I like to combine my guilty pleasures together… which is why every couple of months I can be found in a McDonalds somewhere having a big Mac meal and reading the National Enquirer. Toxic crap for my body combined with toxic crap for my mind… it’s fantastic! I almost always have my headphones on to avoid the sounds of children happily killing each other in the play area.
And yes McDonalds is the same crappy experience no matter where you go, but sometimes you get to value to the sameness more than the crappiness. Afterall how often can you predict your dining experience with such accuracy… ok I have been slightly surprised by this one recently when my burger wasn’t as cold as I expected it to be. No rational choice model can explain why every three months or so I find myself thinking ‘oooh I’d love a big mac and some gossip’ … one of the mysteries of life!
