This is not my type of place so from the offset that will influence the star grading which is a tad unfair but if I was, a) drawing or about to draw the state pension. b) have an affinity for ornaments such as floral candle holders. c) on a mission to discover another land with my early 1900’s style telescope. Then I would be a 5 star lover of this place. Having said that it’s very popular and the staff are very nice. When I popped in there they had 70% of certain items which is great.

If you are looking for the ‘kooky’ gift then this is the place! Weird books/booklets, upholstery, jewelry, etc. Might be a bit pricey but your gift will be remembered.

Past Times is a trip down nostalgia lane, with all its stock harking back to bygone eras. You can find some lovely old-style jewellery alongside some rather mawkish mugs bearing messages such as «A Daughter is a little girl who grows up to be a FRIEND» and love heart bells. Less sentimental items include pop art cat cushions, Pink Floyd coasters and Beatle-mania bags. Much of the stock has a British theme, so you may find a surfeit of London bus-shaped tins containing toffee.

Past Times is a very strange shop that sells new«old» things at ridiculous prices. There’s plenty of horrible ornaments, antique-style teddy bears, gold snow-globes and napkin rings, that sort of thing. You can buy matching tapestry cushions with«Lady of the Manor» and«Lord of the Manor» embroidered on them, fairly typical products in a shop that seems hung up on English tradition. One would wonder who shops here?
