Alright so it’s a Tesco… But it’s an express Tesco and have to say, it’s stocked really well, great variety and compared to their larger outlets I’ve been very impressed with the meats and vegetables. Been here on a few occasions as it’s the nearest supermarket style shop to my house, the ingredients have been fresh, no getting home and realising when I cut into the peppers theirs mould which frequently happened in their Ballybrack branch. Open till late every night, it’s very accessible and everything from break, lunches, dinners, homewares, domestic products, newsagents, gift card, fresh flowers, etc. A decent off license section, large fridge space so it’s a grand place to pick up the pre-chilled beers which they have a good selection however for wines, I skip across to Baggot Street wines.

An odd tesco… they have tried several different layouts but no matter what they do they never get the queue management quite right, there is always a huge line of people waiting to b e served, even when the shop is not that busy. Not one of my favourite stores as a result!

Occasionally when I forget lunch and have only a few minutes to step out, I stop at this Tesco. For a smaller Tesco, they do have a decent selection for lunch options and no matter how long the cue is, it always goes quickly.

Out of the smaller tesco’s this is not too bad. I find I end up going in here to pick up something I may have forgotten whilst I was in one of the bigger branches — I always end up being disappointed as they dont have what im looking for. I guess its good for your regular stuff like tea bags, milk, sugar and cornflakes. Hard to get parking too if you have a car. Handy place thought for people working near by.

Super handy in theory, but even though I work in the area I usually end up walking up to Dunnes in St. Stephen’s Green S.C. because I sort of forget about this Tesco. Mainly because they don’t have half the things I need. Including a serious lack of low fat yoghurts /cheese! I always call it boy’s Tesco for this reason. In saying that it’s dead handy for grabbing a few bits and pieces around lunch or a convenience meal afterwards. Once you’ve nothing in particular in mind. It’s definitely better than the Camden Street Tesco Express though. It does have a better selection than most smaller convenience stores, including a great selection of magazines, newspapers, DVDs and some random household goods. The queue is crazy around 1pm, I’m sure it moves quick enough, but I can’t handle standing between the fridges with 20 or more people ahead of me so try to go a bit earlier if I need to. That’s true of most places in the Baggot St area though. Also, ATM inside, always handy.

This is the loneliest Tesco in the whole world. You should come at around five thirty and see all the single twenty to thirty somethings who work in the area plod in here all soggy and morose. It’s the end of another unrewarding day, and though they’re dreams and expectations may have been high this morning, tonight they’ve given way to melancholy and despair. And so, they queue up meekly beside one another in their damp overcoats to buy a ready meal for one and two cans of Tuborg. It’s the exact antithesis of what the ‘here come the girls’ Boots commercial says about being a young professional. If I could play cupid for a day, I would play cupid here. Then all these young people could pair off, go home, eat chicken korma from a box, get tipsy and watch Strictly Go Ballroom Dancing together. I love this Tesco because it’s easily the most poetic supermarket around. Four Stars.

Tesco on Baggot St used to be a complete dive. It needed a major overhaul and it got an overhaul, not a major one so it looks better than it was. I wouldn’t really call it a supermarket; it’s more of a glorified convenience store. They have pretty much all the basics, but they wouldn’t have as much stock as a major supermarket. Like if you were looking for a particular brand of an intensive conditioner, chances are you won’t be getting it here. Also, it’s always bloody freezing! It’s like half the store is full of freezers. SO maybe bring a coat for your shopping trip!

Whenever I felt like doing a «big» grocery shop for all my staple items I always headed to this Tesco when I was living in the area. Not as convenient as the D2 location, this one is about three times the size. Great items to stock up on: liquor and wine — this location has a fantastic selection. Jellys, they are cheap and good here. Meat — they always seem to have a promotion on their chicken. Junk food — a large junk food aisle is present. Readymade/oven read meals — loads of selection and the prices are reasonable… and not needing to prepare things but turn on the oven is priceless. I am also notorious with my former flatmates for buying the 12 for 2euro tesco brand toilet paper… your flatmates will start to go and reload the supply after a few rolls(it’s actually that terrible).
