OK, not to be confused with the restaurant that is also found in the Botanic Gardens, this the Courtyard Tea Rooms. The venue is an appealing canteen style café/tea room on the left hand side after the Botanic Gardens information booth, but before you reach the building with the toilets and the restaurant. In the Courtyard Tea Rooms you file past the food in the glass fridge counter and choose what you want, put it on your tray and pay at the till. Today the queue was slow moving. To me they appeared to be understaffed. But one of our party thought they was plenty of staff, just that they could be a bit faster. Either way, it was slow to order and pay for the food. Me and my partner went for the panini options, so we had to wait for it to be toasted. But they brought it down when it was ready, which was good. While we waited we ate our dessert, a raspberry scone that we got between us. It was very nice and big too. My panini was a let down. I went for the Ham, Cheese, Pineapple and Rocket on your bog standard café panini. But there was mustard seed in it, lots of it… the menu on the wall behind the counter didn’t mention this. It made a difference and not a good one. I wouldn’t have ordered it otherwise. Two toasted paninis, one raspberry scone and one 500ml bottle of orange cost 19EUR. I didn’t think what we got by way of food and service was worth 19EUR. Oh and the website address that I found on their sign(see picture) doesn’t appear to work.
