People don’t go here for the food. People go here more for curiosity, I think. Food was substandard. Grilled pork chops were dry. Bread on burger was stale. Chips were nice though. Service was okay. Interiors were meh. The seats literally smelled like it’s been there since the 90s… which is probably true. If you want American-style food in an American-style setting, I suggest going to Hard Rock Café across the street. You’ll get better food, service and ambience for the same price.

I’ve never been so disappointed with food like what is served in Thunder, waited 40 mins for food, order was wrong way round, no onion in the onion rings, chips from a frozen pack and worst of all 80 Euro for burgers and fries 2 adult + 2 kids… at least dick Turpin wore a mask. Only good thing to say is staff were very courteous.

Heard about this place on many occasions for the fun. Well decided to go there for a late lunch on my birthday. Decoration is ok and lovely staff but when it comes to the food, I think u need to be drunk to b able to say it’s nice. We ordered couple of starters tasteless, greasy. I chose a burger, omg it arrived burnt, with cheese that was just out of the fridge and wasn’t melt, I kindly asked to change the meat cos it was looking like a stone. The staff went directly to the kitchen and got another burger, over cooked again but at least wasn’t burnt this time. Burger wasn’t nice and with a strange taste, not even sure which kind of meat it was but for sure I didn’t like it at all. 3 of my friends also ordered the same and were not happy about it. Actually I had only 1 bite, we all drink our pint and left the place, we didn’t even go for desert because I was already unhappy to spend 14 euros for that burger. I was really deceived. If u serve food at least serve something that worth 14 euros. I would never go back there and really do not understand why people like this place, for sure it must be for the fun at night once u r drunk cos lunch was like nothing special and the food horrible. I only put 1 star for the staff that was very friendly.

Super great service but the food was so so again anything in the temple bar area you need to plan ahead for as they close the kitchen around 9 so just a heads up if you are accustomed to later eating times

I recently visited Thunder Road Café with the girls for a Birthday dinner. The atmosphere was great, the music is very loud so expect a hoarse throat in the morning. It’s very well decorated, lots to look at. The staff are great; friendly and always smiling(which is hard to find!) The cocktails are AWESOME. Joodle Bug was my favourite. Delish. Thunder road is a great spot for a girlie night out!

Went there with 5 other people as we couldn’t find a table elsewhere. Very disappointed — for the first time in a while nothing was appealing on the menu. The quantity was there but certainly not the quality. Very basic and not so tasty. However very nice staff.

This has to be my very favourite restaurant in Dublin. Its great for a girls night out, a date night, or a chilled out daytime lunch. My usual is the chicken enchilada so I would fully recommend that to anyone! My partner is more adventurous and has tried several things on the menu — neither of us have ever been disappointed, and neither of us have ever left anything behind but a clean plate! The atmosphere is fun and the staff are friendly — a definite 5 stars :)

For the most part — decidedly below average. To be honest I was not looking for fine dining, but the coleslaw was essentially just a lump of mayonnaise with cabbage and carrot bits!

For me this is a bit of a hit or miss restaurant. I know it’s a great place for kids parties and families but I find it a wee bit tacky. The décor is fine, with the hanging motorbikes and Indian man at the front door but these are so 90’s. I remember this restaurant opening over 20 years ago and it was the best thing since sliced bread. It’s likely the layout is still the same? However the food is quite nice, in that portion sizes are big, there’s a good selection of dishes and I ordered a pasta with chorizo dish and it was lovely. Cocktails are either € 5 or € 10 and taste a bit syrupy and not too heavy on the alcohol.

Not impressed at all with this restaurant and I won’t be back. On arrival I went to the gents and all cubicles were unusable — filthy dirty and without toilet roll. I brought it to the attention of a staff member and I was given a response of «OK». No apology or no reassurance that they will get someone onto it straight away. The general cleanliness of the restaurant I would question too. I was sitting at the window and the blinds were covered in dust. Although it was only 1pm the steaks we ordered were out of stock. The food was very dull and felt like it was left in the kitchen for a long time before it was brought out to us. My burger was totally overcooked. Out water glasses smelt of vinegar or something like that, we asked our over worked waitress to replace them which she did but unfortunately replaced them with glasses smelling exactly the same. My wife went to the bar and asked for 4 fresh glasses and 2 of these were stink too so we didn’t bother again. I will avoid this at all costs and probably stick to the fabulous Elephant and Castle across the road.

Thunder Road Café was one of just a handful of places where I could actually sit at a bar, have a few drinks and dinner during a work trip. The service was great — the chicken sandwich I ordered was delicious. The place is a bit kitschy and certainly appeals to the American clientele — but it’s a safe bet.

Walked in, sat down, then got up and walked out. The reason: My partner went to use the female toilets and found that the majority of them were out of order, she found the area to be a complete mess and by no means keeping with any minimum standards. The restaurant itself was also unclean in the vicinity of the table we were at. Can’t comment on the menu as we left… In this day and age cleanliness should be the first thing to ensure. It costs nothing… Will never go back

I dont understand all the five stars. The atmosphere is great yes. the food is ok and the staff are a bit rude being honest. The cocktails are delicious and the atmosphere is fun thats why I gave three stars. I had chorizo and chicken pasta with processed gooey cheese melted all over it I would have cooked better at home. Its not cheap either so beware when your leaving you’ll an empty hole in your pocket that you could have spent on all the more amazing/cheaper places in Dublin city center.

Excellent meal in a great fun setting, really enjoyed the venue! Food was delicious and certainly a lot better than tgi Fridays! Overall if you are looking for somewhere fun to go or maybe with kids it’s a great place! Cocktails are also lovely too! The service was quick and all of the food was piping hot!

I suppose since we Americans have Irish pubs, this was the best attempt at American food/atmosphere in Ireland… They did a pretty good job of it. Everything was splendid, including the waitress we had. She asked us where we were from, and was lively and helpful. Thanks!

If you like Hard Rock you’ll probably like this place as well. I like themed restaurants and this one has cool decorations. Unfortunately I cannot say the same about the food I had. I had the burritos but the bread and hot fillings get cold before you’re done. Try something else!

I absolutely adore this place. Granted — I’ve never had the food, and stuck solely to the bar — but it was still love at first drink. The bartenders are extremely friendly and make excellent drinks. They have this special on for the summer which is 1 cocktail for 4.95 — that’s the cheapest it gets in Temple Bar(besides Th/Fri/Sat nights at Sinnotts with 2 for 5 cocktails). Anyway! If it wasn’t my last week in Dublin, I’d be a quick regular at this place. I loved it.

Per recommendation from our hotel concierge, we had dinner at Thunder Road. What it reminded me of was the Hard Rock Café, which sits across the street. In fact, I’m not quite sure what the difference was, except that it was adorned with Motorcycles instead of rock-n-roll memorabilia. That aside, the food was very good. A little spendy, but then, so is the food at the Hard Rock. My brother and I shared the nacho and he got mushrooms(which he loved, but I did not eat because I thing fungus is disgusting). The nacho was good, but the cheese seemed more the processed kind. Disappointing a little, since the country is full of cows. However; we ate almost every bite(just not the few chips left on our platter that did not have any toppings on them). Our server was very friendly and attentive. The restaurant and restrooms were very clean. While I don’t care much about motorcycles, but brother does, so he thought the place was very cool. It’s doubtful we’ll be back, considering we live 4,500 miles away, but we did enjoy our dinner.

I’m on a nachos drive at the moment, and ooo Thunder Road delivers. I got the small starter for € 5.95 and it had everything, fake gooey cheese sauce, guacamole, jalapenos and so on, and plenty of it. It’s twice the price of nacho bites in Eddie Rockets, but more than twice as nice. For the main I got a plain burger, a half pound of minced steak and you could really taste the quality in the meat. The accompanying wedges were yum, too. I like the place, it’s got its own cheesy thang going on with the Harley signs and the rock memorabilia and the hair rawk soundtrack blaring in the background. And it’s been going for over 15 years now. A pre-Celtic Tiger fantasy that’s surviving the recession somehow. Go there, try the nachos.

Happy Monday everyone ! The weather is amazing and I can’t wait to tell you what I did this weekend. Not that you’re looking forward to it(maybe?) but I have discovered a spot that I like and… Unilocal you go ! What is it? Thunder… Like a thunder. The café is all about motorbikes, biking attitude, and speed. Thunder-Speed. Speed-Thunder. Road… What’s the point of having a motorbike if you don’t drive it on the road. The Thunder Road Café is very american looking with american road signs all over the place. Café… Fast food orientated, you can get pretty much order whatever you want for a reasonable price. What about the food? I am personally not fond of fast food restaurants. Nevertheless, the Thunder Road Café offers quality food. I have been there three times now. I tried: sea food pasta, burger and… again the burger. You can ask for fries or wedges. The meal is huge, brilliant if you are super hungry ! I almost forgot to mention the milkshake — strawberry flavour is my favorite ;) What about the people? Whenever I go, the waiters are very nice and they serve you fast. Plus, when they ask how I want my meat and I answer«dead»(meaning well done), they smile. That’s professionalism !! For more information, check this link : Anything else to add? The Thunder Road Café is a great place to go on a Saturday afternoon, after shopping, to relax before going for a pinte somewhere else. You can also celebrate your birthday, have your hen/stag dinner party, or just come to watch a match. The ambiance is awesome, you’ll enjoy it for sure ! PS: What you doing next Saturday? XD

Awful, tacky, named after a Bruce Springsteen song… absolutely brilliant! This place is loud, brash and very very American. I love it! The best way to test if you like Thunder Road is to ask yourself the following questions: Does the fact that they have a Street Fighter 2 machine appeal to you? Do you like motorbikes? Do you think that you can eat an entire pound of beef in a burger? With chips? If you tick any of the above boxes, you’ll love it. I know I do.

This really is just a louder version of TGI’s mashed up with Planet Hollywood and Captain Americas. I’ve eaten here twice and both times came out feeling like it wasn’t worth the hassle. The food isn’t amazing and you can’t hear anyone more than three inches from your face. I also don’t get the whole tiger print vibe. I kept looking over my shoulder in case Peter Stringfellow might jump out, tack central.

Thunder Road Café is like a glorified Eddie Rocket’s, or Captain America’s kind of vibe. There’s also lots of motorcycles and tiger print everywhere… I haven’t the foggiest idea why. I’m not the biggest fan — I ate here a couple times and only thought it was ok. A friend challenged me to eat their pound burger one night, which I did easily, and then like a COMPLETE bimbo I said…‘does that mean I’ve put on a pound???‘ At least I have funny memories of the place!
