Was here two weeks ago. Weak. Blaring loud 70’s disco music. Half assed attempt at starters and dessert. Main course was fine. Service was shoddy but friendly. BYOB policy is good but not enough to bring me back. Something gone wrong here or else my standards are too high. Don’t bring anyone here that you want to impress such as you in-laws, fussy mother or potential partner. Its ok.

What a delicious and cosy place to have dinner! What brilliant and attentive staff. Great vibes and great food made for a great evening. I like that they have only a meat and fish option for the main and 2 options for the dessert, makes choosing what to have so much more simple.

One of my favourite spots in Dublin. Chorizo eggs for breakfast, Bunga Bunga sambo with soup for lunch and the constantly evolving FIFO menu for dinner. Rigbys has character too. It’s not often you get a Chef front of house. I’m still amazed at the variety that James and the team can create in the compact kitchen area. Check in on Facebook for a free coffee with your meal.

Came here for an early dinner(around 6.30) on a Friday evening with two other friends and loved everything. I had read a few very mixed reviews beforehand so I wasn’t sure what to expect. A lot of what the bad reviews said was true — it was narrow, the tables and chairs were glorified garden furniture, it’s loud and there is an occasional draft — but, in a way, all these aspects lend themselves to Rigby’s charm. This place is all about the food and the food is great. The idea of only having a choice between meat and fish makes the dining experience much less stressful and you can rest easy knowing that whatever you decide on is going to be great. For starters I had a goat’s cheese salad and I also tried the fish starter which was an assortment of shrimp, clams, hake etc. and they were both delicious. For my main course I had the lamb which was cooked to perfection and served beautifully. We brought our own wine, which saves so much on the price of a dinner, and the waiter was very helpful in opening the wine and keeping the other bottle chilled. It gets busy as the night goes on and we were told in advance that they would need the table back by 9. They were very polite about this and tried not to rush us. We asked if we could sit outside to finish our glasses of wine which they were more than happy to let us do. The chef came outside and spoke to us for a while and we even had a cheese plate sent out to us on the house! Very impressed! This place is great for a unique and personal dining experience. I rarely write reviews but I think it’s great to support someone who’s trying to do something a bit different and who is really involved with the customers. Go go go!

One of my local eatery. Good honest food made with high quality ingredients. Don’t order the large breakfast unless you are really hungry, and it’s a monster, will set you up for anything the day has ahead.

We went to Rigby’s the other night for dinner. The place is tiny, but charming. I love that you only really have two options — fish or meat. There are times when looking over a menu is too much. I opted for the meat starter and the fish main — both really excellent dishes. And, to top off the evening, the chocolate crème brûlée was dynamite. So much yum! It is nice that it is BYOB. The one downside to Rigby’s is their bizarre music selection, and the fact that the music is way too loud. For a place that can seat maybe 30 people tops, you shouldn’t be playing Metallica during dinner. Also, if you wanted water, or anything from the servers you kind of had to chase them down. But, those are two small things in my book, because the food was incredible!

I’ve only gone here for lunch but I have heard and read the Unilocal reviews that cite that it’s also a great evening spot, so I’ll definitely factor in an evening here at some stage. Inside it’s small and feels very about the food — if that makes sense? A lot of establishments fritter too much time over the interior, which is important don’t get me wrong but here you just get the vibe that it’s about the food and the food takes centre stage from the moment you walk in. You see the chef prep area to your right and then make your way to the seated area. They have amazing sandwich prices. € 5 for the roll pictured and you get to decide on several types of bread which is supplied by the Paris Bakery. I had the chicken and bacon with tarragon mayonnaise on a French Baguette. It was delicious, very flavoursome, satisfying and huge! Coffee was € 2 to go, solid lunch for under € 10. I think if I could think of a image, then this place is like a heavy weight boxer from the 1960’s. Not into fancy crap, down to earth but is very serious about damaging you. This place is serious about exciting your taste buds and at an affordable price. There is flour and digestive biscuits for sale at the till which is rather random but I love that confidence about deciding to be different because they are good at the important stuff. Oh and they are very friendly men!

A gem of a restaurant! Book for the surprise dinner. Chef comes up with the menu on the day. Choice of 2 starters, 2 mains and 2 deserts! Fish or meat normally. Cooked really well

Rigby’s is a great addition to Upr Leeson Street, chef is very strong, focus is good ingredients served well, not too fussy. The BYOB and deal with the wine shop next door make this a very well priced evening. Scallops were particularly stand out. I have also just eaten a take away sandwich, Proper carved ham and chedder cheese with homemade coleslaw — you will not eat mass produced coleslaw after this, great sandwich, great value, will not eat again for a while.

Great idea, great location — a welcome addition to Dublin. They have ‘menu free evenings’ where you are given a choice of 2 starters, 2 mains, and 2 desserts. It is ‘bring your own wine,’ which is easy enough given what’s next door. The food was really quite good. Can’t wait to go back and see what else the chef can cook up. Make reservations.
