History
Established in 2010.
Opened in July 2010, Gilbert & Wright has breezed in a breath of fresh air to nights out in Dun Laoghaire. We have worked really hard on trying to put the fun element back into party nights with retro games, a cool comfortable setting and funky cocktails and craft beers. In January 2012 we added a food offering for our customers with the help of our catering partners in Camile Thai Restaurant delivering us quality Thai food as well as finger food for group bookings and parties. In 2012 the Bar has continued to grow from straight to straight with the opening of our brand new Speakeasy upstairs function room, We collaborated with another local business in IMC Cinemas to offer people the «Movie Meal Deal» which is, a Starter, Main Course, Cocktail or Craft Beer and your Cinema Ticket for only € 24.50 and its gone down a storm. We also hosted a hugely successful local talent show called «The Wright Factor» with a over all grand prize of € 6,000.00.
Meet the Business Owner
Ian K.
Business Owner
Ian took over the franchise at Gilbert & Wright Dun Laoghaire in October 2011 and immediately set about implementing the raft of innovation and initiatives that have brought about much of this bar success in 2012 including winning National Hospitality Awards «Bar of the Year 2012» for the second year in a row in a ceremony held in the four seasons last November. He started his bar career in the multi award winning An Poitín Still in March 1996 working under the management of Louis Fitzgerald and Tom Young. We worked there for almost 9 Years, Learning his craft and working his way through the ranks and becoming Assistant GM before leaving in September 2004 to manage a bar for his uncle in Dublin City centre called Jack Nealons on Capel. It was here Ian Learned so much about the business side of bars both from his uncle and from being so hands on with the over all running of the business. He left in October 2011 to run his very own pub in Gilbert & Wright Dun Laoghaire.
