I am a gym member here so that is the context of my review. There is plenty of cardio machines and a fairly large weights area. Pool and jacuzzi are available although I haven’t used them. Recently the place has been refurbished, basically a paint job and all new cardio machines and some new weights — nice touches are the motivational writing scattered in just the right places! There is a personal training service available to members free of charge which in my case involves a session where you work through a personalised workout with the trainer. Do that workout for 6 weeks, have a reassessment, wash, rinse, repeat. I’m on my 4th workout now and can’t fault anything in this service. There are also plenty of classes free to members — if you plan to use the studio for circuit training check the class timetable ahead of time as you won’t(obviously) be allowed in during a class. There is a spinning studio also which again, I’ve never used but nice option to have. They recently removed the wet whipped and replaced them with paper towels which to me, looks like a backward step hygiene wise. Main criticisms are: — the dated showers — no temp control and they are the 10 second type that stop every 10 seconds. I can tell the locker room was very nice when it was first built but could really do with an update, actually no it really really needs an update! Also if you forget your towel they charge 2euro to rent a towel!!! At 500(yes in this day and age!!!) per annum membership fee charging for a towel for an hour is very cheeky. Often the hotel has conferences on which lead to no parking available but to be fair I’ve found as long as you don’t block someone in, you can generally park on yellows etc without being clamped. Membership options are 50 month by month, 150 for 3 months or 500 per year. No other choice in the area so this is really your only option but for the only option it’s still a great gym.
