I recently had a massage at Urban Day Spa, and I was very impressed by the friendliness of the staff and the quality of my treatment. Although the facility is a little small and located on the second floor of Sportsco, the area is very relaxing and tranquil. The front desk staff was very professional and we were promptly escorted to a relaxation area. The treatment was very relaxing and afterwards, we were able to enjoy some more time in the relaxation room. I look forward to my next visit so I can try the steam rooms and Jacuzzis.

I think I found my new spa! After months and months of trying new places, I finally fell in love with a place and its staff. I made an appointment to get a 30min back massage in my lunch break the other day. My therapist was the lovely Laura who brought me to the relaxation area first and then offered me a robe. I told her I was on my break and needed to go back to the office so she tailored her usual routine to suit my schedule without compromising on time spent on my back. The massage itself was very good, good pressure and little talking — just the way I Iike it. The spa offers different deals depending on the weekday and they do run a loyalty scheme for returning clients. I will certainly be back soon and I will reserve the last star for when I tried one of their facials.

Heaven in the middle of Ringsend! I discovered this place when I took a yoga class in the gym! So delighted with my full body massage, excellent service and relaxation time!

Love this place! Having been going here since I moved to Dublin 18 months ago! I have been for waxing, nails, spray tan and massage! All treatments have been done to am excellent standard! I’ve never once been been dissatisfied with the service! They are open late on week nights which is so handy for after work appointments! They also open on Sundays! It’s right by my apartment but for people not living in the area they have a free car park(it’s within sports co gym so you can use their car park). All of the girls working their are great too so I never feel the need to request a particular staff member!

In a desolate week of customer service disasters, from AIB to Bord Gais to O2, Urban Day Spa was less of a life raft, than an unexpected yacht, taking me on a delightful sensory experience, capped off with excellent service. They began the treatment by feeding me chocolates and serving me peppermint tea in a Japanese style pot, while I lounged about reading how to make your skin glow on a chaise lounge wrapped in a cotton robe. This was nice. I had the winter treat, which was meant to be a 1 hour treatment, involving a massage and facial. In fact it was, over 1.5 hours with a full body massage and full facial, including an AHA mask over my face and décolleté. Hot rocks were placed all over me under several blankets to keep me cozy, and my feet and hands were tenderly massaged, releasing heretofore unknown tension stored in my ankles and knuckles. The air smelled like jasmine and roses from the body oils, and there was no chatter, just pure bliss.

Having a woman dig her elbow deep into your back and moving it like a glacier till it reaches your shoulder blades and then pausing to pummel it deeper may turn some people on but it brings me to tears. I hasten to add not tears of ecstasy. It’s an odd relationship. You lie there with your head poking out through the hole of the massage table in your disposable knickers, hoping that you didn’t miss a patch shaving your legs. But all that self consciousness evaporates when someone is digging their elbow in your back. «Just relax your leg.» «I am.» «Wow you are tense.» Let me tell you feeling a popping sensation in your back is not hot. Having a masseuse take a focused battle to those muscles incites a range of emotions, such as you want her to win but you want her to stop too(she did ask me to speak up if the pressure was too much, so you do have control). «What popped?» «Oh that’s just your muscles you have lots of knots. I am pushing them back were they should be.» «Oh.» “You are very tense.” «I’m sorry.» Why did I just apologise I asked myself. She looked at me with the same thought. «So yeah, you should do this more often.» «OK.» “Also you probably will be very sore tomorrow so get some anti-inflammatory cream.“ At this point you may be thinking, «Jez Annie you really sold this place to me and the massage.» It was 20% bearable pain for me and the rest was very relaxing, also I opted for a deep tissue massage which as the name implies is not going to be sweetness and light. I also appear to be a very uptight person with an extraordinarily tense body. I have Woody Allen muscle tendencies. € 60 for 1 hour. Usually it’s € 80 but they have loads of summer specials, just check out their website. P.S Thank you Edel N & Sharon C for liking my check in tip, your support carried me through the pain.

this spa lives within the sportsco leisure centre and is definitely a hidden gem. it’s pretty much perfect for when you’ve just killed yourself in a workout and want someone to rub your poor, achy muscles. or you’ve caught a glimpse of yourself in the mirror whilst doing triangle pose and you really must just go an have a facial. it’s fairly new and very high tech as far as day spas go. they have showers in the treatment rooms, and beds that are basically large, flat sinks. i know that sounds weird, but it’s nice when you’re getting one of their scrubs or wraps that you don’t have to wrap up in some sort of sheet and scuttle into another room to wash off the goop and then scuttle back into the bed. total buzzkill. they provide pretty much all spa sort of services and can usually get you in same day or within a few days. plus it always amuses me that i head to the gym like i’m being all sporty, but am secretly just going in for a pedicure :)
