IMC

Thursday night is the night to visit — with a special online deal you can book to sit in the fancy «Galactic» screen (comfortable reclining chairs, good sound system, big screen) for only € 6.
Re parking — you get the first 2 ½ hrs free (car park is opposite the Tesco one, on Library Rd). With modern films (plus adverts) being a bit on the long side, this might not quite cover your stay (e.g. for Spectre I ended up paying € 2 for an extra hour), but it certainly helps.
Definitely recommend it as somewhere to go on a dark Thursday night

The IMC is the epitome of a local cinema. I have come here for years now, from childhood with my parents. awkward dates as a teenager and cheap student nights. The € 5 student Tuesday? Can’t go wrong.
Although the IMC could do with a little bit of sprucing up (especially in the screens/​waiting areas in the downstairs section), the place still retains it’s charms.
Staff are always very polite and helpful.
The integration of online booking is handy too, it’s pretty easy and hassle free to pick up your tickets.
And in the tradition of cinema food + drink, it’s always overpriced!

This is a great local cinema. It is smaller than a big cinema in a shopping centre which is why I dropped a star but it still has food and drinks and all the amenities you would expect.
Great deal on a Thursday if you book online you can buy a ticket for only 5euro which is really great value.

The IMC in Dun Laoire is an okay cinema. The good thing about it is that there are never any queues for it and quite often you have the cinema all to yourself. It used to be a lot cheaper than most other cinemas but it has recently increased its prices. Still cheaper though at around 9 quid.
An annoying thing is that they take from you any large bags and store it until you come out but they give allocate seats which I do like.
A boring review but it’s a boring cinema! But don’t go anywhere though, you are handy and I would miss you

I like this cinema. It is close to my house, the staff are AWESOME, the seats in the back are long enough for me and the super tall kiwi fellow to be comfortable. Plus, while it doesn’t have as many screens as say… Cineworld, it does have enough for to show quite a few films.
All in all a pleasant theatre

I’ve spent more hours than I can remember in this place, as a teenager, as a student and beyond! It’s become synonymous for me with Dun Laoghaire and with certain friends of mine, as it’s always the same group of us that go to the cinema together. Ironically I find it a good way to catch up as we often arrive a half hour early and chill in the cinema waiting for the film to begin.
Anyway I digress! I suppose the most important things about a cinema are the prices and the facilities. Going to the cinema isn’t cheap anymore but the IMC is as reasonable as anywhere. If you’re heading to an evening showing you’ll be looking at about € 10 – 12 (depending on whether or not the film is 3D) but they do deals on matinée showings and the big thing is student Tuesdays. Alas I am not a student anymore but if I was I’d be paying € 4.50 and there’s not too many other places in Dublin where you’ll find those sort of prices. The facilities are great, always clean and well presented, screens are good, plenty of toilets etc.
Drawbacks? Nothing serious but I suppose just enough to prevent me from giving the place five stars. Firstly at times the staff can be a bit inflexible i.e. a few times when I was in there with friends between the ages of 18 – 22 some of the ‘younger’ looking lads had issues with getting in because they didn’t have I.D. on them! Secondly, although generally not a problem, if you go down there when it’s busy, usually between on 8 – 9 especially on Tuesday, there can be some pretty big queues but they don’t take forever. Finally it’s a mainstream cinema so you won’t find too many arthouse or independent films here. Strangely enough they also didn’t show The Inbetweeners Movie during the summer either. ..

This is my local cinema and walking distance away. If I am feeling lazy I can park in the car park across the way and the first 2 ½ hours are free which is great if you can get the timing of the film right.
Booking is generally on line I say generally as the last time I tried to book the website was down. The goodies to buy before you go in the cinema are not as good as in Dundrum but it is still a good local cinema with a good choice of films.

Terrible lifeless cinema with dreadful customer services. I tried to make a complaint about being overcharged while there with my family and nobody would talk to me. I followed up with a detailed courteous email and again never got a reply or acknowledgment of the email. I live nearby and we are a big cinema family but I will NEVER visit that cinema again because if they have no interest in their customers well then I will bring my business elsewhere.

Anytime I get to see Juliette Lewis 10 ft high I am happy. She is my idol, I even look past the Scientology malarky because she is well amazing and I may be slightly in love with her.
Cinema staff were pleasant. Seats were a bit small for my legs, ended up walking stiffly out after. It’s clean. You can pay for your tickets ahead of time at the kiosks like we did.
Only big compliant is the parking. It’s free. So why the issue? Well I’m positive that they said that it’s free for an hour and a half, but we grabbed food earlier so I knew we were parked longer.
I was an honest Jane and it cost me 6 euro for it… Then another punter laughed at me,
‘It’s free love.‘
I fought very hard not to kick him.
The barrier gate was fixed up… Why don’t they advertise that clearer? That was my only gripe.

The projector was set about a foot low, so the subtitles were off the screen! In fairness, they fixed it within minutes when brought to their attention, but does no-​one check? The car park is a short walk from the cinema back door and is free for customers, but they have posters up explaining that you might suffer a charge if you stay longer than 2 hours! Again, in fairness, the gates are usually lifted after late shows, but it seems you cannot bet on that anymore. Seats are general admission, so turn up early for large groups together or for popular shows.

Where will you find cinema tickets for € 4.50? Student Tuesday at the IMC of course.
I’ve spent many lazy Sunday afternoons in the IMC. They do a good deal on weekday matinees too (€ 7.30 for adults), which I took huge advantage of during my student days. The selection of films is much more broad ranging than the cinemas in Stillorgan or Dundrum, though for foreign language or arthouse films you might have to venture into the Lighthouse, IFI or UGC in town.
The downside is they only sell tickets through automatic credit card machines at the entrance, or at the food counter (you have to battle ridiculous queues and strong urges to buy pick-​and-​mix).

I think, in a time when Cinema’s are charging outrageous amounts for popcorn let along the movies, Dun Laoghaire is going against the grain with fairly priced food and movies. The deal on Tuesdays for students has got to be one of the best in the country and for a cinema that does not attract the quantity of punters as that of the city centre screens, IMC manages to pull people from all over south Dublin who would prefer go there than say Stillorgan Cinema.

It’s not a bad cinema, has to be said. It’s fairly standard, showing a good selection of movies. It’s not usually jammers, at least when I’m there during the week.
The downstairs foyer can be fairly desolate with a bit of the obligatory popcorn schmushed into the carpet, but the upstairs is a kind of welcoming round shape, with doors surrounding you leading to the different screens. The leather couches are a handy addition to chill out on if you’re waiting for someone to arrive or the movie to start (not that I myself have ever been that early or prepared for a movie going experience).
There’s a deal on parking in the car park next door with your cinema ticket and reduced price for students on Tuesdays. Don’t show up without your student card though, you’ll never get around those cinema lads — they’re a tough lot.

This would be my ‘local’ cinema, but if the truth be told, I’ve only been here a handful of times. Actually, more like twice.
I was really unimpressed. It was a random Wednesday at about 8pm or something, but the only place you could buy tickets were from two people behind the food counter. There was a whole load of other counters, but it they were all closed. So you had to queue up with everyone either wanting tickets or food.
I just thought it was really dead and lacked atmosphere. Now I know, it’s not a club or anything so it doesn’t have to be super lively or anything, but I wouldn’t be too keen on going back again.

I used to come here every week, it’s a quality cinema. Keep an eye out for Tuesday nights, the place is rammed with patrons eager to avail of the ludicrously good student rate. And, of course, like all cinemas the IMC does a roaring trade on Bank Holidays too. Why is that?

I remember when the IMC first opened how excited I was to go to a good cinema without having to go into the city centre. I was used to tiny screens with cramped seating with a couple of films showing. It is wonderful to see such a big cinema in Dun Laoghaire. They show all the big films as well as a few indie films.
Its priced around the same as most cinemas at around ten euro for an adult.
They offer parking around the back which is free if you attend the cinema.
And there are plenty of in house counters to buy snacks. Or if your feeling cheap there is a supermarket next door.
