Koi sushi is located in the centre of malahide village, it’s a relatively new restaurant but wow it doesn’t disappoint.
Being a local I have only ever ordered the sushi for delivery. Every time it was so tasty. I’ve tried numerous sushi places in Dublin city and this is on par with the best. It’s really fresh and tasty. Try the Tuna spicey kimchee uramaki.

Ok, so I’m a bit of a sushi snob. When living in Vancouver for several years I would eat sushi a couple of times a week. The quality was always great because there was so much competition.
Since I’ve been home my experiences haven’t been great in Dublin. Don’t get me wrong I’ve had no bad experiences I just always left a little disappointed until I ate at Koi last weekend. We got a Groupon for a platter for 2 people so our expectations were not that high. But my god the sushi was so fresh. the presentation was beautiful and the platter size was huge! Both myself and boyfriend have big appetites and we were stuffed after the meal. The place was very quiet with only 1 other table when we arrived and 3 when we left, which I am very surprised about. I think this place is a real gem and it is going to become my new fav in Dublin! Nom nom nom

We liked this restaurant. My husband said it was the nicest sushi he had ever had. I missed little touches like green tea that you normally get. The set menu has limited choice. I gave 3 stars because the desert wasn’t great at all. However, I would return for their lovely sushi!

I have to re review and dock a star. I went against with a different voucher for a sushi lunch. The fish here is fresh but the portions are extremely meager. The rice to fish ratio on a roll is 8:1. I also have to comment on their tempura. Just because you batter and fry something doesn’t mean it’s tempura. Tempura batter is made differently than your average batter which result in a crunchy, crisp batter. Their tempura was anything but… It was greasy and not crunchy at all. This was the most disappointing dish. The spider roll was also a huge let down as the crab wasn’t crispy… So yes, the quality of the fish is good but maybe that’s why they are so stingy about the portions. I won’t be back.

Latest addition to Malahide, this Japanese restaurant is where Wasabi used to be. I’m not sure if it’s the same owners under new a new name, but the main Japanese menu offerings are maintained, with sushi, bento boxes and ramen. Wide selection and always well presented.
There is also a new Thai section offering with appetisers and curries. It’s nice to be able to have a mix of both, maybe fish/​sushi to begin with and a curry for a main. Portions are large, fresh and overall, reasonably priced.
