What is about Nandos that attracts swarms of teenage girls in large and noisy groups? It’s hardly the healthiest of food on the planet. The night we were there, the average age of the 100 or so punters was about 16 and 80% were teenage girls. Go figure. I won’t go into the formula here but suffice it to say we had chicken. Hardly a surprise since that’s all they serve. Fine dining it ain’t but it is an excellent fuel stop at reasonable prices. Portions are generous, soft drinks are bottomless, the staff are efficient and friendly. What’s not to like?

Nandos has arrived in Dun Laoghaire! I’d been to Nando’s a few times in town and really enjoyed their chicken pitas and wraps, but on my first trip to the Dun L location, I decided to branch out and try the beanie pita. Oh. My. God. It was delicious. It was a chickpea, sweetcorn, cheese, lentil, pumpkin seed burger stuffed in a pita, which I then drenched in the extra hot peri peri sauce. It doesn’t state on the menu, but there is an option to get a slice of pineapple, which my boyfriend wisely decided to add to mine while he was at the till ordering. It all just worked and tasted amazing. The only side I’ve ever had at Nandos were the chips, which are yummy dipped in any of the peri peri sauces. The staff was friendly and the place wasn’t too busy at lunchtime, but I’m sure that will change soon enough.
