Cistin Eile

Delicious dinner with great local ingredients prepared in a modern way. Fine dining in a cost atmosphere. The treacle Guinness bread was excellent. The pigeon starter was a great balance of flavors with blue cheese and fig. The Doyle’s beef and lamb cutlets mains were very good. The beef was rich and flavorful. The lamb was done perfectly and the grain mustard was not overwhelming (I’m not normally a fan of mustard). Chocolate cake with caramel ice cream was ok – the cake was light and fluffy vs a dense cake but the ice cream was topped with some crunchy sugar that together made the dessert delicious. Great spot. Make a reservation.

This was our last meal in Ireland before heading home, and it topped off a series of wonderful culinary experiences on this trip — I never knew Ireland was such a great place for cuisine!
Cistine Eile is a cosy little restaurant, with very friendly, welcoming staff. The manager, in particular, went out of his way to make my 2 year old feel welcome (so many restaurants in the past have chosen to ignore her!).
In terms of food, what can I say? Well, I had the white fish scampi, followed by the topside beef. Both were very tasty — I’ve never really had white fish scampi, but it was very well balanced with the salad and dressing. My husband had the beef rissole, which has been recommended here a few times — also, very good. He followed-​up with the market fish (which happened to be plaice, and cooked very nicely).
We were really sad when we realised that we didn’t have time for dessert (needed to rush and catch the ferry home), but it gives us a nice excuse to go back again!
Also, check out the little slogans on the wall — my favourite was «hunger is a nice sauce»!

It’s no wonder all the reviews to date have been five star — this restaurant deserves every one of them!
The menu is neat and succinct — 5 choices each for the 3 courses. Prices are prix fixe at € 26 which is more than reasonable for the quality you get. To be honest, I did not understand a quarter of the words used but regardless of your choice, the food was superbly cooked to maximise the flavour and presentation of the local ingredients.
If you’re unsure, just stick to the starred dishes which represent the customer favourites — Mikey went for them and were not disappointed!
Service was friendly, professional and posed no urgency to shoo us from our table at any time despite the early 6 pm seating — that reminds me, book a table in advance!

Amazing food with wonderful flavours. Really nice staff. Have been twice and loved it. Have friends visiting from the UK in August and we are hoping to bring them down for dinner, any excuse to go back especially for the divine panna cotta

No trip to Wexford is complete without a stop at Cistin Eile. The food is absolutely amazing here and very reasonably priced, especially considering the quality of what you get. I had the corned beef sandwich, it was delicious. The whole menu sounded incredible, it was impossible to pick! Tourists often ask what is Irish food, well Cistin Eile is one of the best example of modern Irish cuisine I have seen.
The staff were very friendly and service was prompt despite the busy lunch service. I was given a little sample of the soup while I waited for my meal, it was a lovely touch and the soup was gorgeous.
I was here early lunchtime on a Friday and just nabbed the last seat at the counter, I would recommend booking ahead. I went back Sunday but it was closed; Sunday brunch may not have made it’s way this far out of Dublin yet ;-)

Came here last week a couple of days after I came home from Canada and as usual everything was superb! This place never disappoints and I recommend it to everyone I know. Can’t fault the food, plus service and ambience is next to none. Its traditional Irish and seasonal fare on a whole other level. Nothing ordinary about this place!

This is such a wonderful spot, I keep coming back! The food is absolutely delicious I couldn’t recommend Cistin Eile enough. I’ve had the fish, the rissoles (amazing) and the beef and would recommend them all.
The restaurant is small, so make sure to book ahead.

One of the best meals I have had in Ireland, in terms of taste, service & value. I had Wexford Rissole for starters (perfectly cooked), John Dorey for main and a chocolate stout cake for dessert.
We had a large group (12) and everybody left raving about the place & food.
If you are staying in Wexford don’t miss this gem of a spot.

We came in to Wexford for a few days from the States. Showed up on a Thursday at 6, no problem getting seated. Attentive service, great wine, lovely atmosphere. We had the goat cheese and fish fritters starters, lamb liver and market fish entrees, no dessert because we were so full. Phenomenal food you’d expect to find in a jacket and tie place, but casual atmosphere so don’t worry & don’t be intimidated. Fish was melt-​in-​your mouth delicious and the liver was perfectly complemented. Definitely go if you’re in town, you will love it!

Hands down best restaurant in Ireland the explosion of flavours in your mouth when you eat at this place Is incredible. Nothing I’ve ate in my whole life has compared to how good this food is just amazing a must try for anyone who’s in Wexford if not make your way there you don’t know what your missing

This has been the best food and dining experience. The 10 hour beef and parsnip soup were excellent together. So delicious! If your ever down in Wexford Ireland or anywhere in Ireland as a matter of fact this is the place to check out. You get a three course meal and the service is excellent. It maybe casual dining but your treated in the very best way!
