Specialties

Wide range of knitting supplies and knit, crochet, sew and embroidery classes AND HiyaHiya needles! We carry mostly natural fibres and blends, including Irish hand-dyed and hand-painted yarns from Life in the Long Grass and Smudge Yarns, and Irish yarns from Studio Donegal and Cushendale. We also carry Schoppel Woolle, West Yorkshire Spinners, Katia, Rico, Artesano, Adriafil, Manos del Uruguay, King Cole etc.

We also stock a few brands of crochet threads, including the Lizbeth brand.

The Constant Knitter is the only stockist in Ireland of the superb HiyaHiya brand of knitting needles and accessories. We love buttons and notions and are constantly adding to the range.

Finally, there is a beautiful bright and spacious studio over the shop where we have lots of knitting, crochet, sewing and embroidery classes. Every few months, the renowned Maire Treanor joins us for a full day workshop of Irish Crochet /Clones Lace. Our newly added Machine Knitting classes/courses using Brother, Knitmaster and Passap machines, are proving incredibly popular.

History

Established in 2011.

The shop was opened in December 2011 on Francis Street, in the heart of the Liberties area of Dublin. Francis Street is home to most of the best antique and vintage shops in Dublin and also lots of craft studios. The Constant Knitter was voted one of the 12 best shops in Ireland in 2012 by the readers of The Irish Times.

Meet the Business Owner

Rosemary M.

Business Owner

Prior to opening The Constant Knitter, I was Assistant Company Secretary at Waterford Wedgwood plc and C&C Group plc where I was in charge of Stock Exchange and Companies Office compliance and other company law matters. I had always loved craft, especially knitting and had always wanted to own a shop.
