History

Established in 1950.

WOODS was established on St. Patrick’s Day by Augustine and Elizabeth Woods in 111112 Lr Baggot St. Dublin 2 where we sold everything from milk and washing soda to tins of beans to fresh fruit and veg,

On Oct. 1st I moved the business to 16 Lr. Grand Canal St where it remains today selling only fresh fruit and veg.

We supply most of the offices on a daily basis with fresh fruit, milk and newspapers. These orders can be «Standing orders» which means the companies do not have to phone their orders in every day, we just deliver them. Standing orders can be changed with no problem at all. A simple phone call. fax or e-mail can take care of this.

A full range of aloe vera products are available by order.

Meet the Business Owner

Frank Woods W.

Business Owner

Born into the business in 1956 I lived over the shop in 111112 Lr Baggot St for the first 18 years of my life. I was always in the shop, even before I could walk I was in my pram! During my school days, on holidays I always helped my late father and late brother, Gerry, with the deliveries to the hotels and restaurants. I used go to the market every day with my Dad. I got to know everyone in the market and used to love going there. Now I do my ordering by phone. I miss the market and the great buzz there every morning. Once in a while I go up to say hi to everyone.

These days and for the past many years I get up at 3AM every morning and am in the shop before 4AM where I get the orders of the day and phone my own orders to the various people in the market. I get my deliveries before 5AM most mornings. I love meeting new customers, and really enjoy looking after my regulars too, after all «Old friends are best!»

But new ones can be fun! ;) So next time you’re in Dublin do drop in.
