Specialties
Located in the centre of Galway city, McCambridge’s opened its doors in 1925 and is a wonderful mix of select grocer, coffee shop, deli and off-licence downstairs and a beautiful casual restaurant upstairs. The deli and restaurant offer the finest of local Irish produce including Irish meat, seafood, cheese and charcuterie (including our own baked ham). The grocery hosts an extensive range of jams, chutneys, teas, coffees, artisan chocolates, speciality oils, an olive bar and a recently introduced organic fruit and vegetable section. The restaurant space is modern and contemporary mixed with period features such as high ceilings, architraving and items dating back to when the business first opened. Downstairs the take-away sandwich bar is a busy hub of activity, where sandwiches are custom made to order and can be eaten at the European style coffee bar which has great views out onto the main pedestrianised street, or you can sit in the outside seating and watch the world go by.
The Award Winning off licence has an extensive selection which features boutique wines from all over the world, with particular emphasis on continental wines. An added bonus is that any wine can be chosen to accompany your meal upstairs, with just a small corkage charge added. There are also more than 100 craft beers in stock. Whiskies are a speciality here, with the widest range of Irish and Scotch whiskies in the west of Ireland.
Gift hampers are their forte and they provide custom made hampe

In the 1930’s George bought out Mr Brennan and it was renamed McCambridge’s. In 1950 George’s son Pat joined the business. Tourism in Galway in the 1960’s bought a number of hotels and restaurants looking for high quality foods and wines. George & Pat started to supply some of these, and the wholesale, wine and spirit business began to grow. Pat convinced George that an off-licence was the way to go and in 1972 McCambridge’s opened the first off-licence in the west of Ireland. Pat began shipping wines directly from the Boucherd Pere & Fils vineyards in France. McCambridge’s are their oldest customer outside France. In the 1980’s and 1990’s Pat and Ursula’s children Eoi
