I happened to notice this new shop in Glenageary shopping centre and as I find it difficult to pass any pet shop I went in for a look.
Sarah Nevin is the Propietor and is very helpful with any questions you may have. There is a lovely feel to this shop and I think if I was putting any pet shops in order of merit this would be my number !.
I noticed something called a ‘Thunder Shirt’ and after asking about this Sarah showed me a DVD and after watching the DVD I bought one (45.00). This a coat for dogs who experience anxiety during thunder storms, fireworks etc. Aslo it can be used for dogs who bark excessively or have some other problems.
My dog is a nightmare when there is thunder, lightning, fireworks etc… She is so frightened that after one particularly bad night I took her to the vet and said either she goes on Valium or I do. needless to say he gave me the valium for her. I do not like giving her the tablets but neither do I like to see her so distressed when she is frightened.
This shirt is amazing and works immediately (with tablets you have to wait for them to work). Although there has been no loud noises for me to test the coat on her I have noticed that she is much calmer and relaxed when she is wearing the coat.
While walking Pepper up Killiney hill the other day there was a loud bang and one dog ran off as he was scared… Pepper just stood there with no anxiety.
Any Pet Store that sells a product like this has to be top of my list!
