History

Established in 1946.

Standún was founded in 1946 by May and Máirtín Standún and has been a landmark in Spiddal, Connemara, Co. Galway ever since. Standún is now managed by Máirtín and May’s grand-​daughters Clíona and Laragh and it very much reflects all that is best in Irish and International produce marrying the traditional and contemporary to stunning effect. Standún is also highly commended by the top European and US tour guides.

I thought this shop was the best for Aran sweaters and the staff were very helpful. Lots of styles and selection. (I also appreciated the small café and toilet facilities since I was travelling with a toddler). Highly recommend it.

Standuns shop and restaurant in Spiddal, Co. Galway, a very high class range of mens and women’s clothing. It also has a small café with very good coffee and cakes.
