What can I not say about this place! The venue is so cool and very hipster! Their drinks are to die for! Always great music and the best seats in the house I find are in the smoking area! Can’t highly recommend it enough

I LOVEPYG! The 2 for 1 cocktails from Tuesday — Sunday is a great incentive to get myself and my friends in here, as students, we love a good deal! This place is almost too cool, with the chilled out vibe on their alleyway outdoor seating area to the dimly lit seating areas hidden away in several different nooks and crannies inside. I absolutely love it. During the day, you can come here for a drink, with great music playing all day long you don’t even notice the time going by with how comfortable and relaxed the atmosphere is! You could easily come in here for drinks after work/college or on a day off and end up spending the evening here by accident because it’s so homely. The staff are great, the food is AMAZING! And they serve til late too! Try the vegetarian paella — divine! The bathroom are also gorgeous, which is always so important I think. They’re always clean and have a very fancy ambiance. They also host club nights here on weeknights which are absolutely fantastic, definitely worth checking out. They tend to have some pretty great DJs in, keep an eye on their Facebook for those.

Pros: — Cheap drinks on a Sunday — One of the best outdoor sitting people watching spots in town on Coppinger Row — Nice tapas during the day — Cosy little nooks inside — Outdoor heaters & blankets outside Cons: — Possible grossness awaiting in said blankets from previous punters — Generally not great music — Toilet situation — on a busy night, or a Sunday, you could be waiting half an hour outside the ladies. Not good. Not good at all. Try it sure, you might like it. What ya got to lose?

Good things: well situated, perfect location to have a pint and go to a restaurant or to a club after. Good to be outside in a sunny day and offers in drinks Sundays afternoon. Not so good things: I have the feeling that this pub doesn’t find a proper personality, it tries to be a restaurant, a trendy pub and a club altogether, if you want to enjoy the dinner, the music is too loud, if you want to dance there is no space, etc. At the end is no one of this three ways is good enough. The service is not what I expect in a pub, kind of slow, inefficient and unpolite(they look very well, all of them, but… the look is not all, i had also once a bad experience with an arrogant guy at the bar. Maybe it was a bad day, but for sure it wasn’t my fault at all, that this guy had a bad day). The food has room for improvement, but is not bad at all. And it is not cheap. Conclusion: I the friends want to meet there, I will go, but if I have to decide maybe not.

I had a very poor experience at the restaurant part of Pyg before, but somehow I ended up going back in the evening for cocktails. I had heard better things about Pyg in the night time, so I was hoping it would be an improvement. It was not. We went through inside and the music was so loud it was painful. We walked down steps and it was more bearable there, so we sat for one drink. We looked at the menu then, and I realised the cocktails were at least 13 euro each. This was far more than I had ever intended to pay for a drink, so I decided to opt out. One of my friends was driving, so was also not drinking, so myself and another decided we’d share just one, as we were curious about some of the cocktails. When the waitress came around, promptly in fairness, she told us the menu we were holding was the outdated menu, and gave us the new one instead. Both menus had some sort of goopy stuff on the pages, and I’m not going to try to guess what it was, but it was disgusting. At this point I was definitely not putting money towards the place. My friend chose the Pyglet cocktail. The waitress then stood for a few awkward seconds and then scoffed«is no one else getting a drink?». I kind of mumbled to my partner about not really wanting to pay that much and she was like«sorry, what?» so I just said, «no, just that for now.» and she walked off. At this point I was pretty pissed off and remembering how bad my experience had been the last time. I was very annoyed to have brought friends here. The cocktail arrived and it was delicious. Very different tasting with a lovely mix of fresh cucumber and florals. Very little alcohol content from what I could taste, probably just the single shot, which was fine for the taste. Still, what are you spending 13 euro on? We left within 20 minutes, and I can safely say I won’t be back.

You know what? I always hear people complain about how this place sucks, how the staff are all assholes and how it’s not as good as people tend to say it is. But boy if you need a good 2 hours to unwind on a nice day, I couldn’t recommend anywhere better. I’ve been here on numerous occasions with tons of my asshole friends. Our conversations are usually always about the same things. 1. Bitching about old friends from school who are falling behind in life. 2. Talking about how the relationship’s we’re in are so healthy, unless we haven’t been on the make or break Electric Picnic trip yet!(Once you’re over that hump you may as well get married) A single drink here will always turn into 2 or 3 or 4 or 5 or 6 or 7 or 8 or 9 or… my keyboard just ran out of numbers. Then you run into people all the time. Like Jess. She said she was gonna move to Paris but now she’s decided to just stick it out in her job and she likes the place she’s living so she’ll shelve those plans for a few years. Besides, she’s heard Paris is a bit shit to live in anyway unless your dead set on it.

I will start from pros and I’ll move to cons. Pros — the atmosphere, chicken nachos(amazing), relatively average prices(apart of «free cocktail if you’ll pay for the 1st one 13 €). Cons — very slow service which like to mix up orders

Review is for drinks not the food– great place to sit outside in the summer months in Dublin as they have tables on the street. The cocktails are expensive at 13 euro each so make sure you go for their 241 deal on the weekdays. They’re delicious though! Get the Paloma Fizz or the tangle twister. They have DJs playing, the venue is big inside, I believe there’s also a Shisha bar too. Also if you’re single and ready to mingle, there are some good looking people here!

Positives: food was ok. Negatives: even though a table was booked, we were being rushed off by the staff as soon as we sat down — asking for us to give up half of our table for another party. Unfriendly service — didn’t trust us to pay so held a card behind the bar. As soon as we had finished eating, we were asked if we were going to order anything else, and if not we would have to move! Overall, considering the party spent over € 200, and could have easily stayed all night had the service been better, 1* is a compliment.

Super trendy all right ! super«cool» and laid back… This is how it is mid week. great crowd mid week. usually just a young enough after work crowd. great atmosphere. deadly music ! its quite a hipster place all right but thats ok with me… Then, weekend… its still super trendy etc. but becomes a HQ for not just hipsters… but trying to hard to be hipsters. absolute wannabes(in my opinion) not my thing at all now. basically a place people go to post to show off their beany hats and vintage jackets… Sunday — avoid at all costs… half price drinks. great. but not when you have to queue for ages and ages to get one. Great little smoking area though. heated, cosy. pints are quite poor. cocktails are good ! wine is quite expensive … they do tapas to if your looking for a bite to eat ! Thursday and Fridays are best nights in my opinion…

If you would have asked me to write this review a year ago, I probably would’ve given the place 5 stars. I loved the vibe and the music and the dancing. But I guess I’m getting old, and it all seems a bit too much now. Sure the music is still great, especially the dj downstairs when I’m drunk and want to dance. But everytime I go I seem to find something new that annoys me. And the queues for the bathroom are terrible!

After years of going here and my raving review me and my friends were refused from this place for not being«regulars» very disappointed altogether! They have lost a lot of business now.

Want to seat outside with a cold beer? Want to enjoy a cocktail at the bar? Need to move it on the dance floor? What not trying a Shisha with friends. This place is packed every night of the week till it closes

2.5 star review. I was excited to eat here. It was always so busy and I wanted to like this place. Self-seating, rushed service, pretty mediocre food. I don’t understand the high ratings. We ordered the combo platter for two, which for € 25 seemed like an excellent value for everything that was on it, but nothing on it worked. Everything was under-seasoned, and the battered cod and calamari were soggy. After seating ourselves, we couldn’t find any serving staff to flag down. Our orders were finally taken from a very rushed server, who came back with a number and asked us to pay immediately. Unorthodox, but we obliged. 5 minutes after that, before our wine had even made it to the table, another staff member dropped off a card at our table without a word. It read: Hey Pyglets, your table may be moved at anytime to facilitate some disco dancing. It was 8pm! The entire experience turned me off. It felt like they just wanted us to get us to get out from the moment we walked in. I may go back for a drink, but never again for a meal.

Pymalion is a nice bar. While its a little dark, given that its under ground, I find it cosy. I like the atmosphere the cellar feel gives the place. On the last occasion we ordered food from their tasting menu and all the food we got was great. Much nicer than what we had on our last visit to the Market Bar. I think Pygmalion will be our new go to bar to for drinks and tapas. The wait staff were very pleasant also. The loo’s were not too bad on this occasion, considering I’ve always thought they were always need of attention on previous visits.

This place is seriously overrated. Pygmalion has become the headquarters for Dublin’s hippest of hip hipsters, where people are so busy checking out everyone around them that they don’t notice how mind-numbingly generic the house music is on the cramped dancefloor. I will give it props for the half price drinks they do on a Sunday. However, word has clearly gotten out about this thrifty deal and now Sundays are so busy that you’re forced to suck-in, sidestep and shuffle your way around the club, and prepare to lose your voice from trying to shout over the noise of the sardine-packed crowd outside. To be avoided if you’re looking for a chilled drink and good chat. To be bookmarked if you have a thing for skinny guys with slicked-back hair.

My first time walking around South William Street area in Dublin when I first moved here, I saw this bar totally packed full of mainly an after-work crowd on a Thursday evening, and I thought I really want to try that place! A year later, on a random sunny Wednesday afternoon I found myself sitting just inside the doors that go out onto the patio drinking some specialty cocktails. The atmosphere is really nice, on nice days it’s really open and breezy, with comfy chairs. The music is great if you’re into retro and classic rock, even if a little loud for a 3PM cocktail with a close friend. We didn’t eat, but tried several cocktails on the menu. The Elderflower Collins was really good; the mai tai was a little sweet and really lime-y. The cocktails tend to be really sweet — sugar added to almost all of them, which means some are really good for sweet tooth and super tasty, but they are really really sweet! Overall it’s a fun place, would love to go again, maybe for a brunch or an after-work drink.

Ooh I think I have just discovered another favourite haunt of mine! I think it is probably the same for many other Dubliners judging by how busy it was on a Wednesday evening. Lots of seating both inside and outdoors(with heating!) with table service from friendly and sweet waitresses(a hunky waiter came along later for his 10 pm shift… FYI for you ladies ;-)) The usual on tap but they do have my Hoegaarden so that keeps Timmy happy. Prices are around the € 5(+/-1) mark which is reasonable, given its proximity to Temple Bar. Head indoors so that your hips don’t lie(geddit??) to the groovy music after 9 pm when the DJ pumps it up!
