Temple Bar House of Horrors

It has potential, but the tour guide needs to be hired for his acting skill, not his accent. They seem to be trying to tell a story, but it’s hard to determine what it was

The House of Horror’s, just opposite Gogarty’s pub in Temple Bar is somewhere I’ve walked past tonnes of times and never even looked twice at it!!! We arrived early on a miserable dark Bank Holiday Monday to be greeted with a warm welcome by our lovely hostess Michelle, and shown inside out of the rain to a waiting area for the rest of our group to arrive.
We were soon introduced to our tour guide for the evening who welcomed us and gave us a brief introduction to the history of the house. As he started to show us around the building he started to discuss its mysterious former inhabitants along with some of the creepy history of their lives and events that were believed to have taken place nestled away in this dark, eerily quiet house here in Temple Bar!
The tour lasted about half an hour and without giving too much away for potential customers it consisted of a nice mix of interesting local history and a commentary of the lives of its creepy inhabitants and some decent frights along the way. A nice pit stop, especially for the week that’s in it when Halloween ghouls and ghosts are on people’s minds but the house will be open year round now too if you can’t make it this week!

I went along to this with a fellow horror geek on Saturday and had a great time! Its spooky and different, and you get to explore one of the houses of Temple Bar which has not been turned into an overpriced pub!
The tour is framed within a tale of a doctor and his daughter and our tour guide was fantastic, but I will admit half the fun for me was watching other people in our group lose it during some of the creepier portions of the tour.
Something a wee bit different for Dublin and I would certainly encourage others to give it a go

Went along to the haunted house on a dreary wet Tuesday evening. Stepped inside to a really warm welcome and shown into the front room, you would never know you were in temple bar as there is no sound of the hustle and bustle outside. I was with a group of ten who were all giddy and excited for what was in store.
Through the heavy velvet curtain we were greeted by out tour guide who introduced us to the house and set the tone with the history of its (possibly still there) residents. I won’t go into any details as you don’t want to ruin the surprise .
Personally I didn’t find it scary, I’m a big horror movie fan so perhaps it just takes a lot more than some but a few people in the group seemed to be terrified so it was very entertaining.
I think that the € 15 entrance is a little steep but I think if I knew this was going towards the upkeep and maintainence of this beautiful old building I’d feel it was more justified.
So if you enjoy a possible scare or being entertained by others who are then pop in and have a look, you never know what you might bring home with you

I went here yesterday to the house of horrors and highly recommend coming here for some local history and some scares! The house has recently been opened to the public with tours costing € 15 and lasting around 45 minutes.
There are tales of body snatching and experiments and a whole lot more. I don’t want to ruin the experience by saying too much but worth it if you like this kind of thing.
I’m not generally a nervous person or screamish but some things had me literally jumping out of my skin!

I’m a big fan of horror events like this and had been wanting to do this tour since I saw it appear last year in Temple Bar, but it never seemed to be open.
To my delight, a new crowd appear to have taken it over this year and it’s officially open for visitors from this week. It’s open every day from 2pm — 11pm. The tours themselves last approximately half an hour and cost € 15 per person. I believe you are permitted to bring children but I possibly wouldn’t see it being suitable for maybe under 16s.
You are taken on a tour of the house in groups of around ten people. The history of the house itself is presented in an entertaining, interesting and historically accurate (?) fashion. It’s not just about the jumps and scares like other horror attractions, this one has the potential to get into your head.
I don’t want to give away too much, but certainly I would recommend going along to the Temple Bar House of Horrors if you fancy something a bit different.

Deadly place inside temple bar, in Anglesea street, where I wouldn’t expect a haunted house. It is cool to make this tour when Halloween is so close and we are surrounded by spirits everywhere.
It is not funny if I tell you what you will see there because it would be boring for you, I will just tell you the background: the house presents a piece of the history of a family in the 19^th century. Your guide will tell you what the horrible history that happened there. The energies are still live, maybe you can feel it in the around half hour that lasts the visit.

so i have to say at the outset that i’m usually not a big fan of these sorts of things but i must say this was well done and scary and plenty of fun in a group.
It would completely ruin the experience if i say a lot about it but basically its a very old creepy house and a tour guide takes you around the various rooms. Thrills, chills and hijinks ensue!
