While I’m not a drinker, I did stop in while waiting for a look while waiting for to board the Jeanie Johnston nearby. Randomly, there’s a selection of rather clever greeting cards for sale in the shop & I did purchase a few of them.

Good selection, nice and friendly professional staff that gives decent customer service, I asked them to recommend me good wine, I’m praying they give me the right one as this is a gift for a fussy wine expert.

Great place and good selection. The prices are a bit higher than I would expect to pay. I love my wine and cannot bring myself to rate down a good wine store :-) This place is convinient for me and have been there a few times. Shame about the location as the CHQ building is always empty :-(

Being a member of the Mitchells wine gild means I’m unlikely to give it a bad review, it is a shop that creates an atmosphere just by having the stock that would make a wine god happy and the god of spirits decide to give up the day job. The guys behind the counter know everything about everything to do with booze, they will guide you to the perfect drink for pretty much any occasion or food — I’d lay good money that if you asked what the perfect wine for a big mac would be they would tell you — and they’d be right! A bone to pick with the guys though, they have recently moved premesis from a particularly well fitting building on Kildare St. that had so much charm and atmosphere that it always felt like an occasion going in, the new shop is less so, a lot less so in fact, if it wasn’t for the staff I’d say the new place would never survive!

Mitchell & Son is a high-end off-licence in the CHQ Building at Docklands. Some great wines, champagnes and liqueurs are stocked here and it would be a good place for a wino to shop for wine. They have really large selections of wine from the Burgundy and Bordeaux regions, and also a large selection of German wine, which you don’t see all that frequently. Look out for their gift boxes — you can get a gift-boxed set of 2 bottles of prosecco for just over 20 euro. Wow — thinking about gifting one of them to myself! Mitchell & Son also stocks a small selection of chocolates and deli items such as jams and chutneys. Not sure how quickly these would run out the door in an offy but it’s nice to see them trying something different. They also run six week wine appreciation courses — what I wouldn’t do to be a part of that group(except maybe, pay the 330 euro course fee! Ouch!)
