this time with extra jalapeños. I knew I was addicted! I now go down here at least once a week, I adore this place. The Quesadillas are divine also!

Absolute best burritos in town, I dont care what anyone says! I’ve been lucky enough to see this place grow from its inception into the bustling burrito metropolis it is today! The options are basic enough, Chicken, Chorizo and Beef with Pinto or Black Beans with all the expected salad trimmings. But they stuff in so much that your burrito comes out looking about as big as one of those Brain Bugs from Starship Troopers. Endless queues around lunchtime and a battle to get your seats downstairs. They provide free Metro newspapers which is always a treat too if you don’t have burrito company for the day! The staff are the nicest and will chat to you about literally anything!

Honestly, the best I can say for this place is that the food is inoffensive. Maybe it’s because we’re so far from Mexico? I dunno… The tortillas are kinda floppy and tear easily, so your burrito should come with a fork. I got the vegetarian one, which was supposed to come with sweet potato. She DID put some on, but so little that it was practically a tease. I knew what was coming next… Piled high with decent(I’ll give them that!) veggies that were fairly tasty, then guac(extra charge, of course), and then a sizeable amount of cheese. She threw the cheese on so fast, I didn’t have the chance to tell her, «JESUS, NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!» I like cheese, but if I wanted a «cheese burrito,» I would have gotten a quesedilla. Anywho, they heated it up, and I’m not gonna lie, it tasted ok. Would I go back? Ehhh… I wouldn’t avoid it. But it certainly wasn’t anything to write home about. Also, the staff looked like I had walked in and broken up their lunch plans. Jesus, SMILE, people. Life can’t be that bad…

Got a quesadilla, as I’m not hugely fond of burritos with rice in them… Quesadilla was nice with chilli con carne and cheese inside, recommend getting a side of guacamole with it to tame down the spice! This is a great student joint or those on a budget. There is extra seating downstairs. Gave it a 4 instead of 5 stars, because I don’t like eating with plastic cutlery and the girl gave everyone else a napkin except me. lol it’s the little things!!!

I don’t understand why this place has been getting so many bad reviews on Unilocal. Mama’s Revenge has been on my list for months and I finally got around to it today. Let’s get this straight – this is no Boojum, but they still make an incredible burrito amongst other things. I went in today and ordered a burrito with Chicken and the works and it was delicious. It’s great that they heat up the Burrito on a pan/oven briefly before serving so it’s all nice and warm. They also make lots of things apart from Burritos which I’m really looking to try in the coming days. I just wish they accepted cards and had a simpler menu – classic, basic and a few other types for Burritos felt a bit weird. It would’ve been cooler if they just charged people for what they pick to add in their Burrito instead of classifying it(or maybe I’m just too used to Boojum). Overall, this is a solid little joint and I definitely see myself coming back a few times.

I walk by here everyday and love a good burrito so was delighted to be finally giving this place a go, I normally don’t stop as theres always a q! I don’t claim to be a burrito expert but from the numerous I’ve had it know what I like and what I consider to be a good burrito. The burrito: I went for the classic with beef, pinto beans, peppers and onions covered in hot salsa. The beef; fair enough marinated but it could have been any meat, I didn’t taste beef at all! The beans were over cooked so just mush, the peppers and onions were cooked into oblivion and cost an extra euro for what was literaly quarter of a pepper. I was warned the salsa was HOT… em no! The cheese, was there cheese, yes but didn’t actually taste of anything and I think a burrito NEEDS a nice strong chedder, not just cheese for the sake of adding it just because it’s what people expect. Overall it was a mushy mess that didn’t really taste of anything, no individual flavours or textures and I didnt really like that it has been place on grill after being wrapped. The staff are really nice and friendly, pity about the food. Don’t think I’ll be back

Great spot for a burrito! I appreciated that they swapped the rice for veggies in my chicken burrito, which was tasty. It was also just the right amount of super spicy. My mouth was pleasantly on fire by the end, a rare experience in dublin. The downstairs area is big enough for comfortable dining in. And they have modelos for € 3.50! Like everyone else, my only complaint was the wrapping; could be tidier. But I’m happy to deal with that!

I don’t understand the low star grade… Came here a week ago and stopped in for a quick snack, splitting a burrito in half to share with my partner. It does look a bit dark and dingy but the burrito itself was lovely. I remember thinking it’s one of my top 5 places to go and have a burrito. It was spicy and lovely. I personally was impressed with how good it was. Plan on revising soon!

Is Mama’s revenge sodium poisoning? Maybe I’m being unfair. I just got the basic burrito with no cheese and extra guac and all I could taste was salt. Perhaps its just a bad batch of something that was over-salted. I’ve gotten used to the idea that burritos are a bundle of really fresh and not very processed ingredients, so maybe I’m spoiled, but for the same money I’ve definitely had a lot better.

Best Mexican food in Dublin hands down. They stuff their burritos to the max but still keep their prices super low. Everything has so much flavor. I got the classic burrito plus which included jalapeños, sour cream, and guacamole. The salsa has just the right amount of spice and the guacamole is perfectly smooth. I also tried the beef nachos and they were fantastic as well. Great mixture of spiced beef, cheese and tortilla chips. The staff was so nice and very quick to take orders and get the food out. It’s a pretty small place but there is more seating outside. They offer a discount to students on burritos. Be warned that they only accept cash, no cards. But that’s how you know it’s good.

These peeps make an excellent veggie quesadilla, and the veggie burritos are pretty good too; the Ingredients are fresh and they do a nice value burrito if money is tight and you can’t stomach a monster. While the food is pretty tasty, I’d have to take one star away as it gets absolutely jammed at lunch time and the queuing can be mental and annoyingly without logic. They heat the burritos on a grill after they make them, which means you could be there waving your money for a long time while waiting to pay(even when the place isn’t as packed I’ve been left waiting). This makes for a relaxed atmosphere to eat but not a place to turn to if you only have a 30 minute lunch break.

I think it’s about time and only fair to update my review on Mama’s Revenge. My previous review was based on the one on Thomas St which is now closed. This is based on Leinster St, and wow, what a change! It’s a cosy little spot, on a busy thoroughfare, and they seem to have a constant steady stream of customers through the door, who are dealt with with humour, candor and swift service. There are lots of little elements that make it a nice spot to hang around, like the ‘graffiti wall’ that regulars use to proclaim their love of Mama’s Revenge, and the downstairs seating area, done up in warm colours in a Mexican looking theme. As for the burrito itself, it was divine. It was put in the oven before serving which ensured the tortilla was nice and warm. I sampled both the chorizo and steak before settling on the steak — how could I not, it was seasoned and marinaded so well, and seriously flavoursome. I got lots of guac, all nicely roughly chopped which is how I like it. They also do sweet potato which I have only seen, besides this, in Little Ass Burrito. Here, it’s mashed and smeared on your vege burrito. I didn’t get to try it, but it will be on my list for next time. So, on the Burrito Blowout Scale: Restaurant 4 Atmosphere 4 Service 4 Menu variety 4 Value 5 Location 5 Burrito 4 Tortilla 4 Meat 4 Sauce 3 Spice factor 3 Stay togetherness 3 Presentation 4 Portion Size 5 Dispersion of ingredients 3 Besides the burritos, I really like the fact that they do quesadillas, nachos and chile con carne. I will definitely be back.

I passed by Mama’s Revenge already a couple of times but it needed the burrito blow out for me to go there. It is a bigger shop than it seems, even though I’m glad we found space upstairs — on street level as the downstairs is almost claustrophobic to me. The burrito was rather boring to me — and this time I don’t think I can blame my choice for that. Once the burrito is put together they heat it up. A nice touch especially when you have cheese in it. But it took quite some time and in the end they had problems to read who’s name was on them so that definitely took away from the experience for me. I’d say it’s a nice enough place for students especially with their special students prices but I don’t think it will become my favourite burrito place — for that I had too many nice burritos elsewhere by now.

I was here last Tuesday as part of Unilocal’s Burrito Blowout. The upstairs seating is tiny– would seat 6 people uncomfortably. Downstairs is much bigger but quite dark and there was a smell of damp. You certainly would not be coming here for the surroundings. I got the classic burrito and a soft drink for € 6. The service was slow. Our burritos were made quick enough but then they were put in a heater and it took the guy at the till what seemed like an age to take our money. They were obviously flustered from the crowd of students downstairs who were taking part in a burrito eating contest. Down to the burrito– I got chicken, sour cream, medium heat salsa, pico de gallo, brown rice and pinto beans. I wasn’t overly impressed with how all the ingredients were cold to begin with and then when the burrito was made it was heated. I would’ve liked if the tortilla was heated and the meat, beans and rice were all hot to begin with. Subsequently my burrito was warm at best with many cold parts. That is one of my pet hates, I really feel food should be hot or cold, not warm and not a combination of the two. The one redeeming factor of this burrito was the fact that the flavour was really there. I think it was the pico de gallo that was the main source of flavour and it was actually extremely tasty. If possible I’d give them 2&½ stars as I feel I’m being generous with 3 stars and if it weren’t for the tastiness of the ingredients this place would definitely be getting 2 stars. Also just on a side note– they made a point out of guacamole costing an extra 70c. One of our group asked for guacamole, was told by the girl it was extra and said that was ok. The girl then proceeded to put on the meanest amount of guacamole I’ve ever seen. It was literally less than a teaspoon. This isn’t saffron we’re talking about. It’s not worth more than its weight in gold. The main ingredient is avocado. You’ll get a pack of 2 for less than a euro in aldi/lidl!!! If someone is paying the 70c for guacamole then they should be given a generous amount. It’s not gonna break the bank. If I’m honest this really put me off the place. I feel like there are far too many burrito places in Dublin to come back here for a return visit.

The night we had a Unilocal event there was also a burrito eating contest. Great idea for a 3 square meter restaurant. Food was actually nice. Ordered chicken burritos & a chili con Carne nachos. Just the right amount of spice. On a scale of 1 to 10, food 7.5, staff 7, cleanliness of restaurant 6.5, bright idea 2.

I had one major setback as soon as I got there. They don’t accept cards so I had to rush out again to find an ATM. Boooh. Ten minutes later and I’m back, starving. Anyway, onto the burrito business. I ordered their classic burrito, which they say comes with«added fun» such as jalapeños and lettuce. I don’t know about the lettuce, but jalapeños are certainly… amusing. Beef, pico de gallo, brown rice and black beans went into the MASSIVE burrito along with some unrequested sour cream and cheese. The sauce was hot, just like it should be. The flavours in my burrito were just right, I loved it. I think this was the first place where the rice actually tasted as rice is supposed to taste when cooked right. That being said, I then tasted a bit of my bfs burrito with chorizo and pinto beans and was somewhat disappointed, the chorizo meat and the sauce it comes in is too fatty and unsavoury. So the choice of ingredients may be a bit hit and miss. To add insult to injury, his burrito was cold, even after going into the small oven where they put all the burritos after rolling them. The ingredients should be hot from being cooked, heating the burrito afterwards won’t yield the same results. They only have two(mexican) beers on offer, Modelo and Corona, which isn’t very cool.
