Tommy O’Gara’s

I’m sure there are lots of trendier places in Stoneybatter to avail of free WIFI. But, as it happened, I was in a rush for some, and O’Gara’s was the closest place to me, so in I went.
I’m not gonna lie, yes I was the only one of the female form in there, and yes I was also the only one not sitting at the bar. I was also most likely the only person to ever request the WIFI in there. Cos this is an old man’s pub true and true.
But here’s the thing, the minute I approached the bar, two of ‘the lads’ started up with the banter straight away. I ordered my (lovely) Guinness, sat down on my laptop and was extremely comfortable and not bothered by anyone. When I took a break from the lappy, someone was just leaving, and we had a great Q&A about WIFI — what exactly it is, and how he certainly wouldn’t be bothered with it.
Left to my own devices again, I got a cheese and ham sandwich to go with my drink. Delish, no frills, like the way you’d make it at home.
When I was leaving, I got a few «See ya! s» from the bar.
To be honest, it does what it says on the tin. And ye can’t complain about that.
