Been meaning to try here for a while as I’ve heard good things and the lunch queues are usually out the door! Got a chicken mozzarella pesto sandwich on tomato bread. As they were making it, noticed one out of two girls didn’t have their hair tied up well, very unkempt. Gave me reservations about cleanliness, not looking for hair-netted employees, but just well-groomed…the other girl had her hair up in a neat bun. Anyway anyway… to the sandwich. Noticed they microwave everything, very disappointing! I mean, Subway has a toaster oven! So my resulting sandwich, had nice melted cheese and chicken, but tomato oil everywhere cos the warmed bread leaks as the microwave makes it moist, and no toast texture… So it was eating hot contents surrounded by cold moist bread. So disappointed!!! The place has potential though, cos the variety on the menu is impressive! My thoughts: better equipment and tidier employees!

Been going here since May and I’m still blown away every time I opt to try something new on the menu. Sandwiches are absolutely gorgeous; huge selection and a ton of variety. Slightly on the expensive side but well worth it. Really fresh ingredients which is a breath of fresh air considering the brown lettuce I’d see all the time in other chain delis. Very friendly staff, they’ll always keep in touch with what they’re putting on your sandwich and deliver it with a smile.

Very good option to grab a decent and big sandwich for lunch when you work close. The serrano goat is very good! And the people who work in very kind and nice.

The sandwiches are very fresh and the staff take their time to prepare them. They are friendly and make sure they keep their standard. Coffee here is however not very good. They don’t make a difference between flatwhite, latte and white Americano.

I had the Reuben here and it was delicious! Fresh ingredients and very VERY generous amounts of pastrami. I opted to have it on the tomato bread which was a good choice. Will definitely be coming back here again. Fast and friendly service too. Make sure you get here early because during the week they run out of ingredients which can limit the choice — but it’s worth it for the fresh quality.

Fresh, healthy food to go. Good selection at the salad bar and numerous meats to choose from. Queues can be very long around lunch time obviously. Charging for heating the sandwich is a bit much really. Staff are lovely though and most are quite quick with preparing your sandwich or salad bowl. Tip — if you eat in you get free pasta which is seasoned with a lovely Italian olive oil… if your a regular and smile, they may give you a small portion of pasta to go

I read about this place in Totally Dublin magazine in an article about the best sandwiches in Dublin. When I seen it was a New York Deli I knew I had to come here. And lads I was not disappointed. I got the Reuben — Pastrami, Gherkins, mustard and swiss cheese on rye, toasted. It was amazing. The amount of pastrami in it was ridiculous. It was like the type of thing you see on Man vs Food or Diners, Drive Ins and Dives. Juicy, tangy and genuine American food. It was served up pretty quickly too, although I wasn’t in during rush hour. I thought it seemed real authentic New York and the selection of pastrami and beef sandwiches was really good. The fact that it only cost me 6 euro is the clincher. A pre packed roll or ciabatta from O’Brien’s can cost that much, so why waste your money there when you can buy a beautiful sandwich that’ll fill you from a local independent place instead? I don’t even have to consider going anywhere else for a sandwich after eating here.

This joint had a lot of potential. My sandwich was really good and my overall experience was pleasant. I ordered the Pastrami and Gorgonzola sandwich. It’s supposed to come with a spinach salad between the bread but instead I got generic lettuce. There was a lot of mayonnaise, too. I’m not used to condiments being put on both pieces of bread. Mayo on one piece and whole grain mustard on the other would have been fine. And then I only tasted Gorgonzola cheese in a couple bites. The menu for sandwiches looks amazing and I want to return before I leave Dublin and try something different. The pastrami was delicious and warm so they don’t have it all wrong! € 6 for a big sandwich(that came with fusilli pasta on the side) and a diet coke isn’t bad!

Went there today with my brother and hubby. Haven’t been here since about 2 years ago, and the sambos are still consistently delish and great portions as well. I had the chorizo and feta sandwich, my brother had the Lombardi and my hubby, the NY Reuben. I was glad to come back and still get the nice friendly service.

Great, fresh ingredients. Sandwiches and salads are excellent. I had the Californian today on tomato bread. Top notch. Queue can get long at lunch, but well worth the wait.

Amazing amazing sandwiches. You can spend € 6 and get one of the best lunchtime treats ever. One of my favourites is the Serrano and Avocado, on tomato sour dough bread(that they make themselves). Chris in work swears by the Chicken and Chorizo, while Colin tends to go for the Hot Colin, obviously. The first time I went there, I got a salmon wrap and was a little underwhelmed. Then I discovered that sandwiches is the way to go. Don’t bother with anything else, unless highly recommended elsewhere. 4 stars because they don’t take cards, but there are two other locations which are bigger that do.

It sounds silly but, lots of sandwich places make crap sandwiches. So it’s great to find a sandwich place that really knows what it’s about. This place is a cut above: real sandwiches, selection of breads, good coffee. Plus salads. It’s the sandwiches that make it though — properly made to order, great pastrami selections, tasty stuff. Highly recommended if a real sandwich is your thing.

I have been in here many times in the past and usually when I arrive just after 2ish I have the choice of a wrap or a pumpernickel roll … not that I am complaining about it! I don’t know if it because of the weather or just cos they knew I was really hungry(they has psychic powers). I went in to get a roll and found a huge stack of freshly baked rolls on the counter in front of me. So to be different this time, I went with the oregano roll and it was yummy. If O’Briens could understand what it means to make sandwiches the way these guys do they would never find themselves short of business. The staff here are always friendly and courteous in my experience and they will actually make your sandwich the way you want it. They do a huge variety of sandwiches from cheese to veggy, and fishy to meat feast, they have them all! I give this place two thumbs up any day of the week … not sure if they open on weekends though ;)

Sandwiches taste so deli-fresh here. They’re generous with the meat portions, so the bigger specialty sandwiches are the best. The Mile High Club especially– it’s big enough for lunch for two people and only € 7.50. Beat the lunch rush, and your sambo will be even bigger.

I just read Ian’s review, and I’m regretting not knowing about the legendary sandwiches in advance! Was in here yesterday for a quick lunch, so me and my friend both ordered a special each — I asked for veg lasagne, and he was getting pork loin with egg. We were waiting for 20 mins, and then another 5 and then another 5… all the time being told, its ok, its on the way… really disappointing. When my veg lasagne eventually arrived, it was meat! now im not vegetarian, but if I were, I would have been pretty annoyed! So my friend carried on with his main(which was really really poor in all fairness), while the server(reluctantly) brought my main back to be replaced. It arrived about 10 mins later, and had blatantly been microwaved. Really really disappointed. Might go back at some stage but only out of curiosity for the sandwiches!

I’ve had sandwiches here a couple of times– always variations on pastrami, but I consistently forget to ask for the rye bread so I get it on a roll. Still, they’re really tasty. Last time I was in there, I saw someone getting a heapin’ big mix of tasty-looking salads in a plastic bowl ahead of me in the queue and it almost dragged me away from my Reuben. It also gets the thumbs-up from my friend and her fiancé, for whom I once served as deliverygirl. A minor dislike is how they microwave the innards of the sandwiches. Now, I don’t know how else they’re supposed to make them hot so quickly, but it’s a turnoff seeing your sandwich fillings nuked and slid from a greasy plate onto your mustardy roll. They also tried to microwave mine on the same plate as the next customer’s. The problem here is I cannot eat what he was having. I know it’s more economical to double up, but what if I want my food to taste like pastrami without lashings of my neighbour’s salami?(Of course, the counterperson put my stuff on its own plate as soon as I asked, so the sub-point is nearly moot.) I love the homey décor and how tiny it is– I’d like some space that people could eat in, but that would probably detract from its charm. There’s a standing-room counter in the corner, but it’s just as nice to bring your sizzling bounty to your home or workplace to enjoy in peace. It’s one of the very few places I could find pastrami in Dublin when I moved here(that may be changing as the years go on, but I’m not sure). Pearse Street used to be my local Heifer but now the one off Camden Street is; I’ve yet to give it a try but am looking forward to it.

I have been obsessed with the traditional pastrami on rye New York sandwich since I saw it in a movie years ago. My first time in New York and I went to the world famous Katz Deli and had a pastrami on rye and it was divine. I came back to Ireland and have not been able to find one until that is I discovered Pig and Heifer. I saw pastrami on rye on the menu and my heart skipped a beat, but after it totally fulfilling my taste buds dreams in New York was I a little worried that this would drown those dreams out but I was starving and went right a head and ordered it. The verdict, it was great! The bread was fresh and nutty and tasted great and the pastrami was cut finely, melted in the mouth and was the right level of spicy. It was worth every penny and not a crumb missed my mouth so for me it really does live up to its claim of bringing New York Style Deli to Dublin!

It’s probably one of the smaller of the stores, but also probably the cutest as a result! They proclaim that they are New York Deli style, I’ll give them that but they are not working on a New York price scale, but that’s not their fault that is due to our over bloated economy, anyho… As prices go, they are very reasonable for Dublin. I had a chorizo and feta bap, damn good! Really rich and tasty and filled me up for the rest of the day. Great menu, warm inviting interiors. They have salads, they have wine and they source their food from independent food sources, which makes the food even tastier. Worth the visit.
